Found this place while looking for a nearby bar. It looks big from the outside, though the inside feels a bit shabby - or maybe "casual" is a better word to describe it. We went on a weekday evening, so it was pretty quiet. The wooden tables and seating added a more laid-back vibe. The Chicken Karaage was good - big chunks of chicken and crispy. Drinks were good too with a reasonable price. Service was amazing. The hostess was very sweet. Overall it's a nice place to chill if you don't mind the super laid-back vibe. Rorschach offers two cocktails from a can, an espresso martini and margarita (both $15) that our server warned isn't made fresh. Got it, I lowered my expectations and found both drinkable but diluted the margarita to combat its excessive sugariness. If anything, their menu was the perfect hearty base before a night of drinking. Having shared two of their sandwiches, the smashed burger ($21) was a hit. The potato bun was topped with two generous sized beef patties that are a little thick for a smashed burger but still had a nice crust. I liked that there was plenty of fixings including lettuce, tomato, cheese, caramelized onion, pickles, and a house sauce to give it interest. This was a tasty burger. Meanwhile, the potato bun disintegrated with the Korean fried chicken sando ($21) making it difficult to eat. Still, the chicken breast was hot and juicy with plenty of breading to give it a crunchy bite. But despite the liberal smear of gochujang mayo, it wasn't overly spicy and needed more heat. Adding some lettuce with the pickles may also help create a barrier between the bun and sauce to ensure the bread can hold up better. Maybe Rorschach's supplier gave them a bushel of the tiny potatoes, but their fries were cut so small... it's like eating Hickory sticks in fry form. You'd think a smaller fry means more crispy edges, but we just found they were really dried out. Rorschach Brewing Co's dining room is surprisingly spacious with picnic tables scattered throughout to accommodate varying sized tables. They were understaffed for a Friday, but the two servers did their best and made sure our large table was served and out in time for the concert. My first visit to Rorschach Brewing Co. was a few years ago. It was a Yelp experience during the pandemic that brought me here. I got beer. No psychoanalytical blob tests were administered. Nothing but a cool experience! I recently was in the neighbourhood. I stopped by to revisit this place. Rorschach is across from my closest neighbourhood McDonald's that I frequented growing up. I still remember when it was first built. Rorschach is a smidge away from the Beaches, in Leslieville. Parking along Eastern Avenue is limited, especially with ongoing construction happening. There is a Green P parking lot next door to the brewery. I used the app to pay for parking. The minimum time to park here is thirty minutes. I didn't mind seeing Lake Ontario just a bit longer. It's cool that there's a window to order and pick up beer when the weather is warmer, which faces this parking lot. There was a customer ahead of me on a bike. I loved this casual vibe. When it was my turn to approach the counter, I was greeted by a friendly man. It took a bit of time for me to decide what to get. He was patient and great. In the past, I've had the Hedonism and Truth Serums. Both were still on the menu. I got one of each again. The Hedonism has subtle banana, strawberry, and raspberry flavours. It also has acai, which I couldn't fully make out. This beer is classified as a sorbet sour IPA. I loved how smooth it went down. I also love a strong beer. This one was at 6.9% alcohol by volume (ABV). The Truth Serum is a double dry-hopped IPA. I absolutely loved it. I am such a strong beer fan and this one at 6.5% did not disappoint. It had a clean finish and was also so enjoyable to consume. Love! This brewery offers delivery. I am just shy of the local delivery area, which is any postal code that starts with M. The place does ship province-wide, but I'm thinking that dropping by isn't a big deal. It also allows me to visit my old neighbourhood in passing. Rorschach has a patio. There's a menu with drink and snack options. There were a few folks enjoying themselves on a sunny Saturday afternoon, which was nice. This brewery used to be a residential house. In this area, it is not unusual to spot former houses that turned into businesses. I'm glad that this brewery is still standing. It was nice to return. It's offers unique beer varieties and more. I went to this brewery to attend a Yelp Elite Event and I got hooked. They have huge and great selection of beers and each and every beer they have is