Fish served in sauce was spiced with just the right amount of "heat". Chicken served in a flavorful sause with White Rice & Beans was a favorite. Fun to try different foods! read more

We just happened to be in Dayton and knew we wanted to find a good Haitian restaurant. Rose Goute showed up with the highest recommendation, and it was clear why walking in. Music and art on the walls making for a great dining-in experience when what we mostly get back home is take-out. They had a menu covering breakfast and lunch so we started with a fried patty with chicken from the breakfast selection. We're used to generous plates with Haitian cuisine and Rose Goute didn't disappoint. The legim was smooth and rich, deep complex flavors with some heat but by no means overhwhelming. Perfectly balanced with the diri djondjon mushroom rice. We also had a chicken plate and griot (pork.) Rose Goute has made our list for "whenever we're in town." Looking forward to Soup Joumou or spaghetti from the breakfast menu. THANK YOU! read more

The seating area was mostly empty as customers were getting delivery orders or carry out. It was well after the lunch rush so they had few patties available. The baked patties I tried were fish, and were extremely similar to a tuna melt and far larger than I expected as I was used to fried patties. The space was designed for efficiency and the moment I completed my patties the main course I had ordered of Goute was ready, realizing I had asked for way too much food for one sitting I asked for a box and the chef quickly brought one and boxed it herself for me to ensure everything travelled and reheated well. The pork (goute) was crisp and refreshing, served with plantains, Russian salad, spicy coleslaw, and some type of noodle dish. I was really impressed with the freshness of the ingredients and how everything just worked together in completely unexpected ways. read more

Good food. I really love their rice and beans. Of course adding chicken is also so yummy.

I wish this spot wasn't far from my house. Convenient when I'm around. Good food. They need to update the price on the menu. Give more pikliz!! read more

Food service and ambiance were outstanding. We met the owner who was very nice. The waiter answered our questions. We will return. We travelled from Cincinnati to try Haitian cuisine. read more

This is a WONDERFUL choice for FRESH, delicious entrees, snacks, along with an extra serving of open-mindedness and empathy. You already know that the "Field of Springs" became the hub of "temporary" insanity during this recent election "season." Forget about ALL that (no, don't... but that's a separate messssssage!!) and come here for some WONDERFUL, unique food and a cultural experience just about IMPOSSIBLE to find anywhere else for MILES.... I came in just for a quick "to go" order of their wonderfully tempting turnovers, displayed (usually later in the week...) but also got a good look at their chicken, fish, and goat entrees, which were HUGE, and definitely at least 2-3 meals. The entrees come with rice, salad (a spicy hot slaw) and fried plantains. It's EXTREMELY rare that I'll eat meat these days (loooong, boring story...) but I shared some AMAZINGLY delicious goat meat during my recent visit there, and I'm HOOKED. Everything is super fresh, so they seem to run out of some "staples" occasionally, but whatever you choose, it'll be GREAT, and the (inevitable) leftovers just as good!! Don't get me STARTED about the politics of the whole Haitians in Springfield ISSUE, you MIGHT (or might not...) be surprised by what I have to say. All I will say is that this is a WONDERFUL, unassuming, "hole in the wall" treasure of a restaurant, thrust suddenly into the spotlight, and handling the "hoopla" with grace and professionalism. There IS a bit of a language barrier... HINT: If you speak SPANISH (and/or French, of course!!) it'll be smoooooth sailing. But no matter what language you do (or don't) speak, give this place a try... MON DIEU, it's TRES BIEN!! read more

The food is fantastic and the drinks are good. We sat inside and our server did an excellent job. There was a wait get in, but it was well worth it. They called us to be seated right on time with their estimate. Great place and nice ambiance. read more

This was my first time to try Haitian food. We got the chicken and the fish. They were out of goat. The fish is amazing, the presentation is wonderful. I did not like the slaw, too spicy, it doesn't look like it would be spicy but it is. They were busy, so plan on ordering and waiting 10min for your order to be made. They have a cooler with different Haitian drinks to try too. Plantain are wonderful, I learned to warm up any leftover plantain pieces in the toaster. read more

Huge servings. Our 2 lunch portions were big enough to feed a family of 5! we ordered the griot (pork) and it was amazing! We also tried the turkey with the rice and plantains -so flavorful. We hope to be back soon and eat through the rest of the menu. read more

5 for the food. Was delicious. No menu offered. No English spoken. A little expensive, but I did have goat strew with plantains around a mound of black wild rice, so not outrageous for the amount and quality of food. So, I would go back if I were by myself or with someone who was up for spinning the restaurant roulette wheel, but not with anyone who wanted to actually pick anything out. LOL. Or maybe unless they spoke Creole. read more

I was out exploring and decided to stop by. I recommend the Rice & Bean with Griot (pork) with Pikliz (Spicy Coleslaw). The beef patty was good, but skip the herring one! The manager was friendly and explained the menu. The cafe was nicely decorated with flowers and Haitian flags. Good location on the main road off the Interstate. read more

For three of us, we ordered 3 meals. But we easily would have had plenty to eat with two meals. The goat stew was excellent--a must order. If you're new to goat, and want a bit less of it, the vegetable stew, which had a goat meat base, was also terrific. And the whole fish meal was huge and tasty, although I think the fish may have previously been frozen. All were accompanied by either white or brown "dirty" rice and fried plantains. Order at either the counter or at the table, for polite service. We heard about this Haitian-style restaurant all the way in California due to the crazies in the news and knew we needed to visit when in Ohio. It was unassuming, simple but pleasant, and a great way to sample Haitian food. Would definitely return. read more

I had been meaning to go to show support for the restaurant a couple of months ago. Finally went at the end of November. The staff was very friendly and the food was excellent. The restaurant is in a strip mall. It has plenty of room with about 20-30 four tops. If you go, be sure to have an appetite because the portion sizes are huge. You could probably split one dish between two people. I had the goat stew dish, which came with black beans and black rice. The stew can be eaten separately or over the rice-which was how I ate it. The meat was very tender. I'd not had goat meat before, but the way it was prepared it was more tender than the beef in some beef stews. It had a little heat, but it wasn't overpowering. I also had a spicy slaw called Pikliz. It was spicy, but I like spicy. It also came with a simple salad and I ordered fried plantains as a side. The 4 plantains were very good. All in all, the food was great, and the service was excellent. You won't be disappointed. read more

Great food! Will return to try the fried goat. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Portions are HUGE. Bring an appetite.
