Fatty 1/2LB beef brisket** (fat is included no extra charge)
    Jeffrey H.

The last time I was at this location was when it was called the Three Brewers and thought we would roll the dice with Big Rig. Sadly we crapped out. And frankly I am not sure why we continue to come to places like this but ... more on that later. Tuesday night - place empty. Ordered a brisket sandwich, wife wanted the beer-braised beef and I was ambivalent and chose the smoked prime rib. Right out of the gate - waitress said "They don't do the beer-braised beef" any more. Yet it is still on the menu - not a sticker nor not even a "here are your menus - BTW". It was during ordering and that single item was mostly what the point of coming was about. My wife reluctantly got the beef brisket 1/2LB***. Both plate dishes came with potatoes and gravy. At this point in the programme I will add some levity - as the moment the food arrived and we "dug in" immediately the initial joke in Annie Hall took hold. (Buyer beware - if you don't know it - up to you to watch the movie to find out or trust in Google to help - opening monologue). First off the brisket - 1/2LB*** only would be true if it were not probably the lowest quality cut they provided - 50% fat. (equivalent in cost of a latte with extra foam). Next up the potatoes - ahhh the potatoes. My first gut was the gravy was out of a can, but as you started to eat it you recognized that familiar taste - maybe you had this somewhere in a past life --- maybe? "The potatoes are off --- as if ... they are fake." My wife replies "yes, they are fake." FAKE POTATOES - CANNED GRAVY - FATTY BRISKET - NOT ADVISED OF ITEMS NO LONGER ON THE MENU. What a great ride! Besides my wife disliking the brisket (reminder the entire evening was shot when she couldn't order the beer-braised beef), the smoked prime rib - about 25% fat and a smaller portion that what I would have expected (easily 2/3rds of the picture). Plus the "smoke flavor" was not uniform. Whatever. Son liked the brisket sandwich and mac and cheese - but he likes everything at that age so his vote doesn't count. Only plus was the glass of beer - we ordered a BIG BOOT. I would have no qualms buying and trying their other beers, outside of the restaurant. (aka with our home-cooked food with premium Totera meat). Don't know why we come to this style of restaurant - Montana's is the same IMO and we tend to be disappointed (I guess we are masochists at heart). Invariably IMO, poor quality meat saturated with whatever it takes to pretend. A better "deal" actually would have been to walk a few feet over to The Keg IMO. You pay more but ... but you get what you expect. Could have been 2 stars, but with inflation you need to work a wee bit harder. Plus having a menu you can actually order from would be a start. One star for you. PS: The waitress was aware that the beef braised brisket was on the menu still and agreed it should be removed (and/or taped out or whatever one would desire). It WAS NOT a "tonight we ran out of meat" syndrome.

I've been here a good number of times now, and it seems like each time, I like it a little less. This visit was on a Thursday evening, around 5:30 pm, so it really wasn't all too busy. More and more people strolled in as time went by, but considering how spacious this restaurant is, it wasn't even half full. As a result, you'd expect the kitchen to be a little quicker and service to be better. Unfortunately, service was lacking - our server was polite but we had to ask multiple times for the same thing (i.e. chilli flakes for our pizza); for the entire duration of our meal no one checked in on us; no water refills (which was disappointing since their glasses are very small, maybe 8-10 fl oz?); and to top it all off, at the end of our meal, the payment machine was out of battery (first I've ever experienced this) which delayed us leaving (as we ended up being tight on time since service was slow). All in all, I don't feel we were expecting much, but truthfully, for a place of this price point, the expectations for service are higher and our experience just didn't meet that. Now onto the food. I always recommend the MAC N' CHEESE but make sure to add MONTREAL SMOKED MEAT! We've had this dish just about every time we visit and it never disappoints. Now, knowing that we love their Montreal smoked meat, we decided to give their SMOKED MEAT PIZZA a try. I find it the oddest thing that when you inquire about their pizza sizes, they respond with "the small is 4 slices, the medium is 6, and the large is 8". Usually the standard answer is in inches because realistically, you can slice a pie any way you want... Also, we got the medium which came out as 8 slices. LOL. Anyway, this pizza was topped with Smoked meat, green peppers, onions, banana peppers, and crunchy mustard. I'm normally not a fan of mustard but the one on here was okay for me personally. The toppings all complemented each other well and I enjoyed the slight heat. The dish I had ordered for myself was their ROAST BEEF SANDWICH. There was an abundance of shaved beef, paired with a good amount of provolone cheese which was delicious. Topping this sandwich off with caramelized onions, green peppers, and mushrooms was also a good call for added flavor and veggies. However, I personally could have done without the steak sauce - it was very BBQ-like and overpowered the natural flavor of the meat as well as the other components of the sandwich. Lastly, this was all on ciabatta bread - I loved how soft and airy the bread was, but could have been way toastier. It was also unfortunate that the server spilled a bunch of my au jus on the way from the kitchen to the table, so the bottom bun was soggy when I went to eat it. If you're looking for a good beer selection though, this is your place. Cleanliness of this place was also subpar. We actually requested to move down a booth since the table right behind us was very loud and there was tons of seating in the restaurant. We found that both benches of both booths were heavily coated in crumbs. For a family of four, we spent $120+ and I just felt you could have a way better experience elsewhere.