exceptional. They have a very unique name for brewery and beers. These beers do justice to the name. They have a small beautiful patio at front and on the side they have window for quick to go purchases. Every beer I have tried here so far is incredible and very refreshing. The ones which I really love from this place are Reminiscence : the Mexican lager, Normopathy pilsner and Truth Serum : Flagship IPA. My all time favorite is Reminiscence. The food and beer have always been a huge hit with all my friends and family I've dragged out here. There's something for everyone, with loads of fun events run throughout the months. The staff have consistently been super friendly and knowledgeable to a pleb like me that barely understands the concept of beer, so you're in excellent hands if you're looking for a cozy atmosphere with incredible beer and food! I came here for a Yelp event once and I've been coming back here ever since. Every year I hope they'll bring back the Pineapple Passionfruit Sour, I think it was called Heresy? I don't know if I keep missing it, or if that will forever be a beautiful memory in my past. Either way, hope it comes back eventually! They have a cute patio with string lights in the front, it's a really nice spot to hang out in the summertime. To order, you have to go up to the bar to order your beer, pay ahead, if you want food they'll give you a number. Honestly, have not tried their food, but the other tables always seem happy with it. They have great selection and the menu rotates so something you like may not be there next time because of popularity. Came to have food and beers recently. We had a pizza (I can't remember which one for the life of me), garlic knots and then the kimchi fries that we added the chicken to. Really liked the pizza. It's for that wood oven type of vibe. Food was good. Definitely wouldn't say the karage is authentic Japanese but still good. Ordered a stout and a sour both good in their own ways. Great service and crowd, friendly and accommodating. As a wheelchair user, I would say it works. It's a busy space, but the width between tables is sufficient for a manual chair. We patronized Rorschach Brewing Company while on our trip to Toronto. They don't do flights but will provide free samples. At first we sat farther from the bar and didn't get any service. When we moved to the bar up front we were served right away. The food were interesting and very good, including a kimchi fries and pierogi bites. We stayed with appetizers and they were very satisfying. My wife also enjoyed her Cesar salad. I have now had the opportunity to eat here and have decided too upgrade Rorschach Brewing to a Five. I really love their stouts, though I do not really like their IPA's. We had the food while here, I had the Karage Japanese-style fried chicken bites, spicy mayo, lemon zest. It was very good. I also had the MALEVOLENT BENEVOLENCE* Crème Brûlée Imperial Stout which was really really good! There are a number of stouts that I like and I would rank this one amoung the best in the world (Speedway Stout, Yeti, Peche Mortel).w The server was also super nice! He seemed like he actually liked beer. This is what I think separates good brewpubs from just average and poor ones. People who work there and really enjoy the beer that they serve and beer in general. I'm obviously not there to give the people working their some sort of quiz on beer, it's just a natural conversation to have with people, and how they talk about other places they like in the city and area as well that makes the brewery a place that you want to be. I came here because of the yelp elite event. Thank you yelp for showing me this place or else I would've never discovered this place. Beautiful little patio in the front. On the side an easy access for quick purchases. I was able to try the hedonism beer. Oh my goodness this is the best tasting sour beer I ever had! I love the fruity profile and it's not that sour where I have to make a pucker face when I drink it. It's incredibly light tasting despite it being a 6.9 percent beer. A handful of years after my first review an update. We cycled past Rorschach today since we were in the east end and picked up a couple of Truth Serums and a couple of Vagabonds. We took them to a rubble rebar beach over in Tommy Thompson Park and drank them baking in the sun. Perhaps it was just because it was our first and we were thirsty but Truth Serum was super delicious. A hoppy frothy IPA that stands up to the best of them (Life in the Clouds, Shumei, etc). Vagabond was a little more smooth but terrific none-the-less. Highly recommended if you like the double-dry hopped IPAs. read more

