I went to RootVision Endo for a dental emergency with tremendous nerve pain. It was a terrible experience. When I first arrived, I asked if they could numb my mouth so I could fill out my intake forms. They completely ignored my pain. Instead, I was told I had to pay $265 for a 3D CBCT scan not covered by insurance. They did not disclose this fee before I arrived. I told them I could not afford it and pleaded for help with my pain. The doctor did not even introduce himself and immediately jumped into a sales pitch for a consultation. After all of that, they told me I would have to wait over an hour because the doctor was working on other patients. They offered me absolutely nothing to help ease my pain while I waited. They just wasted my time. I should have gone straight to the emergency room instead of coming here. read more

So strongly would not recommend I left this office feeling pressured, confused, and honestly taken advantage of. From the start, it felt more like a sales pitch than a medical consultation. I was told I had to pay close to $300 out of pocket for a CT scan because they supposedly couldn't see what was going on with my teeth due to the poor quality X-ray . I was quoted over 1 grand for a CT scan and two root canals with insurance. Thus, I decided to get a second opinion at Long Beach Endodontics, the difference was night and day. Their standard X-rays were clear, detailed, and showed the roots of all my teeth perfectly and a CT scan was not ever brought up or recommended at all. What's even more concerning is that the doctor (Dr. Choi) at RootVision Endo recommended: * A root canal on a tooth that did not need one * A re-treatment of an existing root canal that was completely fine because of a tiny "shadow" on the X-ray but the Dr would not tell me what the shadow indicated (and rolled his eyes when I continued asking questions) The second specialist confirmed that my existing root canal looked perfectly healthy and stated they would be very hesitant to recommend a root canal on the other tooth at all. It's incredibly unsettling to think I was being pushed toward unnecessary and expensive procedures based on poor imaging and questionable recommendations. Dentistry is already stressful and costly -- patients should not have to worry about whether they're being overtreated for profit. If you value honest diagnostics and conservative treatment, I strongly suggest getting a second opinion before agreeing to anything from this office. I'm extremely grateful I did. read more

Zero consideration for your time. I was referred here and so I scheduled an appt. Original time they had always for 11:30am. I agreed and scheduled. They called me back a few hours later saying they can take me at 11am instead. I agreed. Day of, I arrive at 10:55am. Waited until 12 noon and no updates so I asked how much longer. Answer was 15-20 mins more. What's the purpose of scheduling an appt if you're not going to honor it? I get the medical stuff there's a wait, but don't call me to say you're available earlier and make me wait longer than my original time. Dr. Sam Yun is the GOAT! Had a root canal with him. I actually got a bit of rest while he was doing it. The painful part was injecting anesthesia. However the pressure and drilling was painless! Is it funny to say I had a great experience getting dental work? I have never had such a smooth experience at any other office. Wait time was long, but it took a while to check my insurance, which I appreciate. I was the only patient, and my assessment went quickly. I did need a root canal and they were able to accommodate me right away. Procedure took about an hour, and it was smooth and professional, and I felt confident about my care. First they take a low quality X-ray then they ask you to have a 3D X-ray which would cost you $280 just for the X-ray then. Some root canal specialist don't charge for the 3D X-ray, it would be cheaper if you could call other places that don't charge for it. read more

And then they are unapologetic about the wait time, and just expect you to accept the delay. Then they pushed for getting a CT scan. Then the doctor whom I had met the first time left their clinic, and they wanted me to come in again for a consultation to have another doctor review my file again. I would agree that this needs to be done if I change clinics, but it's the same clinic! They have all the data! One of my biggest fears is the dentist!! Even thinking about it makes me start to panic. So when I needed a root canal, my panic was in full force. But let me tell you. This was a easy peasy root canal. Once the meds kicked in everything was pain free!!! The dentist made me super comfortable from the minute I sat down. Staff called me a few days before my appointment to confirm. They called me as I was on my way to see how I was feeling. They even texted me to let me know my medication was ready for pick up. So what happens here? Let me fill you in. They take you back into the room and get you in the chair. They take a few xrays then apply a q tip with numbing gel. Then a few minutes later a couple of injections. After that they prep your tooth with a little cage, insert a bite block to keep your mouth open, put some protective sunglasses on you then get to work. It takes about an hour. After the root canal they put in a temporary filling. Then onto a different dentist for the crown. The drilling is a little loud and has that weird smell but it doesn't hurt. Just a little vibrating sensation. Payment is expected at time of service. Staff is super friendly. There are a handful of rooms where root canals are performed all day long. You are in good hands. read more

