Jalapeño Poppers
Luella M.

We called in our order for 7 of us. Everything was great except the pan pizza. Too doughy. Food was very hot and steamy when we picked it up. The Surprise location was just a carryout location, but it was clean! I'm born and raised in Chicago and it very much tasted like I was home. Bravo!

Pizza (18")

I'm from Chicago and this place has always been hit or miss depending on which teenager is working the oven. Some care and some want to be anywhere else but there. The one consistent thing is every time I visit is there is never a manager or adult there. I'm done with them. Ordered for delivery today and this is what came to my house. Do not order from this place Surprise. They need to be put out of business for good.

My $34 pizza from Rosati's

I paid $34 for this sparsely topped almost warm pizza. What a letdown. Doubtful I'll ever go back. Pick up time was 1:40. I got there at 1:30 and it was ready. Got home and most of the pie is just cheese.

a deep dish pizza in a box

All my husband wanted for his birthday was a Chicago style deep dish, but didn't want to go anywhere. His favorite place for it is Rosatis. Until last night we had no idea one was close enough to deliver until last night. I called to double check and was pleasantly surprised they'd deliver to our home. Saves the extra fees from grubhub. I ordered their largest deep dish and a 18 inch pepperoni. We were told it would be about an hour . The food came hot, just as he'd been dreaming of and within the hour promised. The pizza was so good, sauced and seasoned well. Everyone was stuffed and happy. We'll definitely order so much more now that we know it's close. Yay for Yelp letting us know again!

Pathetic, anemic sandwich we received.
Rebecca R.

Ordered a dipped beef sandwich with mozzarella (fwiw: there is a shop that makes these in spades on every corner in Chicago!). Check the pic, very dry, room temp and no dip, no cheese, 1/2 the beef that should be on a sandwich. Unfortunately Rosatis is the only game in town for beef--sad. Guess my days of enjoying a Chicago beef sandwich are over. BUT... what an opportunity for an entrepreneur! Rosatis is literally your only competition.

Well, you are missing out! What a delightful surprise to have the meat or the cheese fillings rolled inside tender wrappings that you don't have to cut into with a knife or push down with your fork! People should be lining up for these rarities. I was allowed to order 1 cannelloni and 1 manicotti instead of two of the same, so I was pleased to be so accommodated. Flavorful sauce covering both was excellent too. Another rarity is being served on linen tablecloths anywhere these days, especially in a moderately priced establishment, so that was a nice touch as was the complimentary bruschetta, but why no soft background Italian music to enhance the atmosphere?  Our entrees included a small salad or soup, and our salads were crisp and fresh.  For dessert we split a pistachio tartufo which was a scoop of gelato rolled in chopped pistachio, and was flavorful, plated well, but very hard and not as creamy as I've had elsewhere--also, the $8.95 price was too steep--I don't believe it was made on-site although it said the desserts were homemade--it may only be referring to the baked goods--the server skirted the question when I asked. We were also dismayed to see that veal is offered on the menu since it's hard to not think about the inhumane practice that veal entails--switch to chicken for all those veal dishes--it would save some money too. Overall, well worth a visit for those filled crepes alone!

Food is tastefully prepared and fresh. Service is impeccable and the ambience is soothing. Our…read morefavorite Italian restaurant in Phoenix area. Buon appetito !! Osso Bucco out of this world.

When we came in we were greeted immediately by the hostess, after identifying a party if 3, she speedwalked us to a booth in the bar without so much as a follow me or a smile. After that it took around 10 minutes for our server to stop by and greet us, we found out he was also the bartender, so it made sense he may have been a little slower to greet is given he may have had bar orders to make. Unfortunately, he came off very cold and in a bad mood, with my wife commenting "I think he is irritated at us, but we just got here". We hadn't been to Carrabas in several years so it took us some time to review the menu, which was fine. The server brought by the bread and took our order, but still, he seemed in a bad mood. Our food came timely, I ordered the fettuccine carrabas, it was really good, my ordered some ravioli dish and my son ordered the carrabas trio. As stated, the fettuccine was really good, my son thought the trio was ok, he liked the noodles, but felt the chicken parm was hard and "weird" the big issue came with ravioli dinner. My wife took on bite of it and commented that it was lukewarm and the plate cool to the touch, like the plate sat forgive before being delivered. She did not eat anymore and notified the server immediately, then after that they had the oddest exchange... the server kept asking if my wife wanted to reheat the food, to which she said she wasn't hungry anymore and wouldn't eat it. To which he asked if she wanted the food boxed up, to which she replied she wasn't going to eat it. So then he asked what she wanted to do with it, to which she replied... she didn't want it as she wouldn't eat it.. this exchange happened probably 4 times to my wife finally saying for him to box it up. We ended up boxing up our meals, got our check and left, while throwing away the ravioli meal when we got home as... we weren't going to eat it. What bothered me was there was no apology, empathy, anything, just this odd exchange.. again, not going to Carrabas for several years, maybe if you don't like your food, they make you box it up and take it home? I am not sure, but ultimately, we ended up paying for it and had no apology, no manager clme by, no acknowledgement of the issue. The meal for the 3 of us, plus tip was almost $100 and that is with 3 waters. There is far too much competition in this area to have such a weird experience. I can chalk up the server to having a bad day, but if someone has an issue with their meal, you don't essentially make it awkward to either eat it there or take it home... you just handle it and move on. Either way, very likely, we won't go back.

Both pizzas were interesting. The Lichfield Park pizza has pesto sauce and corn on it, as well as cheese, so you might get a slice of that after your "guests" scarf their first helping. You better grab a slice of the Brooklyn pizza right away, though, because it's a traditional-looking pizza with pepperoni and sausage. You won't get a second shot at a slice. You'll get to finish the rest of the "adult" strawberry & bacon salad, though, with spinach instead of lettuce, walnuts, strawberries, and bacon bits. It doesn't come with ranch or even ranch-colored dressing, so they might not risk trying a pinkish salad dressing as a dip for their pizza crust. It's a very good salad and helped my vacation digestion, since I'm not used to the 110° August heat. Papa Paul's Pizza is less than a mile away from my room at the Wigwam. Going there would even be walkable in the summer heat if the fences around the Wigwam had pedestrian gates. As it is, both driveway gates on that corner of the Wigwam are slotted through the perimeter fence far from the place where Papa Pauls and the resort are just across the street from each other. I'm too delicate for a 0.9-mile walk in that much sun. I enjoyed a glass of wine at the bar to rehydrate, though, while I waited for the pizzas to come out of the oven.

Limited wine list for an Italian restaurant. We started with a caesar salad to split - SO much cheese, it was too much. I understand some people like that, but I wish they would have lightened up the amount and just have people ask for more if they want that. I ordered the chicken & broccoli alfredo. Sauce was clearly made in house, but the pasta itself was generic and did not taste like it was homemade. Good amount of protein though. We also ordered the mango and classic cannolis, and these stole the show. Flaky to perfection! If we come back, we might try the pizzas to see how it compares to the pasta.
