As a fan of the band Rush, and a fan of their beer, I knew I had to go straight to the source and check it out. When I was in Ontario I decided to make the hour and a half drive to go check out the Henderson Brewing company in Toronto. Finding it was a little difficult going down all these small winding streets and finally finding the brewery. There is some parking up front but it can be a little challenging although there is a parking structure off to the side if you need it. People inside were very friendly, I decided to have a bite to eat while I was there and had a beer... Of course it was a rush Golden ale, and a corn dog. It would appear the corn dog was made there, which was impressive. Like most beer breweries, the seating area is tables and benches, and very minimalistic. That being said there were a few people just hanging out and working, or having a beer and just one. But the real reason I was there was to pick up some Rush beer and some merch. I opted for two two pieces of glassware, a rush beer t-shirt, a bottle of Rush mustard, as well as an eight pack of beer, and a bar mat. Cooked down for beer keg topper, but I was running a little low on cash. Maybe mail order will be the way to go for me. All in all, this was a very satisfying trip, and learned that the boys themselves reached out to Henderson about doing a collaboration. That's pretty cool, that they would help out a local Toronto business instead of going with one of the big national beer companies. Much respect. Bottom line? When I come back I am definitely going to go to visit them again, and try to plan my trip around Rush fest which they have at the brewery. read more

This was my favorite place to get a growler refill at. Not only was it super cheap but the hazy was right down my alley. If we lived near here this wouod be a dangerous spot. I feel like I would get a refill every few days. The guy we initially met was super friendly and we got into a long conversation where they gave us plenty of recomendations and told us about their brews. They have tones of seating as well with even more games. It seems like a amazing spot to hang out with friends. There were some tiny details that were nice too like the wall of dog photos they have up. The only bummer is that they stop filling beer or growler an hour before they close which seems early. This place is always the best. Not only do they have a great patio but there are also often events that happen there. Inside they have games and even pinball as well as lots of items to take home whether be cans of their wonderful beer or pizzas or other great snacks. There's always new things for you to check out and bring home with you. We sat on the patio and just each had a beer. I really enjoyed the Porter and the staff were so friendly. Ambiance: 4 stars They had a few tables outside in a parking lot, I cannot say there was a good ambiance but with the government restrictions it was just nice to be ourside Service: 5 stars Staff was friendly, cleaning the tables as they became free and moving some to the sun. Drinks: 5 stars We got a pitcher for 25$, the beer was delicious. Me and a friend split the pitcher and bought realized we got a buzz of the single pitcher. We got some beers to take home. read more

I need to warn you that this review might be a little long as I am reviewing not just the event beers but some others that looked good as well. I decided to have all of them to give an honest to goodness review of the selection. So let's start at the beginning. 1. Food Truck. Lagered Blonde 4.8%. So I guess the saying is true..Blondes have more fun. This was on of the featured beers from the event. Nice and light , easy drinking and not too harsh. A good starter or for someone who likes the traditional Stella or Heineken. A good intro to the craft beer scene. 2.Henderson's Best. AMBER ALE. 5.5% -If Blonds have more fun..then Amber kick it up a notch. Slight hop flavor with a nice finish. Also very easy drinking and a good follow up to the previous selection. Problem is....it's almost too good. Good balance of flavor and easy on the taste buds. Think summer patios or even beach drinking. Mmmm. 3.Pearson express IPA. 6.5% - So now we come to the Full craft beer experience. Hops! IPA my favorite. Full flavor, excellent finish lingering taste if you don't like IPA then you don't like beer..Don't judge me! Be prepared to drink multiples. 4. Rollers Scotch ALE...8.5%. What do you get when you mix Scotch and Beer? You get AWESOME!!! Scotch..Scotch..Scotch..I love Scotch. Right In my belly..ok so IF you want to have the best of both worlds, this is the one for you. No judgment! So what ?! This brings the bougie Scotch whiskey people and the beer drinkers together. Yes its got a high alcohol content but what are you?! A WUSS?! It's amazing, Sweet malty and a hint of hops. PARTY TIME!!! I love you all!!!! 5. Society of Beer Drinking Ladies5.5% ..Hibiscus Pale ALE.- don't let the name fool you..this is not a ladies drink. Fruity and delicious with a dry finish! Kinda like some of my Ex...sassy! One of my favorites (Beer ) goes great with pizza or tacos..also with oysters and regret. Good bye Cosmos! 6. Cherry Lime Gose -Radicle Hose.. 4.4%..so time for a little sweet flavor...tart and a hit of lime. Not to sour..bust just enough..won't overwhelm you taste buds. Leaves you in a good place. Also who said that sour beers sucks?! YOUSUCK! I love this beer! 7.The Myth of Permanent.5.5% .ok..at this point I may be a little over doing it but reviews need to be wrote..write..written?! Darnnit! Ok...again easy drinking long with a little hop kick. Nice on the plate and won't make you angry..if you are that kind of drinker. Nice way to finish off. Love the warehouse feel and vibe of this brewery. It's amazing that a beer junkie like me have not been to Henderson brewery prior to this. I bought two Gose in anticipation for the warmer days ahead. The Good Truck Largered blonde was clean, crisp and uncomplicated. I'm not a fan or Largered blonde, but this has won my liking. Will be back, the service was efficient and organised. I loved how the cashier acknowledged me when I walked in, but she was busy stock piling and she said she'll be with me in a moment. Great gal at the checkout. The lager blonde is easy to drink and nice and light. It would go great with pub food such as burger and wings. It has a Metallic aftertaste. I've been coming here for years because of the combo of vibes and pints they serve. Always a friendly face, with fantastic local food vendors on weekends and popcorn when they don't. Pinball and board games for those who forget how to talk to each other, and fun events peppered throughout the month in case you need an excuse to get out. And last, but definitely not least, dogs! I am seriously disappointed in this brewery and the service. They are unapologetically rude from the beginning of our visit all the way until the end. Not sure why we were given such terrible service- if you don't want to work on a Sunday, don't! Our group came here for a quick drink and settled by some tables on the side of the building. We were picking our spots and were rushed to order because "we can't sit without ordering" even though we were fully prepared to order, just wanted to pick a seat first... then she made everyone come up one by one, like an elementary school line to come order...then said really condescending things like there were so many of us, but not everyone ordered beer... (because a few of us didn't want a beer..) So strange! Then when we sat, the main person in our group had to go over to the drake to grab some takeout and they ran after her demanding her to pay up first for all the beers..despite the 7 of us still sitting at the table..did she really think we were going to dine and dash? Then we started chatting and they shut the side door on our faces. Overall the experience was very unfriendly and made us feel unwelcome even though we were paying customers. I never had this experience at another brewery- usually it's supposed to be good vibes. +1 star because the beer was pretty crisp and good. read more

