The man and I came here on a Sunday afternoon. We order a cup of clam chowder to start. Really yummy. Hearty and delicious! Next came the burgers. They came out right when we finished our soup. I got the bbq burger. It was huge, and really good. WARNING, it's messy. Totally worth it. This place has a great food and great service! Will be back!

Groovy local Pub and Cafe with LIVE Music, good food, and no Cover Charge. Great Band, Chicken Enchiladas and Burgers with generous Fries on this visit. Oct 27 Alexa Wiley and the Wilderness plays for a Haloween Costume Party, with prizes. Love the Deadhead Memorabilia...i will be back. Worth a drive.

Bomb Reuben sandwich. Thick, juicy, buttery, so good.

Past by for a quick snack, ended up sharing an amazing Reuben sandwich with my lady. It was insanely thick piled high with sauerkraut and delecious pastrami. The rye bread was toasted to buttery pefection. YUM! The fries were excellent. Well seasoned and crisped perfectly. The service was fast and friendly. Good place to grab a bite to eat while on the road. Will eat there again while driving the 30.

French Dip with sautéed mushrooms and onions. Taste to die for!

Burgers are especially good, the bacon-bleu burger medium will hit the spot every time, and the garlic fries are delicious if you like garlic. If you don't like garlic, don't bother! The halibut sandwich is also lovely with nice lemony tartar for when it's Friday or when you just want something that swims. Salads are super fresh if you add one, but the portions are large enough that I can't handle burger, fries, salad. Breakfast is also great, but it's not the same "you need to go here for this" that the burgers are, though the hash browns are delightfully crispy! The burgers are worth the trip regardless of where you're going, and my boss swears by the tater tots, but those garlic fries are where it's at. Service is flawless without being intrusive, which is a hard road to hoe, but more importantly nearly every person in the joint, locals to randos, is happy to be there, and that's what a good local restaurant is. It's a place that feels good and makes you happy you ate there. Also, the decor is...well, it's what Applebee's thinks it could be. Except it's real, it's local, and the food is the product of love, not just a product.

When you have family in town for the holidays, you want to take them somewhere that feels welcoming, comfortable, and has good food and this place checked every box. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and genuinely family-friendly, not rushed or chaotic, even with how busy it can get around the holidays. It's the kind of spot where you can actually relax and enjoy your time together. The staff was on top of everything from start to finish. Friendly, attentive, and clearly experienced (I overheard one say she had been working there since before one of the regulars kids were even born, 30 years I believe), they made sure drinks stayed full, orders were correct, and everyone at the table felt taken care of without being overbearing. You can tell the team communicates well and actually cares about the experience they're providing, which makes such a difference, especially when you're hosting guests and want to catch up. The food was excellent, we all had breakfast this time, it was well-prepared, and satisfying across the board. Everyone at our table left happy, full, and smiling. Ichabod's really shines as a community staple--a place that feels like home, except they do the dishes. I have lived in Scappoose for only a few years, but love this place. We have so many memories tied to this restaurant already. When our dog passed and we had no desire to cook, we picked up biscuits and gravy. To the annual catching up session I did in this photo, with some guests. Our date night with my wife. It's nice having a place you can count on to be good everytime. We'll absolutely be back, and always recommending it when people ask what's a good place to eat in Scappoose.

[Format & Space] Seat yourself*, review the menus at the table, order at the bar, they bring your food and drinks to your table. *Plenty of tables, some with long benches, others with chairs on the inside. There's also a large patio. This is a welcome and safe space. [Drinks] Right up front, I'm going to tell you I'm a lightweight. I'm allergic to alcohol, so I don't drink often. Here's one of the things I love about The 649. They have a fantastic selection of mocktails that are created with the same creativity, flair, and intention as a "leaded" cocktail. I appreciate that I get to participate and not be stuck with a lemonade, zero alcohol beer, or wine. So, HUZZAH for creating an inviting space for a non-drinker! There *are* times when I'm willing to risk the lobster-bod, itchiness, and stuffy nose and there are plenty of cocktails from which to choose! [Food] There's a nice selection of sharable plates and mains. I've personally tried the flatbread pizza, Bavarian pretzel, Cubano, and Brisket Press, all of which were delish. [Service] The service has always been fabulous. The staff are welcoming, friendly, and helpful. [Activities] There are a few TVs around the bar with sports. It was a great place to catch some of the World Cup games. Additionally, there are several games that you can borrow and play, which is a lot of fun. [Location] Tucked in a busy shopping center with Safeway as an anchor. Parking hasn't been super problematic yet, but based on one of the other reviewers (Ron R - loved your formatting too, so I borrowed it until we get rich text formatting or emojis!) I can see where it could be a challenge.

Because it's somewhat hidden in the corner of a Safeway shopping plaza. Look for the Baskin Robbins or Wells Fargo ATM and your find it. Like other reviews, when busy, parking can be a bit horrendous. But in hindsight, I'm not gonna reduce a star just because of location. * Bar Food Menu & Dining * Their menu starts with shareable bites, like a pretzel, tacos, quesadilla, loaded nachos, and even a charcuterie plate. Slightly larger dishes would be their Cubano and Brisket Press sandwiches. They even have a few choices for soup and salads, and a couple of dessert items listed. Don't forget to check the chalkboard next to the bar for specialty dishes and drinks. As for dining-in, they've got sturdy wooden tables that can accommodate 4-8 people. Bar stools by the windows, and a fairly large outside patio area. And with the times I've been here, I've never seen a dirty table. Very well maintained (two thumbs up). A few TV monitors showing the game, but its not like a noisy sportsbar. * Drinks & Services* You've got your choice of craft beers that rotate like a standard tap room. They also have tasty seasonal cocktails, but their normal everyday cocktails are just as good. And if you're gonna have a charcuterie board, then you've got to offer a wine list option right? Well they got that too! One last thing to mention, they've got some top-shelf bourbon and whiskey. The 649 is a bar that offers it all! Service has also been welcoming and top-notch. I recall only been served by Rich, Steven, and Crystal, but they always seem to craft up some lovely cocktails. Or deliver some clean tasting everyday type of bar food as well. * Last Call * Normally in my reviews, I'd list every item that I've tried, with price included. But The 649 is such a unique type of bar experience that I feel you should try for yourself; To me, their offerings are reasonably priced. Dining in is nothing fancy, but service is excellent. It's a great hangout for a business date, of even after a first date. I've got nothing but love for local support!

I ordered the pasta bolognese and a seasonal lemon drop, and both were genuinely the best I've ever had. The bolognese was rich and perfectly balanced, with deep, slow-cooked flavor and pasta cooked exactly right. Every bite felt thoughtful and well executed. The lemon drop was just as impressive -- bright, fresh, and not overly sweet, with a clean citrus finish that made it hard not to order another. The atmosphere strikes that ideal balance of relaxed and refined, and the service was attentive with a splash of "feels like home." Everything was clearly itemized on our bill, and there were no surprises. It's clear they care about quality and providing a complete dining experience beyond a great plate of food.
