Yesterday, April 7, 2026, I had my first experience at LAE. They could not have been more wonderful. I needed a root canal on a molar that already had a crown from over 15 years ago. Dr. Millar was very thorough in explaining my choices and how the procedure would go; as well as, very gentle and efficient in conducting the cleaning of the infected canals, with no pain for me. Now, 24 hours later, the abscess that was on the outside gums of the tooth is almost complete gone. 12/11/24 Did she say root canal!? YIKES! Referred to Los Alamitos by Dr. Kim, seeing Dr. Livingood. All the dental offices I have visited pretty much look dated but the equipment appears top of the line, the same is true for this office. Kate at the front desk warmly & pleasantly greeted me, knew I was sent by Dr. Kim. Her smile & professionalism made the world of a difference to my experience here. I felt more at ease knowing this is my first encounter with the staff. Kate assisted me patiently in completing my new patient forms. Janet was next, she kindly explained the procedures & took my health information thoroughly. Everything was seamless. CT (computer tomography & x-rays were taken in no time at all. 2/2/26 I'm back for my 2nd root canal procedure in 2 weeks as we could not get both done at the same time because of my sore jaw. Just like the 1st time back last week, both Dr. Livingood & Janet explained everything going on every step of the way. This place is a total rip off. They charge almost $200 for a consultation (that only lasted 5-8 minutes with the actual Doctor) and almost $300 for a CT Scan (which is standard for this office- something you cannot elect not to do) and knowing insurance does not cover. The office is run down as it looks like it is stuck in the 90s incl the machines and the decor. Parking is limited and I just felt like this place does not care for the patient especially when they are walking in for urgent care and consultation. Staff were ok and decent, but the pricing of this place was totally off the charts for the service they provided. The CT scan wasn't even used and they took two regular X-Rays which is what they used and can bill the insurance company for. Lastly, I didn't even get an itemized receipt! I would not recommend coming here. Do your research first and call around rather than going off their yelp review which seems a bit off - no estab. can have all 5 stars.. read more

I have an update.... There was some leftover nerve tissue that wasn't seen the first time (I asked and this happens 10% of the time - lucky me was in the 10%) ha! I just had my root canal redo. My nerves were better this time as I knew what to expect but I still wasn't looking forward to it. Dental work is the worst! Dr. Polk is kind, has a calm demeanor and was good at letting me know what was happening. The staff is also very friendly. I'm glad that is behind me now. I had been suffering from tremendous tooth pain over the weekend and was desperate for help. I called Los Al Endo first thing Monday morning, and they were able to get me in before my regular dentist. The front office staff was super helpful in scheduling and outlining cost. I just had a root canal done with Dr Millar and his assistant, Mikayla. I have to admit I was very anxious about it, because it was my very first root canal. The whole office is very kind and gentle and I have nothing but high praise for them. It was virtually painless. A root canal is usually not something that we look forward to, but Dr. Livingood made the experience as comfortable as possible. Frequent, the injection of local anesthetics could be the most painful aspect of the entire procedure, but Dr. Livingood expertly administered the anesthetics with minimal discomfort. He was also efficient but meticulous, and I had very little discomfort after the procedure when the effect of the anesthetics wore off. The staff was also friendly and accommodating. Not to be trusted! This office did a root canal on a questionably cracked tooth and stated that if it needed to be extracted in time there would be a partial refund. Well, after trying to preserve the tooth as long as possible, the tooth was eventually extracted, but the office REFUSED to provide the refund. At the time of the root canal, no time limit was ever stated that the extraction needed to take place in order to get the refund. So, my fault trusting these people. read more

My dentist was not thorough at all we discovered, and quoted me a ridiculous amount with a bunch of unnecessary add-ons.
