A beautiful space in the Junction neighbourhood, Bandit Brewery evokes the outdoor delight of a Bavarian beer garden. The huge covered patio and rustic inside bar with exposure to the outside makes for a very pleasant place to sit and people watch on a sunny afternoon. The patio also appears to be winterized so it could be a good spot year-round. The menu selections are few but inspired. We didn't eat there as we had just had lunch elsewhere but the food passing us by looked appetizing. The beer selection is all home brew, as you would expect. The "juicebox" was my favourite - citrus forward and refreshing but a bit too hoppy for my taste. In fact, most selections were hopped up on hop but that's sadly de rigueur these days (One day, malt will reign again). Take a stroll south from Dundas West station. Clearly needed to update my review since I've been coming here for 7 years and have definitely found many beers to love! This has become a favourite place of mine. The beer is consistently delicious and if you like hazy IPAs, you're going to love these. This update is mostly a shout-out for the beer battered cheese curds. It's kind of a pro-tip we've developed, to skip mains altogether and just share a basket of these delicious chunks. It's a super generous portion ($16) even for 2 people but what a decadent treat! I really enjoy their beer list and they have really good beer options. Their DIPA options are really good and while I don't like the size of their pour at 12oz at least they taste good I think a brewery should pour a pint. And if you want to charge me $10.50 instead of $8.50 then fine. The cost of their food is ridiculous. A house salad is $17. A 4oz burger is a quarter of a pound for $22. Aside from cheese it has nothing unique on it. As I looked around I saw very few people eating, and while I was hungry, I wasn't interested in expensive and small food. If they would add a few reasonable food options this would be a 5 star place. It's not hard to do... when you order food you're eating on concrete at a picnic table. read more

Embarrassingly, we only dropped by because the bandit logo was so cute but I'm glad we did! They had a solid amount of home beers that ranged from IPA to lager and you could do sizes from tasters to a full glass. They also had wine for non beer lovers. In a convenient location close to the Dundas West TTC, it has always been a hit in the summer (and can confirm that it transforms into the coziest place during winter snowstorms). I used to pass this on my way to other restaurants and never went in, but a friend of mine decided to go because she's been before, so off we went! We were seated outside on one of the available benches. It was sunny at first and there weren't any umbrellas or anything for shade. I'm not into beer, so my friends ordered a flight and liked what they ordered. Again, we got all our dishes to share, and ate everything. My wife and I stumbled upon this brewery while we were headed back to our hotel after dinner. While their beers and the atmosphere are equally awesome, it is truly what makes this place special. As we approached the building we noticed the sign that said "please wait to be seated", even though the bar was our destination, we waited. Once greeted we informed the staff member we wanted to sit at the bar, while we were told to go ahead a take a seat, we were still walked to the bar and welcomed to Bandit. The staff member noticed the bartender was busy making drink orders, so he poured us both a little sample of the milkshake IPA to enjoy while we looked through the beer list and waited on the bartender. Once Morgan was done pouring beers he came over to take care of us. I mentioned the people make this place special and Morgan is one of those people. We stayed for a couple of drinks and we can not thank Morgan enough for taking such good care of us. While they do serve some lite bites here, we did not have any. With Patios opening now in Toronto, I had an opportunity to check out the food at Bandit Breweries. I have order many of their Beers during Covid but never had a chance to try out their food. I have to say they serve really good Burger!!! It's a must! The patio area is first come first serve and is extremely nice It's well spaced for social distancing from other patrons. If you want to go I would recommend ordering their flight to try out the different type of IPAs they offer, or if you enjoy dark beers they have some good big bottle options as well. The best chicken sandwich I've ever had - been back three times now for it. The atmosphere is great and the aesthetics add to the experience - love the outdoor patio with the trees, even when enclosed for the winter. Sadly this used to be one of my highly recommended, favourite breweries but I've been a couple times this year and it feels the place is going downhill. The last few times the beer quality has