It's a twenty minute train ride from downtown and don't let that stop you from spending an afternoon with a drink and a friend :-) hell, give me enough notice and I'll meet you there! Passed by here many times while going to Drake Commissary (right next door) but it's the first time going inside the brewery. Short line-up outside and everyone went in and out very quickly. The staff was nice and helpful. Love the packaging of the cans. Bought a few extra beers along with the free ones (Thanks Yelp for the perk) Bonus, their delivery trucks feature awesome art from Kizmet and they are parked in the front. BOTTOM LINE: A solid all-round brewery that's a lot easier to get to than you might expect. Located seemingly in the middle of nowhere (relatively speaking, I mean, we're still in Toronto folks!), there is almost no chance you'll stumble upon this place by mistake. But this area is gentrifying (or is it revitalizing) fast, with the MoCA, Drake Commissary and the UP Express right around it. The staff are friendly and the space is pretty standard as far as breweries go. There are nice touches like the pinball machine and electronically locking washrooms. You can purchase their cans and bottles on-site. Flights are offered. Basic snacks are offered but I would suggest you grab a bite before coming here. On weekends, they'll occasionally have a food and/or oyster station. Finally, although this review won't focus on individual beers (being that taste is so subjective), overall, I would say they have some very solid offerings, and I appreciate that they'll experiment with some limited releases. read more

I thought this place was awh-ight. I came shortly after they opened on a gray and chilly Saturday and it wasn't busy at all. First, they have only a handful of food options. They're actually more like snacks such as pepperettes, a dip platter, and tortilla chips with salsa. There isn't anything that would constitute as a meal HOWEVER, you can get delivery to the Brewery. I thought this was a rather cool option! (Drake Commissary is right next door if you have a wad of cash to blow on simple bakery-type options.) So there is no other option than to focus on their brews. Female bartender answered all my questions, but wasn't super friendly or enthusiastic with suggestions. Giant brewery not too far from the Bloor train station. No one inside the taproom on a Friday morning, so was able to check out the draught list thoroughly before making a selection. Started off with "The Ugly" ($7.50) - a 10oz. pour of a super strong dark Belgian that has an even taste and only a small bite. I followed that by the "Union Pearson" ($6.50) - a slight hop, medium crisp taste that's easy to drink. While there talked to one of the bartenders who recommended some good spots in the area and got a free taste of a new cask they tapped. Since the spot is near an office complex, I can see it getting very crowded for the after-work hours. Had a great experience at Henderson with the Elite Perk. Picked up Henderson's Best and Food truck long with 3 other cans. Place is clean and staff were super helpful on the picks. The stout was pretty good and can't wait to try more. It will be a long wait for the patio to open as the lockdown started when they were planning to open on the same day. read more

