Long distance was one of the challenges of planning my mother's 90th birthday celebration. This was to be a small gathering in La Canada of my mother's closest friends, and needed to be perfect. The venue and bakery selections were easy, however finding just the right florist proved to be the most challenging. Years ago I stopped sending my mother flowers as the florists that I used in her area consistently delivered disappointing bouquets. I dreaded the process of finding another florist, and honestly expected to be dissatisfied again. After speaking with the owner, I was confident that I had found the right florist. Tom took great pains to ask me what varieties of flowers and the type of floral arrangement that my mother liked; discussed with me my vision for the tablescape; and then offered his excellent guidance. When all the planning was done, I left the floral arrangements in Tom's capable hands, knowing that they would be perfect, and perfect they were. Breathtaking seems the appropriate adjective to describe these exquisite creations. What visions of loveliness - variegated blue and purple hydrangeas, soft green hydrangeas, creamy beige Sahara roses, double feverfew, delicate maidenhair fern, graceful needlepoint ivy, and just the right touch of purple statice. All of the party guests wanted the name of my florist which is probably the greatest compliment that Tom's flowers could receive. Tom is adorable! He is also, helpful, knowledgeable, friendly, and happy to work within a modest price range. I called up with no idea of what to purchase for a work client, and he got me some bang for my buck, and even helped me figure out what to write on the card. I'm not really a gal who buys flowers, but this experience made me want to pretend I have a secret admirer and order myself weekly arrangements. Dare I say this retail transaction was...soothing. Tom is brilliant! He did our wedding with less than a month's preparation, over the holidays I might add, and he nailed it. He was kind, patient, and listened to all of my confused ideas until I figured it out. I sent him photos of ideas I had and he made my bridal bouquet more beautiful, and unique than I ever could have imagined. The men's boutineers, bridesmaids bouquets, the mother's corsages, it was all so beautifully done and he brought them himself to our wedding. I live in Northern California and wanted to find a florist to deliver a "Get Well" arrangement to a friend in Pasadena. I called Rose City Flowers after reading its positive Yelp reviews. Even though I called on a Sunday and the store was closed, the owner answered while catching up on paperwork. He took my order without hesitation. I learned the next day that the floral arrangement was delivered as planned. The recipient told me it was a fantastic arrangement! I heard later that the flowers also stayed fresh for a very long time. The price was right, the owner was very friendly and accommodating and the results were as good as they can get. Tom is the best! He's one of the most wonderful vendors that we use here at my office. This review is based on a relationship that I've built with him in the last 6 months. Though I have yet to come into his shop he deserves this! I work for the Human Resources department of a bank in Pasadena an occasionally we have to order flowers for our employees thanking them or sending sympathy arrangements when there's an unfortunate passing in their family. Prior to us using Rose City Flowers we used a local vendor a few doors away and would charge us ridiculous prices for arrangements and for delivery. We were spending way too much money on arrangements so I went out searching for a new florist. Tom happened to deliver a beautiful arrangement to our office a month or so before my search began and I wrote the name down. Once I contacted him I knew it was meant to be! He was very sweet and answered all of my questions and setting up an account was a breeze. He's always willing to work with our price ranges and is always on top of our orders. Tom the owner was very helpful as this was an order for a funeral. He was sensitive to my mother's likes and dislikes and created a display that she would have loved. Tom (the owner) is a ROCKSTAR! I have been using Rose City Flowers for several years now for our veterinary student graduation coursages. He does a fabulous job each time. This year due to my failure to check dates... he is pulling off a miracle job in 3 hours! (Although he can work miracles, I don't recommend relying on this technique). He knows a lot of places and people, so that makes it a wonderful experience working with him . I just say the Pasadena Westin, and he makes it all happen like magic. The flowers are always beautiful and the price more than fair. The entire experience working with him is actually fun. He is serious about his job and does it with professionalism. He always asks what we need, want etc. and keeps that foremost in mind. This year I felt I trust him and his judgement enough that if he could not get coursages done in time to substitute anything in their place as I know he could do no wrong. This place is exceptional! I called Rose City Flowers in a panic with a last minute corsage order. The owner was extremely helpful and accommodating. He asked the right questions and gave wonderful suggestions to help with my indecisiveness. I wasn't expecting a whole lot from a last minute order over the phone, but I was very impressed when I received my order. I received two delicate looking corsages made with orchids and a touch of bling. They were stunning! Corsages can look big and bulky, but the ones I received were perfect. He put together a very nice flower bouquet with very specific flowers (yellow roses) which he had to order specially for this on very short notiice.
