Broiled Scallops
Donald B.

During a long weekend in Ocean City, MD we visited this popular restaurant for dinner. It was very busy, primarily with families because the establishment has a large playground for children. We were seated out on the deck overlooking the bay where there was the start of a very nice sunset. Our waiter was very nice and since it was so busy I gave him our entire order. We got a house salad and I ordered the Filet and my wife the Scallops but we planned to share these entrees. The salad was nice and crisp wth carrots and cucumbers. The Filet came with mashed potatoes and green beans. The steak was cooked perfectly, seasoned well and was delicious. The Scallops came with crab orzo and was equally delicious. I would love to return and try some other dishes.

This spot was HUGE and great for groups the view outside was incredible. Food was just mid. Drinks ehhh don't bother unless you're having beer - waste of calories. Service okay - not complaining place was busy when we went. My scallops needed salt. Flounder was just okay - nothing to write home about. Not too bad of a spot for families and friends.

It was quite hot inside where we were seated. The food was okay. I think the caprese salad was crazy disappointing for $15, you get two small slices of cheese and half a large tomato. The basil was strewn in shreds across it in a sad presentation. The burger was decent and the fries were good. The appetizers were good and the Miami Vice drinks were nice and refreshing. The server was very nice and did well managing our large party. It also started raining heavily while we were there and we saw a lot of tables that were seated outdoors has quite a bit of trouble getting relocated. It was nice that they had a small playground for kids right outside and I did enjoy the mini pitchers for the water beverages.

We always enjoy the ambiance at Ropewalk. We normally sit outside but opted for inside this time. Our server was prompt and kind. She was very helpful with anything we needed. I enjoyed the crabcake egg rolls and my scallops were good. My kids liked their meals and my husband got wings (not pictured) that won an award from a food competition in OC. He said they were great. My brother in law enjoyed his crawfish and showed me how to pick them. The only thing I wish could have been better was the Caprese salad. The tomatoes weren't ripe and there was no basil on them. There were tiny pieces of basil sprinkled but it would have been nice to get some large leaves. We liked the view of the bay while eating as well. We do enjoy coming here and will be back.

We stopped for a bayside cocktail and some appetizers on our way into OC while waiting to check in. Seated on outside deck, drinks were cold and hit the spot on a hot day. Apps were excellent. Wings, Spinach Artichoke Dip, Oyster Shooter s and Steamed Shrimp. Wonderful way to start our vacation. We went back for dinner later in the week and everything was delicious. It server was excellent as well. Definitely on our visit again list!

Party of six was immediately seated and served. The service was prompt and the food was delivered to the table very quickly. The place has plenty of outdoor seating and a play area. The appetizers were delivered without small plates or silverware so we had to wait The server delivering the appetizers didn't even stop to ask if we needed anything like silverware. It was a drive by at best. The rest of the time there was good.

Stopped into Ropewalk during off season while they were having their 1/2 off entrees! I love how many deals there are during the off season and I would definitely say were ate pretty good here! It was a little busy for a weekday but I attribute that to the deals they had during that day. It took about 15 minutes to be greeted by the server which was disappointing but again it seemed to be a bit busy (~7 other tables). The interior is spacious and the menu is expansive. Our server was attentive and the food came out fast. My halibut entree was $20 and my boyfriend's 2 crabcakes were $25! The halibut would've been great but it was severely overcooked to the point it was hard and dry. Remember to tip on what the full amount would have been! I'd come back here but I'd definitely have lower expectations.

A pretty restaurant with Great views and a wonderful menu. There's one day a week where they do buck a shuck for oysters. Service was good the visits we had after Labor Day.

Get the scallops!! I was a little hesitant to get the scallops because of the price, but it was absolutely worth it and cooked perfectly. Perfect meal to get while at the beach. This spot is always super fun and has amazing drinks and bar if you're not looking for dinner.

Great staff and delicious food. Great drink selection. A bit noisy though but it was a sign of a fun environment!

We stopped into Ropewalk pretty late in the evening, probably about an hour before closing, so it wasn't busy at all. Honestly, that worked in our favor because it had a laid-back, almost locals-only kind of feel, which was perfect for what we wanted--a relaxing nightcap before calling it a night. The bartender was great. I don't remember his name, but he was friendly, welcoming, and didn't make us feel rushed even though we came in so close to closing. He made some really solid drinks, too. I went with their coconut freeze, and he was kind enough to adjust it for me and make it without lime, which I really appreciated since not every place is that accommodating. It was creamy, tropical, and exactly the kind of drink you want at the beach. My friend tried the red, white, and blue drink that came with a firecracker popsicle--super fun presentation and surprisingly really good. Definitely the kind of cocktail that makes you feel like you're on vacation. We didn't get to try the food since the kitchen had already closed by the time we got there, but that was our own fault for coming in so late. From the look of the menu, though, there are definitely things I want to come back for. Ropewalk has the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to spend a little more time there, whether you're eating, drinking, or both. All in all, it ended up being a perfect spot for a late-night drink, and I'm already looking forward to going back earlier in the evening so we can give the food a try. Based on the drinks and service alone, it's worth a visit

The location, view, and service was wonderful. The food was what I have to give 3 stars for, I felt like it could be better. Not sure if it was the scallops or what but immediately afterwards had felt some stomach issues. The interior of the restaurant is clean and nice, the vibe was good, just the food was maybe not the freshest. My opinion of a restaurant is mainly on the food or service then prices and everything else is secondary. Although the service was great, this time the food really ruined it for me. I hope they pay attention to this review and revamp the menu with the best tasting and freshest ingredients, this can make or break a place like this.

SO, we decided we had the time, we were hungry & nearby, so we made our way to what is now called Whiskers Saloon. We were greeted warmly by Jay who was manning both the bar and customers at tables. We took some time to peruse the 2 page menu looking for both old favorites and what's new. I decided to try one of my usual sandwiches, The Rachel for comparison sake & added Sweet potato fries (additional upgrade). I asked & was happy the special spicy sauce I loved to combine with the fries was still available under a different name, Texas sauce. I will say, my sandwich was much better than in "the old days" because this was made with actual carved turkey thick slices as opposed to thin cold cut turkey from prior ownership. I was a happy camper! My hubby tried something new to him at Whiskers, he had a chicken cheesesteak sub and was pleasantly surprised and impressed to find it was not finely chopped up chicken, but cut up grilled chicken chunks with nicely sautéed onions. We were happy to return, pleased to find that good quality & taste was still there and its what we were used to after almost 15 years of frequenting here. We were happy to see Commanders game & flag displayed for this Sunday game with many fans inside boisterously enjoying the game playingon all the tvs. All day specials were going on today and Jay told us everything they were offering on the specially priced menu which was a nice extensive list of bar food and drinks, including $3 Yeungling.

Our server and bartenders were attentive and friendly. Husband was happy with his smash burger. Cons: Food is overpriced and I didn't find my grilled catfish sandwich to have much flavor. They don't tell you on the website that Happy Hour prices is only at the bar. Host experience was weird. I was the only person there and 7 employees having a meeting. I was patiently waiting and the hostess loudly said "We'll be right with you!" as if I was flagging them down. After a few mins she directed another hostess to take us (party of 2) to a specific table number. There were 10-15 open tables outside and we were sat at the worst possible table next to a shed. We requested a different spot and it was great. Beware if they say table 68 to ask for something nicer.
