I had to wait a while to review this floral shop. Here's why... *Made an appt with the owner to bring my friend whose wedding is upcoming to talk about said wedding flowers. *Show up to appt and the owner never comes. *Call owner and leave message that "we're here..." *Don't hear back for 4 days from owner who apologizes profusely. *Make new appt for two weeks out Then, to make a long story longer, the owner had a baby and we ended up finally meeting her 6 weeks after the original appt. Turns out she is super nice and has great taste. My friend will be using her for her wedding. The shop is very cute with a limited supply of flowers that seem really expensive. However, she is doing the wedding for a great (I mean GREAT) price. Anyway, that's the story of my experience with Petal. read more

Please use caution when working with Centia. She was very nice and professional up until we decided we only needed her for bouquets. After we told her we did not need a floral arch she decided to tell me a week and a half before my wedding (Yes a week and a half) that, "It was too little of a job for her", and basically not worth her time. C'mon we're still paying $400 for flowers. Centia is not reliable nor was she apologetic or take any responsibility when I told her she should have let us know from the beginning that she had a flower minimum. We started talking to her months ago! This is so unprofessional to tell us this now. I just warn all other brides out there maybe you should go with a bigger florist company. I Still haven't received an apology.....so I figured I would yelp about my experience to let other brides out there know about her min. I hired Centia for my wedding and couldn't be happier with the results. I went with a yellow/white/sage green color palette and focused on succulents and wildflowers. I had somewhat of a challenging task in that I had a lattice under which we would get married and I needed her to decorate it. Centia was great and responsive to my requests. I'm a black thumb, but I"m still susceptible to Martha-envy. I don't care for massive arrangements, but the occasional pick-me-up -- a couple of Billy balls in a bulbous glass vase, or blue thistles mixed with eucalyptus, for example. Petal doesn't look like the typical florist. There's not a refrigerated case in sight. Instead, the weathered brick walls are lined with cards, candles, vases for sale; another corner is reserved for pet shampoos, bags and dog beds. The center is dominated by rings of galvanized tins filled with an eclectic assortment of stems and potted plants. Petal also sells glazed pots or chalkboard pots -- the markups are not unreasonable. The owner, Centia, has a distinct naturalistic style: arrangements are understated, incorporating moss, leaves, interesting containers (unfortunately, the new website doesn't reflect that sensibility ... seems too Teleflora). Petal offers flower arrangement classes every so often. A huge chalkboard lists the daily specials: Thursday is farmers' market night, and I think she has a doghouse special every day: 15% off for something to get back in someone's good graces. Petal seems to have a thriving delivery business, and there were a lot of last-minute, frantic calls during prom time, but Centia's always cool about small, whimsical purchases too. read more

Centia and Petal are the Best! I am so happy she was able to be my florist for our wedding!!! I worked with her husband and that's how I met Centia. I had never had any experience with flowers and she made it a very easy process. She had tons of pictures to show me as I don't know all the types of flowers out there. Centia has a great style and is very intuitive with floral design, and pretty much read my mind as to what I wanted. She was very patient with all of my constant questions and requests! We had 3 or more meetings and she even made a house call with live examples of what the bouquets and center pieces would look like. We made a couple changes that evening and I could only imagine how the types of flowers Centia and I decided on would look. On the wedding day I was ecstatic and ABSOLUTELY LOVED the pieces she had put together. They were gorgeous and better than I imagined. It was EXACTLY what I wanted! And to top it off, Centia even surprised me by putting a few Peonies (my favorite) in my bouquet, which were out of season at the time and a little hard to come by!! Everything was beautiful! Her prices are great and much more reasonable than the other companies quotes we received. The service was very personalized and felt like I was working with a friend the entire time. Centia was amazing. i showed her some pictures I found on pinterest, and she made it happen. She worked with our budget and produced beautiful flower arrangements for our wedding. When we met to see the sample center pieces, she made two so we can choose. The theme of the wedding was 1920s/Great Gatsby, so she added some feathers to our bouquets which turned out really nice. When I first saw the aestic of petal boutique and spoke with the owner I knew she was someone who got the art and beauty in arrangements. When I got engaged before the beginning stages of planning I already knew the florist I would seek. I was so excited to finally become a client! I briefly explained some imagery I saw on Pinterest to Centia and on our first meeting as I was discussing the decor scheme I was aiming for I instantly knew she got it. She would send me proposals of flowers I had never seen or heard of but complimented the backdrop of the wedding. My bouquet and table arrangements blew me away! She has such a keen eye she een decorated my guest book table to compliment her masterpieces. Some people care about the music while others the food; my focus was flowers and the decor.
