I've come to rose cleaners on 3 separate occasions and was impressed each time! On my first visit here I needed a gown altered for length and other adjustments with a turn around time of 3 days. They were able to fulfill my order and did not let me down. My second time here I needed another gown altered with a turn around time of a week. They did an amazing job at paying attention to what I asked for and making sure to get it down. On my third visit I brought a jacket to be dry cleaned and they did an amazing job with that as well. I was so happy to find Rose Cleaners. I was trying to find an affordable place to hem my bridesmaid dress. I requested so many quotes. Many places were very expensive or only did wedding dresses. I was losing hope, but finally, one of the places I reached out to recommended Rose Cleaners instead and I'm so glad! I decided to try it based on the high reviews on Yelp. The process was so seamless. It's not going to be a fancy place or studio. They have a small changing area with a curtain right in front. I changed there and I got my dress measured to be cut. It took no more than 10 minutes and I paid $40. The alteration was done in one week. I wasn't in a hurry, but that timing is amazing. My dress was cut perfectly. The hem looks great. I'm so happy and will definitely be bringing any alterations I need to Rose Cleaners in the future! read more

After further review and research, I think Rose Cleaners is correct, that the manufacturer is at fault. The care label says that the product could be dry cleaned, but after having read about the dry cleaning process, I now believe that not to be correct. I no longer fault the cleaner. read more

Unless you're gonna go in with an attitude that you cant be ripped off, make sure you get a quote with your pick up receipt before leaving. I dont know their names, but I assumed they're husband and wife's. When I walked in, the man greeted with a smile and to me, has a kind face. The woman asked me to changed into the pieces of clothings that I needed hemming. One by one, she puts a few pins on me. It was so simple, straightforward, and the same for all 4 pieces. She asked for my name, number and gave me a date for pickup. She seemed busy so I didn't want to hold her up. I was thinking the fabric wasn't anything special or there was anything specific I needed so I didn't think to asked for a quote. Even if it's pricey, it can't be that much more. I was in total shocked with the amount he gave me when I went to pick it up. I looked at him and asked again. He gave me the amount again looking down, no eye contact. I felt he feels guilty/bad for charging me that much. As I was pulling out the last couple of dollars I needed to give him, he waved his hands gesturing no, saying it's ok...I said thank you and left, and still he didn't look at me. Bring 3 dresses to rose cleaner last year, when I got them back, I found one of the dresses showed apparent snagging in several areas ($400 value and I had only worn it twice) Annie told me to leave the dress there so that they could try to fix it, but when I picked my dress the second time, nothing was changed, she even told me this is not their fault and doesn't admit it with extremely rude attitude, so in the end I didn't get any apology from this store. Will post a pic) - don't expect a luxurious experience fitting your garment though--they just have a little room where the only thing separating you from the customers at the cashier, and the window to the parking lot, is a drape, albeit thick, on a rod. Rose Cleaners is a fantastic, locally owned alteration and dry cleaning establishment that I highly recommend. I have almost always been greeted by Annie, who is incredibly warm and friendly. Their prices are fair and reasonable, and their turn around time is very quick (without sacrificing the quality of their work). I first had a sari petticoat altered. Annie was swift to take the measurements, and turned the petticoat around within days, and it fit exactly as it should. When I tried on my sari blouse to get it resized, Annie actually recommended I not alter it a bit, which I found surprising! Most alteration companies would recommend even a small nip or tuck just to get extra money out of you, but I liked that Annie didn't try to scam me. Next, I brought my fiancé's Indian apparel, a few dress pants, and my long wool jacket for dry cleaning. For five items, we paid less than $50, which was incredible! Annie gave us fair warning that while they are accustom to dry cleaning Indian apparel, there is a risk that some of the bead work may be damaged. Again - I really appreciated her honesty, because Indian apparel is known for falling apart quite easily (at least the bead work). Our clothing came back perfectly cleaned and damage free. Lastly, I needed my measurements taken, and asked Annie if she would be willing to do so. "No problem!" she said, and quickly helped me figure out my measurements. Note, I had called a few other alteration stores in the area and was quoted $15-$50 just to have my measurements taken, but Annie did so absolutely free of charge! Annie's friendliness and honesty, and Rose Cleaners' reasonable pricing, quality of workmanship, and turn around time are the reasons we'll keep coming back here for our alteration, or dry cleaning needs, and why we'll keep recommending them to our friends. FYSA: there is a smoke shop next door that always seems to attract a slew of cigarette smoking shady characters. The longest Ive ever waited in line is like 5 minutes other than that its in-and-out most of the time. Alterations, buttons, special requests, you Fing name it Annie is the woman for the job. Ruined my expensive Z-Gallerie faux fur throw blanket. Left a film on it that cannot be fixed after 3 attempts from another dry cleaner who said it's because Rose Cleaners is using non-eco friendly, petroleum based chemicals that are used over and over again in a big vat without ever emptying the vat and detoxifying. Basically that leaves animal feces and god knows what on everyone's clothes. Disgusting. I wouldn't necessarily believe this except I've experienced it first hand- the blanket not feels gross and crusty. I'm so sad. They don't even make this blanket anymore so I can't buy another. It was $200:( Oh and when I told them they refined my blanket, they refused to admit it or refund me. Awesome. read more

This is a true hidden gem. Some people consider this side of San Mateo to be the "ghetto" and would never guess that a top notch tailor resides in this inconspicuous dry cleaning shop. I have been to many tailors over the years and the owner of Rose Cleaners is the best and the CHEAPEST I have ever encountered. This is one of the few occasions where you actually get more for less money! WOW! She has brought in the waist of my jeans and put darts below the waistband so they taper correctly for $15 dollars! Other tailors I have been to just shrink the waist band, and leave a bulge for $30-$40. Also, if you say you want your waistband TIGHT because you know those jeans are going to stretch, she does it! I have had her do more complicated tailoring jobs on vintage dresses that needed a complete overhaul. She accomplished mass changes for only $40....a steal in my book. Thanks to Yelp, I found Rose Cleaners, which isn't far from my apartment. The gal at the front desk is beyond nice. I'm used to being greeted by a sour puss - someone who's definitely judging you on the state of your clothes (wrinkly, dirty). No the case here. Another positive? They accept cards, which is fantastic. So tired of cash only spots in this area. For 9 items (dresses, sweaters and a scarf) it was about $50. That's still a bit pricer than I'm used to. I always count on her to correct major + minor details on clothing so that they fit and look better. I don't go anywhere else anymore, so I can't comment on price... but her handiwork is definitely worth every penny! One of my most telling examples of her skills: Satin bridesmaid dress needed a simple hem. My hem was by far the neatest, cleanest, most professional-looking hem compared to the other 5 bridesmaids who paid more for their tailoring. The owner left me a message and was saying that it's not their responsibility and it's normal that jacket's color faded since I have wore it for a year. I have to say that I only wore this jacket for a winter (at most three months). And before I took it to this place, it is alright and no sign of color fading. I had my other jackets dry cleaned at other place, why didn't color fading happen too on uneven places like you said? It is absolutely your responsibility. read more

Update: I think I am spoiled by Annie. She's great at doing alterations and VERY affordable. I have been getting my clothes altered there for a while now; getting pants hemmed, legs tapered, & waist lowered, sleeves shortened etc. I now find that the clothes that used to fit "fine" before, no longer fit "good enough" for me and that I am looking for things that I can bring to Annie for a little tweak to make them fit better. read more