if you are looking for a table no matter what, Rorschach is your brewery! The staff are very welcoming, they love the beer, and there is always space both indoors and outdoors. Coming from a major US beer city, I know I can be a little tough of my hometown breweries now. But, Rorschach has some amazing beers, but they were sadly out of the few that I wanted to try. However, they still make amazing drinks, and the atmosphere is very welcoming. Their poutine was divine, especially on a cold winter night. My only serious complaint is the comfort at the tables. The chairs are very hard, and reminded me more of being a child in a church pew more than a place meant to keep us seated to order more beers. However, we were only staying for a few drinks, so that was not a problem for us. Looking forward to coming back to the outdoor patio on the rooftop sometime in 2022. Cheers! read more

These folks have really upped their game during the long haul of pandemic. They have a great take out window around the side. Some picnic tables set up and a huge selection of beers. When I first tried their beers back in the day, I wasn't a big fan but all the ones I've tried recently have been delicious. We especially like the Hedonism Series of Sours which are all fantastic. read more

#pandemicreview Rorschach has a take-out window just around the side of the building if you do online orders and want to take a stroll for pick-up. They also offer free delivery, based on your area code, if you order $50 or more of product. The bottle shop is open although they are only letting in one customer at a time for proper physical and social distancing. I've taken to supporting my local neighbourhood breweries during this time and the adventure continues. Now that summer is here, it's more important than ever to identify the beer of the summer. Ordering online was a breeze and the pick-up process was even easier. Just took a little stroll and was the first one there in line. The Mexican lager with lime is refreshing while the Truth Serum IPA is tasty. I'm still waiting to try the Tropical Berry Dreamsicle. I really enjoy the "experimental" beers from Rorschach and will keep coming back for more. :-) read more

We tried Rorschach for the first time today with the intention of going there for drinks and dinner. First impression when we walked in... The atmosphere of this place is sad and pathetic. I have been to peoples basements that had better atmosphere. Second - The customer service was atrocious. The lady working in the bar who came over to serve us at the table had attitude from the minute she started talking to us. My husband ordered a beer and the keg was empty so it only filled his last 3/4 of the way (no big deal...) He asked her if they would be changing the keg so he knew if he could have another beer afterwards and she said she didn't know because it was "too much of a pain in the ass" Despite the food menu appearing good online, we were not going to stick around to check out. The un-welcoming service and terrible environment was enough to make us pay our bill. Needless to say we will not be back. read more

We've purchased beer a couple times from here and dined in once. We sat on the patio upstairs which is surprisingly large and nice! We wanted to try some of the unique flavours of pizza and opted for the "cool running's" which has jerk chicken on it and "Seoul searching" which has kimchi and Korean bbq beef. Both were quite tasty. Unfortunately the pizza market is competitive in the city and I do have favourites other than this place and probably wouldn't come back here. As for the beer and drinks, some are delicious and some are absolute stinkers. Now perhaps it's my fault for looking like I'm developmentally challenged but I'm gonna go out on a limb and bet that it's because the server/host was a giant thunder c**t. It reminds me of that episode of The Simpsons where they tour the Duff Brewery and all three types of Duff are coming out of the same tube. The food is alright. This place is so close to woodbine beach that we decided to try this out after our league. Their patio doesn't have a nice view (we could see only trees) but it was intimate. After a long flight of stairs, it becomes surprisingly warm near the top. It is very spacious and they have benches for large groups too. We ordered their loaded fries and loaded nachos with Jerk chicken. Meat was so tender and it was delicious. I ordered their Fruit Punch Lager and my other friends ordered their Mexican Lager. My fruit punch was too fruity -- if you like that, you'll like the Fruit Punch Lager. My friends liked the Mexican Lager. Service was great. The staff were very friendly and patient. read more

BOTTOM LINE: It's unlikely you'll "stumble" upon this gem, but it'll be worth your while to check it out. There's a reason why so many businesses at this site has closed down over the years - it has the dubious distinction of being "in the middle of nowhere downtown" - and yet, Rorschach has thrived for years due to the quality of their beers. This review won't focus on individual beers (I've tried too many) or their menu (I've only had their fries and they're good!), but mainly on my impressions as a whole. Their taps always have some standard fan faves, but they regulary experiment with new brews and almost always, they make a solid product. In this way, it's always worthwhile to get their flights bc it really gives you a chance to try things you may never get to try again. They do have an indoor area for the chillier months, but the long and narrow upstairs patio is a great place to pass those lazy weekends away. read more

