I've always been a huge fan of Great Lakes Brewery beers, especially Octopus Wants to Fight IPA and Pompous Ass English Ale, so I was really happy we finally made it out to the brewery itself to try even more of their lineup. While we were there I tried Rookie Card Pale Ale for the first time and immediately loved it. Same with Patty O' Beer Irish Red Ale; both fantastic additions to the list of GLB beers I enjoy. Service was great too. The bartender even gave us a couple samples before we picked our pint, which is always appreciated when you're deciding between a few options. Overall, a great experience for fans of craft beer and definitely worth stopping by if you enjoy GLB like I do. Only downfall was I found the pints to be pretty pricey. We came for trivia night so it is possible the experience would be different on an ordinary night. The game was fun and the space was open and clean. Foodwise however quite a few of us were let down. The beer menu of course is extensive! We split a pizza and it was super oily and lacking flavor-- the pizza pan was coated in oil at the bottom. Chicken wings were also apparently dissatisfactory, but garlic knots and burger had rave reviews! So, perhaps a better spot for drinks than a meal! read more

This might be the brewpub with the best food I've ever had. We arrived during 'Hoppy Hour' absolutely starving but first had to try a flight of their beers - and there's a lot to choose from! Really creative can art and names. My husband and I split the buffalo wings (which had some amazing breading on them - not too heavy) and the Barbacoa tacos that I'm still thinking about. I also had a pint of their Weißbier while my husband took advantage of a couple happy hour beers. Despite all we ordered the bill was incredibly cheap! This place has an impressive beer list. The food is solid, the drinks are excellent, and the atmosphere is fantastic, with good service as well. Overall I'd recommend this spot for a nice casual time in a modern cozy atmosphere with nice food quality and reasonable prices and will be back! Came on a Friday night and they have live music which was great. I've also come previously on Wednesday when they have trivia. Both times it's a nice relaxed atmosphere and casual. :) The tacos were yummy, only feedback would be to have more meat in the barbacoa and for the fish taco to give a heads up on the spice. Beef barbacoa came with a jus that our server said has a kick of spice, but it wasn't spicy at all - surprised that it was a cold jus and the notes were mostly salt. The fish tacos were quite spicy though! The flour tortillas were warmed which was nice. Their beers are nice, we had the nitro stout which was tasty. Other times I've had the Detroit style pizzas a few times which are yummy deep dish style. The wings are also good. Tips: They seem to change the menu every once in a while also. They have specials on most week nights. They charge extra for sauce on the side ($2 for buffalo sauce on the side with wings). Feedback/suggestions for service/ambiance: to make sure water is filled/make sure all tables get a water jug. When moving furniture to not drag furniture but lift - was quite loud for many chairs and tables disrupting the musician as well Feedback/suggestions for food: a bit more filling on the tacos, a few chips maybe since it comes with salsa and sauce already. A perfectly generic sports bar / brewpub, in a wonderfully touristy part of Toronto. The staff is just friendly enough to fool you into thinking they might care, and the beer seemed to be well received by everyone that ordered it around me. My only ctritique, and it's a strong one, is around the dreadful caeser salad. It's really disappointing and I wonder why it's even on the menu. Great additon to the neighborhood! There's plenty of seating available in a large space and a retail shop if you want to just stop in to grab a few beers to go! We came here on a Saturday night where they had their first ever Winterfest outside , there were local vendors and live music going on, quite fun! Inside we ordered a couple of beers, the Hop Pop (flavored carbonated water - a must try!), Smash Burger, Mushroom & Pesto Detroit style pizza and Chicken wings. Food was delicious, wings were MASSIVE, all in all I would definitely recommend to come here for a quick lunch bite or after work drinks or even a Saturday night out! Staff also mentioned there are regular events here so check out their socials to keep updated ! There's underground public parking off Richardson or across the street at the Loblaws. GLB Brewpub recently opened on Lower Jarvis Street and we wanted to check it out ... so we headed there for supper last night after our cruise on the Kajama. We sat inside where it was cooler. They brew beer there and you can buy beer to take home. Gord ordered Bitterballen (ground pork roux meatballs, breaded and fried, served with beer mustard) ... he liked them and would get them again. I ordered a Detroit-style Classic Pepperoni pizza (vine ripened organic tomato sauce, mozzarella and classic Italian Ezzo cup and char pepperoni) ... I liked it and took home leftovers. I feel bad giving a 3 star review. It might have been a bad time to come here as there is a cycling and running club here for re-hydration. My problem is due to the club's the service was a bit slow. It was also a chilly day which made me want to leave a bit faster. I most definitely want to come back and give GLB a chance to redeem themselves. read more

This brewpub recently opened in the heart of downtown and offers a variety of GLB beers on tap in a casual setting. The food and service are great compared to most other brewpubs in the area and the menu has lots of options to please every palate. I highly recommend the Smash burger and Parmesan fries. Went there with the family while visiting Toronto. Beer was tasty, and their Detroit style Pizza was amazing. Service was top notch.

