Rootz Soul Cafe has been one of my favorite spots in South Florida since day one! From the food to the energy, everything about this place hits. The Jamaican Jerk Burger is packed with bold, smoky flavor, the fried rice is perfectly seasoned, and the fried broccoli? O-M-G -- seriously addictive. Even when I order through Uber Eats, my food arrives fresh and full of flavor -- they never miss. I don't know what magic they've got going on back there, but I'm here for it. Whether you're vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, or just into amazing food, Roots Soul Cafe is a must-try. My first time at Rootz Soul Cafe- I've been diving into more vegan options. I stumbled upon this restaurant which is minutes from my house- I went minutes to 12:00 pm. Upon my arrival someone from the back advised someone would be right with me. Wasn't the friendliest of welcome. I went over their menu as they had a wide variety of meals. I wanted to try the Classic Chick'n I was advised by an employee that they were out. I ordered the Oyster Mushroom Chick'n Sandwich with sweet potato fries. I was advised that I had the option of a ranch sauce or the Rootz sauce. I asked what was in the Rootz sauce and was told it had their vegan mayo. Not much more information further- very cold encounter. After about 15 minutes my order was ready- food is made to order. Everything was hot and fresh. The sweet potato fries sweet and delicious. Oh so delicious!! So glad i opted to order in via Uber, otherwise wouldn't have found this vegan place! Mine: Bacon burger/ regular fries. His: classic Chik'n burger / sweet potato fries. This is a restaurant with vegan options, which I appreciate. I got the vegan chicken dinner that comes with greens and mac. I also decided to try the vegan fish tacos. The vegan chicken dinner was ok but wasn't able to finish it. The Greens and Mac lacked flavor and the chickn pieces were a bit tough and hard to chew. The vegan fish tacos looked so delicious, until I took a bite. It was so so salty. I tried to push through and eat it because it did have good flavor, but the salt was overpowering. I'm going to let it be known straight away, I'm here for Atlas Monroe! Not that I have anything against vegetarian, vegan, or any meat alternative movement....it's just not something I seek out. But being a fan of shark tank, I, like many was intrigued by the Atlas Monroe pitch to say the least. Yes the turning down of a million dollars was a wow moment, but the idea that fried chicken can be award winning and not even be actual chicken was beyond me. Their business model is to build relationships and service different restaurants around the country, and also online retail. Lucky for me it has made its way all the way to south Florida via Rootz. Rootz is a vegetarian cafe serving burgers, tacos, bowls, salads and wraps. They even have their own bottles juices and water. The staff is attentive and super gracious. All food is made to order, piping hot upon arrival. On to the main attraction....the ultimate fried Chikn. On outer appearance, it certainly looks the part. The chicken is Super crispy and flavorful. The texture is undoubtedly reminiscent of the real thing. The biggest difference being the color of the 'meat' being more beige than white. The breading pretty much makes this what it is, a very good fried chicken alternative. Not to be forgotten, it comes with some of the best fries I've had in recent memory. I am never shy about my love for fried chicken. Sure I came for the Atlas Monroe chikn, but the overall quality has me wanting to come to try more menu items! The veggies on the burgers are never fresh. The burger tasted as if it were fried in old oil. They should do better with how the food is handled here. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't pass their next health inspection. I've tried this place maybe 3 or 4 times over the last year and the lettuce on the burger has NEVER been fresh. I discovered this spot while searching for a vegan/vegetarian spot. It's officially my go to spot for delicious no meat option. I first tried the beyond burger salad! And omg it was good. It was jam packed with flavor. Here's a foodie tip: get a side order of sweet plantains and add to the salad!!! YUMMMYY!!! Then on another trip I tried the no pig "bacon" burger. It was also good. It satisfied my burger craving. The service was super great. I was met with a smile. The restaurant is a decent size to dine in, there's even a grass wall for photos. This was my first order after seeing a negative review prior to mine I decided to order exactly what the previous reviewer had (the chik'n sandwich and fries via uber eats delivery. ) My sandwich arrived still hot after 25 mins in the drivers car with one stop before me! A flawless well put together sandwich with a fresh piece of lettuce and freshly cut tomato melted cheese. A hefty and surprisingly juicy and flavorful chik'n sandwich it was undoubtedly . I dont always eat vegan but i wanted to see what the hype was about. I was really impressed that it had a brand on the bun just like the menu photo had too! So let me just say, everything i've tasted from this place thus far has been bomb and keeps me coming back. The salmon burger is delicious and well seasoned. I know fries can be "basic" but their sweet potato crinkle cut fries comes with a marshmallow dip and let me tell you this, I was confused at first because i've never seen such a pairing before but it's by far the best thing i've had here. I can come back just for it but I gotta watch my carbs lol. Upon my first visit, I had the chick'n sandwich and everything about it was scrumptious. The bun is perfectly toasted and buttered. First let me say that I found this place last week Sunday on Uber eats while at a friends house and I was so delighted. We ordered and enjoyed the lasagna (even though they didn't give me any garlic bread) and ultimate chicken sandwich. I told a friend about it so we