I was here for an event, and got a little tour of the brewery. These guys know what they are doing and they are focused on making consistently good beer. They have 3 beers that they regularly brew, and a couple features every month. Food truck is a light, easy drinking beer. The Henderson's best is a refreshing amber ale, and the union-pearson is a classic IPA. They use quality ingredients, and really strive to make great products. I also got to try a couple of their features, the Belgian tripel - the goldbeer. Along with their Ides of December (operation: snowplow). Whether you like the classics or trying out new flavors, swing by every month or so and see what they are brewing! read more

Henderson has great beer overall. It is also a very chill spot to have a conversation and a beer. I particularly like... 1. Henderson's Best and Food Truck beers. They are easy drinking, excellent beers. 2. Free popcorn. 3. Relaxed staff. While there is no table service, there is also no pressure to pay up front or leave too quickly. Order at the counter. 4. Super rude staff. I've never seen anyone act as rudely as the bigger lady with the glasses. I made an honest mistake (purchased a canned beer and thought I could drink it on the patio) & was berated twice by the same lady who then proceeded to pour out the beer I paid for. This was perhaps an anomalous day, because it was Good Friday, and that means the crowd was large. And the crowd was 40% dogs, and 50% babies. Which isn't really my kind of crowd. Seating was really limited, and we had to stand for an hour before getting a seat. The beer is nice, but no sour beer, which is my favourite at the moment. Staff is very friendly and really awesome, so they have that going for them for sure. The food situation was really sad. The "pop up" the day we went was VEGAN HOT DOGS. Ok, I'll give it a shot...they were awful. I don't want to dock marks from henderson's because "sausage party" was basically the biggest rip-off in the history of food pop-ups, but I think they need to screen their choices better. It almost made me not want to go back to Henderson's, which is not fair to the brewery. read more

Kind of smacked right in the middle of nowhere in an industrial-like zone, but good brews can be found here. The interior is very industrial but it has a certain charm to it. As usual ,a beer flight is the best way to go here....try everything! I enjoyed the Rube Goldbeer Belgian tripel the most on my visit here. read more

Awesome brewery. Can't believe I hadn't been until yesterday. Tried a flight and loved every single beer which NEVER HAPPENS. My favourite was the porter, it had amazing flavour and body. Folks behind the bar were super friendly and the space has a cool vibe. It's quite loud though (especially since they allow dogs which at some points were barking amongst themselves). It was also pretty chilly, we were sitting at the bar near the window and I was really cold. Would love to come back in the summer when the windows can be wide open. After a sun soaked walked past a few candy factories, this place appeared like a mirage in the desert. This warehouse brewery had tons of charm both in the decor and their staff. Despite a limited draft selection, the staff was happy to answer questions, discuss forthcoming projects and recommend some of Toronto's better drinking. The beer I had the opportunity to sample was delicious. The staff explained their brewing cycle and how, while sold in house, the beer isn't widely distributed yet. The small-batch nature of the beer was evident from the subtle flavor changes and crisp bite in ever sip. well done! read more

This seems like a pretty chill place to get beer and hang out. They don't have food, but there was a popcorn machine. It's hidden in an industrial area so if you think you're lost just keep going and you'll get there. There's not much in terms of ambiance but because of how it's set up, it's probably a good place to hang out in good weather. We walked up to the bar to order and instead of getting a flight we both got a pint. I had the Grissette with Meyer Lemon Zest and I really liked it. I also liked that they even brewed a Grisette. It's such a lost beer style and I've only seen one other brewery (Burgeon Brewing in San Diego) do it. I really liked this one. It's similar to a Saison, but it was less herbaceous and more refreshing. The service was ok. I thought we in toward closing because the staff seemed to be in full clean up mode. Then, I realized they still had a good 2 hours before closing. I felt rushed so I didn't order anything else. It wasn't my favorite place to go, but at least the beer was good. read more

We have biked past this place on the rail pathway many times. And we have sampled their beer here and there on tap. But it was only recently that on a cold blustery Sunday afternoon we actually set foot in the place. Embracing the industrial brewery tap room style the space is open and expansive with big windows. The staff is friendly and welcoming, the clients that wandered in and out (some with dogs) seemed like neighborhood familiars. The scene is low key, in a pleasant way. We had a UPA, which was a satisfyingly hopy IPA, a little on the mild side (if you have gotten used to IPA's that are super intense) but tasty. Then we switched to a sour cherry beer that was good but only warranted a single small glass. I liked the vibe and I liked the location and once summer rolls back around I believe we will return. read more