The place is just south of one of the main roads in the Leslieville. It's a converted house with a GREAT rooftop patio. It has the right amount of shade and sun to keep you relaxed and happy up there. The gentle breeze comes through and they have good classic rock playing... it's a bit retro but it can keep most people thumping on the table. I also like Rorschach because they have a full kitchen and it's not just snacks. I'm new to the beer game and so my tastebuds veer towards the lighter and less bitter. Yeah... I'm that person but to be fair, I just started to sip beers a few months ago. I can definitely appreciate a darker beer done well... I may not be able to handle more than a few sips but one of the stouts we tried was definitely one of the better stouts I've had. The original beer list here is huge and varied... it's at least over 5 pages worthwhile reading. What I found on a Saturday, that I'm not the only one in Toronto that likes the lighter beers or ones with a citrus or fruit spin on it. Most of the beers I saw online were crossed out sadly. BUT I will say for those who love a good dark beer, there is tons for you to try. As I mentioned, service here is very good. I know which beers I like and sometimes a microbrewery can go far into the deep end with their descriptions. When you have a great encyclopedia of beers to choose from, help is really appreciated. Our server was helpful because she guided us to the remaining beers that would be interesting to us... also offering a tiny taste to ones we were sure about before ordering a flight. Prices here are very good to try before investing in a full glass. To me, part of the fun in visiting a brewery is trying new things. Synchronicity - Their description was really accurate. This is a light saison brewed with blood orange oolong tea and I could taste a dominant citrus note with a medium bitter black tea with a hint of really floral honey in the back. I thought this was really interesting take on beer and liked trying it. It did also have a moderate bitterness and touch of the astringency that I've come to know some teas have. Not my preference but I liked trying it and think the brew masters have creative ideas. 3.5/5 God Complex - Another saison but with a kick of 9.5% alcohol. I think my taste buds broke on this one. They explain it with as spiced, candied orange, floral, and hint of banana. I ... couldnt taste any of that. I found the flavour profile really subtle of the 4 we tried. I'm going to sound like a completely unseasoned drinker (which is not untrue) ... but it was light tasting with a hint of sweetness. That's it. Just light dry beer. Yeah... my tastebuds didnt work here. 3.5/5 Truth Serum - This one was really interesting. Double dry hopped and with oats, this supposedly had mango, passionfruit, mandarin, and grapefruit notes. I do have to agree, it has a tropical fruit spin to it... but the first hits you as pineapple sweet and then quickly goes into more of a traditional beer bitterness. For those who thinking new IPAs are like juice, this could be your gateway drug .. uh drink to liking the newer offerings. I guess this would be my first step in appreciating more of the traditional flavours of beer. 3.5/5 Hawaiian Stout - I love coffee (if you havent noticed my reviews) and when I saw Rorschach had a whole page of these coffee stouts, I was impressed. When I sipped this, I can fully appreciate how they nicely blended two flavours that most people would question. I personally liked it... I couldn't do more of a few sips but I like how the beer had an opening like a cold brew. Pronounced smooth coffee notes going into a traditional moderated bitterness. I found this less bitter than Truth Serum. 3.5/5 So I do have to knock the rating down from a 4 because unfortunately pretty much all the beers I wanted to try were sold out (Latent construct, Systematic Desensitization, Hedonism, ...). I can understand limited edition ones are 'first come first serve' so I dont think thats them being unprepared. It's unfortunate to find so many stamped out for the Saturday. I'm hoping they do come out with more sour or saison for me to try... I'd be willing to come back and see what they offer. read more

I came here for their Saturday - Yoga and Beer morning. Yes you read that right. Yoga and then beer :) They clear the back area of the tables and bring in a local yoga teacher for about 50 minutes of practice. Then afterwards head to the bar for your beer. The choices here are pretty interesting and fun. They had a mixed berry beer which we affectionately called the beer mimosa. Light, fruity and just perfect after working up a sweat! the yoga/beer is $20 - seriously you can't beat that price for a fun morning (even if technically you are working out). They also serve brunch there as well - it's not an extensive menu but it certainly hits the spot. I had the chicken taquitos (3) and they were delicious. I did check out their other events - trivia night and cheese/beer pairings are some examples. I'll definitely be back to try the cheese/beer pairing! The parking lot is a paid lot unfortunately - sucks but it is what it is. Carfeul when driving in- there are some barriers set up so it's a bit like an obstacle course to get to the lot. read more

While you can find them at your local LCBO I would encourage you to visit their location. Not only will you be treated to the entire selection but they have some nicely paired food and snacks if that's your speed. The beers on tap are of a wide variety so literally everyone in your group will find something to love, well, unless maybe they don't love beer but even then there's still food and snacks. I will warn you that the trip to the bathroom can take a while not because it's busy but because that hallway is so darn long (especially if you are coming from outside) but it's all part of the charm of having to adventure for the bathroom lol. read more