ordered this past Friday, again through Uber eats. This time I ordered an extra meal just so I can eat it again later that night. So the next day (Saturday) I was driving to get coconut water and I saw the rootz sign and decided to order those delicious tacos through Uber eats while I wait for my coconut water. This is my first time doing a Uber eats pick up so when I arrive and greeted the lady at the front and told her my name and she said it will be a few more minutes. I then asked if I need to pay, she says yes and rings my order again. I thought that was odd but what do I know. She tells me how much it is and I pay. Then I looked over at the Uber eats receipt and it said no money is due. So I said to the attendant, it looks like I paid for my order twice. She said well you asked to pay. I said I was enduring that I paid for my order and she could have corrected me if I was wrong but it's no problem. She said now I have to call someone. She goes to the back to talk to someone and they come back together to call someone. They go through the process of refunding me less $1.07 for extra sauce which is fine. I then moved to the side and waited for my order. Someone else comes in for an order and she asked for extra sauce. The attendant says theirs sauce on your tacos already. She says well can I have more? She says it will be 50 cents and she agrees and walks away. So we look at each other and I said I don't know why she's so frustrated. The customer said me either and I don't even want the sauce anymore or this food and but I'm getting my hair done and walks out before the attendant could return with the sauce. The attendant comes back and says I'm not frustrated. I said well it's coming off that way. She said no you initiated that. I said ma'am I'm not here to argue, we can feel your frustration from across the counter. She continues her banter as she packs my food and and stopped to ask me if I want the extra sauce, I said the sauce that I paid for? Yes, I do. She said I didn't charge you for sauce and I show her my receipt. She says have a good day, I said and you have a better one. I share this story because it's the lack of customer service that will make customers not return not the food. I guess it was good for the 3 visits in 6 days. So sad. read more

Great spot for small group 1-4 people. I was riding in the area waiting to go to an appointment, found this place on Yelp and decided to give them a try. I'm so not disappointed. My eating mood has been up and down lately as I have been feeling like I'm tired of eating (but still hungry of course). I'm so glad I didn't have to travel far to find something new (to me). In the spirit of plant based, I wanted to eat vegan but didn't really want the plant taste. I ordered the chicken, with Mac and cheese, and collard greens and it was awesome!! I would have asked for more if I didn't finish it so quick as I couldn't stop eating.. My partner ordered the bacon burger which had the logo on the bun that did not interrupt the softest perfection of the bun. I have tried so many vegan burgers and some people go wrong and use a tacky cashew cheese that doesn't belong on a burger if it is not done right. Very great portion of the burger and fries. And finally a place that does not cheap out on fresh lettuce! You can taste all the love that was put into the burger and fries. Oh if you're looking for a home cooked vegan food this is a spot. It's not super fancy but it still looks nice inside. Presentation of the plates is pretty good and the flavors say vegan home cooking. I ordered the fried broccoli, fried chicken ranch sandwich, and Stuffed shells. Everything was vegan. The fried broccoli was everything as the saying goes. I loved it, the kids loved it, and the hubster loved it too. Fried chicken sandwich was homestyle fried, nothing super fancy and the kids enjoyed it as well. I will say however I believe it was made out of wheat gluten instead of soy. I appreciate that very much. I was actually worried driving there that it will be a soy chicken sandwich. As for the stuffed shells meal my husband really enjoyed it, I pinched a little off his plate and I enjoyed the taste of it as well. The stuffed shells are not normally on their menu. When you look online you won't see the specials on the menu because well they're specials. You should call and ask what are the specials of the day so you know. This restaurant offers pescatarian items along with the vegan menu. Kind of like a Rastafarian vibe as far as the menu goes. I would say American urban/hipster vibe on the inside. The staff was very nice and all the customers were engaged in conversation with each other and the staff. So here I am to amend my first review. Def sticking w my 4 stars. This spot is pretty dang good. We tried the vegan chikn plate and the teriyaki tacos and the classic chikn sandwich. It was all very good. One heads up, the chikn plate says nothing about bbq but it came covered with barbecue sauce on it. I personally don't mind, I asked for a side of bbq when I placed my order, they didn't honor my request but it was covered in it so that's fine! But if you are expecting like a fried chickn type of deal like I did, this is not that. Also I like that they go through and read their reviews because they changed their description on Uber eats to include that the ribs are made of tempeh (per my original review here) and they changed their ginger shot to say agave. Hopefully they actually changed the ingredients and didn't just change the description but it's something to consider as a customer! Very tasty; looking forward to trying something new next time. I came here last Saturday and was pretty disappointment with my experience. The food was pretty good. But I paid an extra $2 for my burger to have ranch and avocado and there was no avocado. Plus I literally have a half slice of tomato on my entire sandwich. Also, I feel like the juice should have a price. $9 per bottle is a lot.