I writing this review to !!!!WARN!!!! people to be careful and not get scammed by this company because it does make it easier for them to up-charge you when you are in pain and want that pain gone. I did like the fact that I was able to get a appointment right away because it was an emergency. I needed a emergency root canal done. And the pain was unbearable. The receptionist was nice the whole time I was there but..... I have very good insurance that covers most costs for any dental procedures done. After I was done with the appointment the receptionist came out with a total out of pocket to be almost 700$. And on top of that a unnecessary CT scan of 265$ out of pocket that is not covered by your insurance but they don't mention any of that to you.! All they say is the dentist needs a CT scan and take you where they do that. And I was in a lot of pain so I'm assuming it's part of the consultation because you can hear them tell ALL the patients in the other little rooms a CT scan is needed. But when I was actually talking to the dentist, not once did he bring up the CT scan and was only looking at the X-rays that they normally take. So don't be scammed by that CT scan it's not necessary! I did decline the root canal treatment there and got a second opinion and I'm so glad I did because that CT scan cost more than the whole root canal procedure done. No unnecessary CT scan needed or extra charges that almost cost me 700$ out of pocket not covered by your insurance. Avoid at all costs! I was told when I walked in that the Dr may require a CT scan for a re-treatment on a root canal previously done. I let them know I wasn't really up for a CT scan because it wasn't covered by my insurance and we proceeded with the consultation. The hygienist took 2 X-rays and went to "develop them". When she came back she told me that "after looking at your X-Rays the Dr wants to get a CT scan because he doesn't feel comfortable that he has a full picture of what is going on in the tooth." This was confusing to me because the Dr had left 5 minutes before my x-ray to take a call in his car, so while she was "talking to the Dr" he was in has car having a very intense conversation that I was watching him from my chair. She then went back to get the Dr and was told by someone else that he wasn't in the building and that someone should let him know that he has patients in chairs. He then came in 5 minutes later and told me about all the amazing things the CT scan did for him and about all the extraordinary techniques and equipment that he used like the laser treatment (also not covered by insurance) that would work wonders, as he drew it all up on the TV for me to see. I then let them know that I wasn't interested in treatment from them because I couldn't trust them based on everything I just experienced. I paid my copay for the X-ray and left. It would not surprise me if they do this to every patient so that they can pad the cost of every procedure. I do not trust these people one bit. I've never had that type of experience in a dental office ever, being told by someone that the dentist had reviewed and recommended something when he clearly didn't even know he had patients waiting. read more

Told me my ins didn't cover CT scan when gone back due to an issue with root canal they did previously - so paid full. Trusting them. Bad idea once I got my ins EOB. They over charged me and I was covered for the CT scan. Called back to fight charges. In the end I disputed charges with my Credit Card company and approved only the EOB amt. They take too long. Went back to past EOBs when I got the root canal from them and found the same. I was over charged compared to EOB. Waiting for them to call me back for refund. Takes long time. read more

As everyone else has mentioned, they push the $260 CT scan which is very odd coming from a dental office. The root canal procedure was going to cost me less than the scan. When you decline the scan they make comments about not being able to afford it. Two of the women that helped me were very rude and condescending, one being a manager I believe, and the other a Hispanic front desk employee. I came here for a consult after my general dentist referred me for a root canal retreatment. While sitting and waiting for the endodontist, I realized there was a small chance I could be pregnant and informed the dental assistant prior to the X-ray. She told the Dr who proceeded to tell me I "need to hurry up and find out". When I asked why I had to get my root canal redone and why my regular dentist couldn't do it she said "well obviously they didn't do it right so we have to fix it". They told me I had to pay $200 for a CT scan and when I asked why they needed a CT scan they told me "because it's just what we need." First time here 11:00 appt which I was here 10 minutes early 11:30 still waiting. Was taken back for an X-ray and exam was told I did need a root canal I would need to wait until 1:45 for my procedure. I wasn't not made aware of this, which should have actually been a 2 appt visit. I am not happy the way this was handled. I saw Dr. Kevin Choi who performed a re-root canal on a previous root canal that had become infected. I was in so much pain! I called the office at 9am, got an appt at 12pm same day, had the procedure and was out by 2pm. He was incredibly thorough and kind, he explained everything in great detail and still asked if I had any questions. No complaints on root canal work. My complaint is that either front desk does not know what they are doing, or they just do not care and hope you will not notice how they over charge you. When I went there I was told I needed a CT Scan. I never got to see the CT Scan image during consultation and to my knowledge Dr. did not even look at it. Then I was told by front desk insurance does not cover CT Scan and I owed $200 only for the CT Scan, with additional charges. I asked if I was being quoted the contracted amount or health care amount, their answer was contracted amount. Once I got the claim thru Cigna I realized they charged for health care amount. I ended up paying them more than double of what I should have paid. Took about 6 weeks/calls for me to get my refund back. If you end up going here be prepared to pay $200 for CT Scan, and pay for Health Care amount. You will then need a lot of time and patience to have them give you a refund. read more

I got a root canal last year so this review is long overdue. I was in serious pain and came here same day from the recommendation of my general dentist. I was seen same day for the consult where I was examined and took X-rays. Then I was able to come back later in the day to get the actual root canal procedure done. Everyone was friendly and professional. I was extremely nervous and scared. This was my first root canal ever! I liked how the doctor warned me about the numbing and how it would feel. One of the numbing injections was probably the only discomfort I felt which was to be expected. After that, I felt zero pain or discomfort.