gone down. In terms of the food, we went recently and they literally "ran out" of 2 items on their menu. Pretty bad for 5pm to be out of things. They also used to have amazing fresh cut fries but it seems like recently we've been getting the frozen bagged fries? Their menu is typically amazing so this was disappointing. For food I had the fried ribs and the KFC (fried cauliflower). Both were spectacular. The ribs had two yummy sauces drizzled on them and had a great crispy outside. The meat was so tender. I do love me some beer, so it's about time I start visiting some breweries, no? My first stop was Bandit Brewery. I'd been here for an event before, but wanted to go back for some new brews and tasty food. Bandit has an amazing patio that I cannot wait to visit again this summer. Until then, the cozy indoors is all we needed. Low lighting with a variety of seating, made this the perfect venue for a group of friends to kick back. Since my first visit they had produced some new beers...one being Stouty McStoutface. I heard about it on Instagram and had to try it, not because it was a stout, but because I had to order it with a straight face. :D Best....name...ever! It was a great stout with rich coffee flavour and a dry finish. Nice! At my first visit, I got to sample a few foods, but one I kept thinking about was their fries. The fries were addicting! Fresh cut topped with parm and herbs; so simple, so tasty. The serving size looked small until I realized I couldn't finish it. Deceiving, but the perfect portion...at least my friends thought so, since there was enough for me to eat and them to steal! My friends ordered the House Salad and the Zucchini and Eggplant Ravioli. So good! I was impressed at the variety of the menu. Even though the menu is small, they make it good! Service was great as well. I've been to Bandit a few times for the beer and beautiful atmosphere, but I've never really come in for a meal. My spawn is now old enough for extra curricular activities, so I find myself nearby on Sundays post ballet (we're cool, I know). Boy am I glad they brought back their brunch. This brunch is insane. I had the Bandit Breakfast which comes with two types of bacon, my husband had their house Benny and the little one enjoyed the yuuuge French toast. If we're being real, mostly I had the French toast as a wee breakfast dessert. Why not? I understand that here, beer is the star of the show, but this weekend morning understudy, she's marvelous. I had one of Bandit's Juicebox New England IPAs with my sandwich. It was light and refreshing and went well with the spice from the sandwich. On the other hand, the Winter Salad was too sweet and lacked contrasting flavours and textures. The lettuce could also have been fresher. I would pass on this dish next time. So... I kinda hate IPAs and IPAs are what Bandit do best. So how on earth am I giving this place 5-stars you ask? Well friend let me tell you that their Rainforest IPA is so amazing even if you hate IPAs I can't imagine you not liking this. I highly recommend it even if you're not a fan, you must I insist or at least add it to your flight. In fact getting a flight is probably the best way to experience the many flavours they offer (and yes there are a handful of offers that are not IPA). The staff have always been above and beyond and super accommodating and knowledgeable about the menus. The venue feels very safe as it has a lot of access to fresh air. If you are in the neigbourhood do not pass this up. read more

Bandit Brewery has a great space both in- and out-doors, with their obvious huge patio being THE selling point to come here, especially during the warmer months. That said, I do think it's a bit questionable having loose stones on the ground instead of something, anything, that is flatter and steadier for those who may have imbibed some. Their menu is solid, typical gastropub affair, but definitely very solid. I tried their PEAMEAL SANDWICH, which was served with generous portions of peameal bacon and crispy fries. It definitely hit the spot. Finally, and this may be a contentious points for some, but I felt that their beer offerings were "just okay". Gord and I went to Bandit Brewery to watch the England - Iceland UEFA EURO 2016 soccer game this afternoon. We went there a couple weeks ago for the first time and liked it. They brew their beer onsite. You can buy their beer to take home. Ben, one of the brewers, was stocking the fridge. I had a couple of their Patio Hopper Lagers. Yum! Says so right on the door, yet we were pressured by the staff from the moment we walked in, to get out. And we weren't the only party to get ejected mid-beer and before closing. It was so unpleasant. The curds were good but eat them quick because it doesn't taste nearly as good warm as it does cold. The truffle fries were meh and the buttermilk fried chicken was salty and equally meh.