Came across this restaurant driving around the complex and it looked interesting. I checked out the menu on line and decide to try it out. We were promptly seated outside per the current Covid guidelines. There were a lot of tables close to each other but I figured they would skip seating at tables as needed in order to maintain the required 6ft. distance. As it was early in the evening - 4:00, it was not crowded. This was not the case. As time went on, they were seating people on all the tables. You would be sitting back to back with the next table. They are not very diligent with their Covid practice. One waiter continually had his mask under his chin or under his nose. He would only sometimes put it on completely when he reached a table. This made me uncomfortable. We ordered a Brisket and a Pulled pork sandwich plate, both with fries and cold slaw. Serving size was large. Brisket sandwich: Just OK. The bread to meat ratio was lacking. The meat quantity was lacking and very fatty. Pulled Pork sandwich: Flavour OK. Good amount of meat in the sandwich. Fries - good. Loved the salt on it. Cold slaw - good. Dinks: 1 amber beer - enjoyed; 1 red sangria - OK. Music: I don't know what was up the music. For a 'brewery' I expected more upbeat music - not Age of Aquarius, Rapture by Blondie...... Service: Attentive

There is lots of parking around this restaurant. They brew their own beer so there is sooo much to choose from. The food was great as well. My only problem that I had was it was chilly inside. I can deal with that as

    Poutine delicious. Good cheese

Nice staff here. New joint where the 3 brewers used to be. Excellent beers in this brewer. Good value. Meats are smoked in house. Steak was dry to my liking. Should be thicker cut. But the brisket, pulled pork and meatloaf is delicious. Sides are decent w the beans, slaw and sweet potato mash. Try the pork belly slider. Huge chunks smoked pork belly. Unique smoked flavour. I would get these again. Young upbeat music. Let the good times role.

The setting of the restaurant was cozy. Nice spot to hang out to watch the sports games and try out various beers. Food options were decently priced and tasted okay. If you're on a budget I recommend splitting the pizza or some of the sharable food like nachos. Beer options are great. The flight was only $8! They had a variety of sizes for a good price. Personally I liked the radler the best. Service was efficient for a game night. Wish they topped off our waters more often, but they do check on you periodically. Very friendly service.

Large pub centered in a very busy upscale eatery plaza so the renovations were done accordingly to match the vibe. The restaurant was quite large so although the waitress was sweet and patient, she couldn't be readily available for us when we needed. Brew selection 5/5: Quite a selection of different types of beers, we tried the Bongo which was ligjt fresh and on the sweeter side as grapefruit is its main note. We also tried the Midnight kissed my cow which is heavier cause it's a stout but the flavour was nice. Would go back to the others Food 3/5 Big selection of pub style food. We had the Mykonos chicken, the chicken was really dry and not enjoyable, but grilled vegetables and Fries were well flavoured. Also ordered the pork belly sandwich with a side of sweet potatoes mash, this was more enjoyable than the chicken but nothing overwhelming.

A favourite destination for Saturday lunches. Stellar service. Cool vibe. Definitely worth a visit.

Server: Josie Was originally going to give this place a 3 star just base on the service being bad and maybe the food is good. But no, the food was just as bad as the service. Our server was not friendly, every time she put something on the table was a drop and go, close to even a toss and go. This goes the same for her routine check-in. She doesn't stop to ask how everything was, she walks by to ask the question. If it wasn't for us to wave for her attention, we will never have our ordered taken. We ordered the steak and frites but changed it poutine instead. The steak was super thin and most definitely not medium rare. Maybe if it was supposed to be measured horizontally. 1/4 of the stead was medium rare as for the 3/4 was well-done. The poutine was horrible. I could have told the server how terrible their food was, but with the type of service I was receiving, I wouldn't want to take the chance of getting even worst service and potentially something unexpected in my food or drink. My husband and I don't like to waste food, so if it is not inedible, then we will still eat it rather getting a surprise in my food.

3 stars is totally down to our server who was the only 1 working on a busy Saturday afternoon during a Raptors game, she managed to take care of at least a dozen tables with multiple guests The nachos are a $20 item and other than the wet ingredients thrown on top, there really wasn't much happening - sorely lacking in cheese Menu has some great looking smoked items This was my 2nd visit so I can say try the wings, they're big and tasty

1 pound of wings - honey garlic

This was my first time visiting Big Rig with my boyfriend. We are from out-of-town and our hotel was close by, so we decided to give them a try! The restaurant has a quiet atmosphere and lots of space. The service wasn't great - very slow and it took forever for them to take our order (we hadn't eaten all day so we were starving!). Once the food came, it was very good. We got wings & sweet potato fries. The wings were a bit small but you get a lot (one pound). The fries were piping hot and very fresh. The drink menu was also good. Only thing lacking was the service.