Great neighborhood bar to all those living in the south core. We've been waiting to visit this place for a while and when they announced their grand opening special, we rushed to try their $2.50 pints of larger and pale ales. Both were very refreshing for a great summer evening. Our waitress, Sydney, was just amazing. Friendly and prompt! We also got to play some corn holes. We suggested it would be best if they had that gaming experience where we could drink and play because right now you can't take your booze outside. No big deal! Their food looks amazing especially the salad pics and description made my mouth water. But they seem a little pricey. They have the famous dutch bitterballen which I was very impressed with them. Hope they make the veggie version of it too. I have to find out if they have a happy hour so that we can get there early and try all the yummies while keeping it reasonable. They have a retail store which is open later than LCBO. I've always loved their beers, so it'll be good to give their retail some business instead of picking up at LCBO. :) Overall a great addition to the area and we will be back. read more

GLB was our first (and so far only) brewery visit I Toronto, and so far so good! Food 4/5 -- I'm including beer in this rating, because that's the main thing people come to breweries for! The food was decent, but I think they could have used more snacks. We got the baos -- tofu for me -- just a light snack while we had a couple of flights. We had six beers in all. I wish we would have spaced them out instead of ordering them all at once, but it's whatever... the nitro stout was good, but by the time we got to it it was warm. All the IPAs were a hit. Atmosphere 5/5 -- Another awesome interior and nice patio. It has the industrial look we're all used to from breweries by now. String lighting for bonus points. Service 2/5 -- The server was pretty inattentive and not very outgoing. It wasn't busy either... we're starting to notice a trend. Cleanliness 5/5 -- It was totally spic and span, and cool bathrooms with nerdy line art murals too! I felt really comfortable dropping one here. Overall 4/5 -- Good experience overall. The beer here is obviously good. (It's Great Lakes.) A 16 oz draught beer for $7 in Toronto is more than reasonable. I especially enjoyed the Pompous Ass on nitro. The service is similarly excellent. Prompt. Efficient. Friendly. Our server laughed at all my jokes. My wife won't even do that. Not even for tips. The food is really good. I tried the Greek pizza. I love the crispy, chewy crust on a Detroit style pizza and this did not disappoint. It was but a few mere shakes of salt away from flawless. The tofu bao: good. Could have maybe used a little more carrots or veg or something for crunch and texture. Maybe some red cabbage? But hey! There is a vegetarian option on the menu containing protein--a rarity which I always appreciate. And finally, I had the charred broccoli. In a word: Perfection. No notes. If I had to change anything, it would be to buy this place a dimmer switch. It was overly lit. Gave things a bit of a lunchroom/cafeteria vibe rather than a cozy brewpub atmosphere. And 100% these things are subjective and I am far too old to speak knowledgeably on them. But the music felt like something from a King Street East nightclub. Especially when it was piped into the bathrooms, each of which had its own speaker, so there was no respite from this auditory torture. The one song I Shazammed was by a musical association known as, and I am not making this up: "2 Chainz & Wiz Khalifa". Maybe the youths of today enjoy this sort of clatter. I do not. Anyway, this place was great and I only offer my opinion for consideration and constructive criticism, not complaint. read more

Used to come here frequently with my father because it was equal distance between our jobs but after several visits we decided we had to move else where for these reasons: Menu items are overpriced and have a weird range for a brewery, feels more like Asian fusion cuisine than pub food. (They don't even have french fries or nachos). No hard alcohol. Biggest turn off is there is no alcohol other than beer, the owners clearly only care about getting profit from their own beers. If you bring anyone with you who doesn't like beer they don't offer mixed drinks or wine, and there's only a few pops to choose from (coke, Diet Coke, iced tea). Strange since the area is a young demographic who mostly is looking for shots and hard alcohol. They never have anything. The menu is almost strictly verbal because most of the beers aren't pouring properly but they still will give you a menu making you excited for an item just to learn that 6 of the beers aren't being offered, and half the food. There's a big chalkboard menu on the wall and it's wrong practically everyday. It's never a good sign when a restaurant is mostly empty on a Friday/Saturday night. The music during the day is often hotel lobby music and doesn't really fit the vibe of a pub. Not kid friendly. They don't have a kids menu, it's only verbal and they rarely have half the stuff. You can't make reservations. They can't split the bill. If you decide to share a pizza you can't split the cost into two bills. The only redeeming quality is the friendly and accommodating staff who give impeccable service. I've noticed, when in the neighbourhood, that there seems to be less and less of them as time goes on. Must all be leaving because of the uneducated ownership. Probs should have just stayed a brewery to be honest... yikes. Wouldn't be surprised if this place went under. I'd recommend taking your business elsewhere, you'll most definitely get more bang for your buck with lots of other breweries in the area. read more

Had a great time with the family on father's day. Detroit style pizza (the superior pizza) was very good, we had the mushrooms and pesto. Black garlic wings which were good however they were a touch underdone (I hope someone paid attention to the red bones, because I failed to mention this to staff, this is the reason for the 4/5). The fries were hand cut with sea salt and garlic aioli, they were amazing. They mentioned just about everything on the menu was locally sourced which is really nice. Staff and service were friendly and attentive both from our server, to the bottle shop staff and the bartender who was both knowledgeable and gives off strong best friend vibes. The main attraction was the beer. The nitro stout was great, we even took home a bottle of barrel aged genius and sampled almost every IPA that isn't at the LCBO (lots of collabs). Parking at the building was reasonable for the weekend and we enjoyed a nice walk at the harbourfront. It has a semi enclosed patio, close to the distillery district. Great job GLB! read more

My experience here was pretty bad. Had a staff member that was quite rude going so far as to make derisive comments about my weight. Of the food I tried the pepperoni pizza was good but the rest was mediocre at best. Service when available was unremarkable. I would definitely never go back when there are so many better options in Toronto. read more