Never heard of Rorschach Brewing Company before but my friend suggested we go for Wednesday music trivia night. I'm always down for some weekday trivia! We dropped in at 7:30pm, just in time for the start of trivia. The place is huge; from the outside, it looks like an old mansion but there's an outdoor patio (long and skinny layout) along with communal picnic tables inside. The three page beer menu had 11 options. Oddly enough, the now pouring menu at the bar had 16 flavours. Double check that list so you don't miss out on any flavours. The synchronicity tea lime saison sounded delicious. Full pours are $7.50 while tasters are $3.00. The food menu is split into tapas, sharing platters, burgers and desserts. The nacho platter is $35.00! What the eff. Note: they charge 18% automatically in gratuity for groups of 8. Our waitress never mentioned it when everyone was paying their bills. The waitress also almost spilled beers on me when she brought our drinks out. She didn't bring any napkins to clean our table and didn't offer to comp anything. - Hedonism ($3.00 for 5oz) - pineapple sorbet sour IPA. This was my favourite out of the three sours I tried. Smooth, almost like fruit juice. The pineapple really comes through. - Collective unconscious ($3.00 for 5oz) - mixed fermentation sour. Decent sourness with some minerality to it. - Memory trace ($3.00 for 5oz) - table sour. This was quite similar in taste to the collective unconscious. Maybe a tad milder in sourness. - Dressed fries ($9.00) - pico de gallo, asiago and aioli. You need forks to eat this. Good dish for sharing. - Calamari ($12.00) - with banana pepper and chipotle aioli. Pretty small portion but the calamari was light and nicely battered. - 3 Dips ($10.00) - hummus, carrot and avocado mousse and cauliflower, white kidney beans, tuna and almonds. They ran out of naan so they brought us out chips instead. Hummus was dry. The carrot and avocado mousse had a smooth texture but didn't do much to my taste buds. The last dip was even more bland. Smooth saisons and mind blowing sours. The Reverie milkshake IPA is particularly good as well, just exploding with fruitiness and packing a bit of a boozy punch. Fantastic brews overall for the summer. I haven't tried their food for takeout, just the beer. Free delivery within Toronto, which is great! Same day if ordered before 11am. The Brewery is located a little off the beaten path, though not far south of Queen St. When you enter, their bottle shop is on the right, then there's a hallway leading to their indoor seating area, then another passageway leading past their brewing facility to a stairway to the 2nd floor where their washrooms are. When the others I was meeting started arriving, we were informed that a large group (actually a Company) had made a reservation for 50 people, so we shifted tables a couple of times to accommodate the group. I didn't order any food so I can't comment on it except to state that 2 others in my group did order food items which looked pretty good and had nice aromas. One other in my Group and I decided to share beers so we could experience more of them and we shared 6 of them, all of which we both found quite nice and flavourful with a wide variety of flavours and styles apparent. Considering the very big other group was also there (they arrived gradually later on), our server still managed to check our table without too much additional delay. People in the big group gradually left while we were still there so that helped too, and as we had to listen to some speeches by Representatives of the big group due to being seated in the same area, we were rewarded with tickets for each of us for comp. drinks. Due to it being winter and night time, I didn't have an ample opportunity to check their patio, so I look forward to making it back when the warmer season arrives so I can check it out. A hidden gem in the beaches. I've been excited to try Rorschach since they opened, and I was kinda in love with the witty psych references. But really none of that matters if the beer isn't any good. The beer was great, the food was delicious, and the people were really nice. The beer list is pretty self explanatory - it's all laid our, and detailed on the menu. And if you have any questions about the beers, the servers are well versed. The food was great! The plates are tapas style/ shareable portions. I've never been to a brewery with good food until Rorschach. To top it all off, I love the building! The upstairs patio is so calming and surrounded by trees. And the seating area inside is super cozy. Bring friends, share some plates and try a flight - I highly recommend it! read more

Upon the suggestion of a friend we ventured here on a Sunday afternoon. We have visited many breweries in the Ontario area and I rank this one quite highly. The brews are well explained and stray (thankfully) from being exclusively IPAs. I enjoyed the Normopathy Pilsner, my friend had Participation Mystique. Both above average. We also enjoyed the pork sliders for $11 each. Delicious and filling. Service was well above average with an attractive staff. Will return when I am in the East End. read more