COVID Stage 2 did not stop us from trying this newly opened Brewery / Restaurant in Markham. Although inside seating was not permitted during the modified Phase 2, they did have a tented area with quite a number of heaters which kept us all warm and cozy while still bundled up. Since this was our first time trying the Big Rig, we decided to try a number of items...of course all of their In-House Brewed beers! In case you are wondering, they also sell cans of beers for you to take home and enjoy. For Starters we shared: -Fried Pickles - When fried pickles is on the menu, it is a must for me! In this case it was also the best I've ever had. The breading was fried perfectly. Not too hard and not too soft. The breading and ranch sauce perfectly complimented the pickle inside. -Crispy Calamari - Another one of our must orders which was more flavorful and satisfying than others that we've had from other restaurants. -Hot Dog on a Stick - I'm not the corn dog type, however I am so glad my friends insisted on trying this. The beer-batter aroma was on point and cooked to perfection. -Seared Pork Belly Sliders - OMG, this is a MUST HAVE! The pork belly was super savoury and melts in your mouth. The luscious taste was absolutely devine. This really knocked us off our feet! As for the mains, we decided to share: -Pulled Pork Poutine - The pulled pork was mouth-watering and finger-licking good! This dish was not only very filling but also very satisfying. -Beef-Braised Short Rib - Braised in their Big Rib Double Chocolate Stout Beer, this tender, scrumptious rib was delectable. The flavour was exquisite and heavenly! Our service was amazing! Parking is plentiful (even without COVID). Indoor seating is fairly large! Last but not least, their facilities was very clean. We can't wait to be back to try their In-House Southern Smoked House!

So we were here about 3 weeks ago at the newly opened Big Rig which used to be The Three Brewers. Unfortunately due to Covid we were not able to enjoy dine in at this time, however their covered and heated patio did the trick for us to still come and enjoy their tasty food and beer. This was our first time trying out the Big Rig and their beers, might I add that they also sell their brews in store or at select LCBO's. Our friends and I tried their full beer menu and I mean every beer on their flight and we enjoyed most of them like 90% some were just not our cup of tea..... I mean beer. Their food is absolutely delicious we started off with some deep fried pickles and I always order this if I see it on the menu, these were great fried to a golden crisp the batter is not heavy at all. Calamari is another one that we always have to order, these calamari's were delicious as well and very satisfying lightly breaded fried up nicely and wasn't chewy. We also ordered corndogs but here they just call it Hot Dog on a Stick, these are served 3 to an order with ketchup and yellow mustard just how I like it as a kid. They are about 5" long beer battered jacket kept these guys nice and juicy we really enjoyed these as well. Also had the Seared Pork Belly sliders also comes in a 3 pack when ordered. The pork belly's are so deep in smokey flavor and tender the brioche buns were fresh and flavourful as well, these little guys go great with their beers maybe a lighter beer so the flavour doesn't get lost. We ordered a pulled pork poutine as well and these guy was huge like a meal on it's own. The pork was tender and the fries are the big fat hand-cut style fries. I wish there was a little more pulled pork on top than what we got in the picture, and don't let that picture fool you because that is a deep bowl not a plate. The braised beef short rib was so tender and fell of the bone. This guy is braised in their Big Rig Double Chocolate Stout Beer which was super delicious and we upgraded to sweet potato fries to keep it a little healthier. The staff here are all so amazing and nice, they run a tight ship with cleanliness every table and chair gets a good wipe down with disinfecting wipes as well as the card machines. We can't wait to be back for more delicious food!!! FeiJai out!!!

I remember that I was very disappointed by the food, but at that time, I thought that they were just doing some experimentation to introduce interesting Asian fusion food in this culinarily underwhelming town of Whitby. Thought it would be a good try. So I decided to come back maybe after this place settled more, but then COVID hit. And we never had a chance to come back until today. Unfortunately, the food experience was even worse this time. And their beer went very far from my beer preference, serving a lot of beers with wacky flavors - looks like those beers are taking over their craft beer lineups. Food: We had # Charred octopus with seasoned tomato sauce, chorizo, Calabria chili, ink tapioca crisp. Well, Octopus did not have "charred" flavor. Surface had no crispness. The portion was huge, but the octopus was rubbery texture, dry. The tomato sauce underneath it was just too much for the octopus portion. Over-seasoned & salty tomato sauce with additional salt and spice from chorizo pieces. Do they want to make me thirsty to sell more beer? Yes that might have worked, and unfortunately it didn't. I waited for our server to order another beer but it took her more than 15 minutes to come to our table . # Jagerschnitzel : Essentially, schnitzel. Came with braised red cabbage, apple sauerkraut, Yukon mashed potato with "mushroom sauce". Schnitzel was endlessly huge but dry. Mushroom sauce tasted like can or some pre-made cheap & junky taste. A lot of mashed potatoes. Well suited for those who want to get a lot of comfort food to fill stomach with no intention of enjoying delicacy. Beer was OK. They have rotating beer selections on tap. We had tap beers such as IPA, Scotch Ale and Premium Pilsner. IPA was not as good, it left a lot of one-dimensional bitter aftertaste. If I want IPA then I will go to Town Brewery. Premium Pilsner was good. We also had Scotch Ale which was also good with nice Scotch aftertaste. Do I come back? No, if the food quality remains the same.
