After my first appointment, I intentionally started booking with other estheticians at this location, and those experiences were excellent. I never had any issues with pain or my skin. This time, I didn't realize I had been assigned to Emillee again. During the waxing, I repeatedly asked her to be gentler because the pain was unbearable, but she continued anyway. The experience was extremely painful, and afterward my skin developed blisters. I've had waxing done many times before, including by other staff at this location, and I've never experienced anything like this. Throughout the appointment, she repeatedly commented that I had darker skin and darker hair. Those comments made me feel very uncomfortable and singled out. I also noticed her adding something to the wax during the appointment, although I wasn't told what it was. In addition, wax was spilled on both the floor and the table, making the entire appointment feel disorganized and unprofessional. During the service, I told her how much pain I was in and warned that I would consider taking legal action if my skin was injured because I felt my concerns were being ignored. Despite that, the service continued without any noticeable adjustment. Overall, this was one of the worst waxing experiences I've ever had. Based on my experience, I would not book with Emillee again.

A few minutes into the wax, she begins to ask me how often I exfoliate. From there, she goes on to say that I don't exfoliate enough, how important exfoliation is, and how she can tell that I don't exfoliate enough (I guess from my hair, idk). She then asks what products I use and how often I use them. I forgot the name of the exfoliant I use in the shower and when stating that, Marianahi just laughs. The comments about exfoliation continued for half of my waxing time. It was extremely repetitive and honestly left me feeling odd. I didn't know what to say after a certain point of her continuing to talk about how important exfoliation is. Aside from that, she stated that she could not get all of the hairs on my legs due to lack of exfoliation. I wasn't aware of how much hair was remaining that she couldn't get as I couldn't see my legs, but she continuously stated that my lack of exfoliating was the reason she could not take out all of my hairs. It wasn't until I went home that I noticed a majority of my hair still there, and I found it hard to believe that not exfoliating as much as Marianahi prefers is why my legs still have most of the hair still on it. I had to shave my legs and felt like I wasted so much money on my wax. In addition to this experience, when I checked out, the lady at the front desk was really trying to sell me on a wax package stating that I would save a lot of money and get a few free waxes. Even after I stated no several times, she still continued to try to sell me on the packages, to which I still said no. When she finally was able to accept that I wasn't interested, she wanted to rebook my next appointment to which I stated I only wanted to rebook for 1 service since my hair doesn't grow back that often in other places. She seemed as though she didn't understand what I was saying and was in disbelief. All in all, I'm not sure if this is a universal experience at European Wax or just this location, but I absolutely will not be back. My appointment was from 11:40 - 12:00, but Jessica did not show up until 11:46. No apologies, just "thank you for waiting." Then, she proceeded to tap on her iPad aggressively after I told her that I've checked-in already. (Thanks to the only technician who was present at the time. She was with a client, but came over to get me checked-in.) Before Jessica started working on my brows, another customer came by and Jessica told her that it would only take her 8 minutes, and she can take her after she is done with me. After Jessica was done tapping on her iPad aggressively, she didn't sanitize her hands nor did she wore gloves. At first, I thought gloves are no longer a requirement, but I saw the other technician wore gloves. Not only was she aggressively tapping her iPad, she was also aggressive when she finally worked on my brows. Every step she did on me, it pushed me back a little. It was impossible to hold still in the chair. When Jessica finished the first brow, she mumbled something that I didn't hear, then I felt the mirror on my hand. She asked me to check my brow, then she proceeded to work on the other brow. The whole process didn't even take place 8 minutes, only 6. (I was keeping track of time.) The past appointments always ended with aloe gel, but Jessica did not apply a layer of aloe gel on me this time. I was really contemplating whether I should tip or not, but I did regardless. I handed Jessica $10 and asked for change, she gave me 2 $5. I've always tipped $5 even when brow wax was $22. To be honest, I don't the service today was worth a $5 tip. Not sure if I'll ever come back again. If I do, I definitely wouldn't book Jessica again.

What made the situation even more frustrating was the way corporate handled the follow-up. I received a random phone call from corporate, where my name was repeatedly pronounced incorrectly, only to be informed that they were closing my case. There was no meaningful resolution or explanation of what was actually being done to address the situation. I was also ghosted by the manager of this branch when I asked for an update regarding the issue and was completely ignored when I was at the front desk this weekend, despite being told that I would not be treated differently because of what happened. I am extremely disappointed with the outcome of this situation and honestly shocked by EWC's standards and lack of accountability when it comes to protecting their clients. Clients should be able to feel safe and comfortable during their appointments, and waxers should be properly knowledgeable about safe and appropriate waxing procedures, appropriate topics to discuss with clients, and, most importantly, appropriate and safe touch. After almost 3.5 years as a client, I never expected to be treated this way or to be so disappointed by how this situation was handled.
