MANY steps have been taken to improve their recent low grade health score & it shows. It's clear that the new chef is putting his heart and soul into his dishes & has so many additions to the menu in the works! We had a beautiful & delicious Chefs Table Dinner. All 5 courses were amazing and our server, Tayla, was the sweetest! Ask for her the next time you dine-in!

Mold, improper holding of foods that are ready to eat, expired and spoiled food, dirty equipment, storing raw seafood above sweet potatos..

FAILED HEALTH INSPECT SCORE OF 46 We were here 2 days prior to this. Meaning we ate moldy, spoiled, improperly stored food. I attach the report so you can read it. A 46 means you never clean. Maybe they should quit worrying about making their restaurant a "fine dining experience" with $30 appetizers, and a members only cigar bar that you have to pay a membership fee to get into and worry about their food safety! As someone that lives in woodstock and frequently spends time in downtown woodstock I will never be back.

Orange Chocolate Cocktail - It was magic! Loved it.

Rustic but trendy vibe with great food. We showed up on a Saturday night and were seated straight away. It was still pretty busy, and I don't know if being seated quickly would always happen that easily on a weekend night. I had the best seared scallops dish I've ever had. The marriage of different flavors was amazing and somewhat surprising. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. My son enjoyed the lamb lollipops and the chicken & waffle starters, and my husband had the bistro steak. The only complaint the whole night was my husband didn't prefer the crust on the steak. He thought it tasted a little burned. We finished off with a crème brûlée trio and chocolate tart with an Oreo base. They were both delicious, but take note, the chocolate tart can become very rich after a few bites. The service was excellent through out our meal. We parked in a nearby lot and walked a short distance to the restaurant.

After living in Woodstock for 4 years, my husband and I finally had the opportunity to enjoy happy hour at Rootstock. I really enjoyed the restaurant's aesthetic; it's definitely something different and more elevated than the other downtown restaurants. We learned that the menu had recently been overhauled to now include entrees, which I definitely want to return to try. We started with drinks -- an Old Fashioned for my husband and a Georgia Mule for me -- which were both good. We stuck with the small plates and a dessert for HH, trying the Lemon Whipped Ricotta, the Bacon Shrimp, and the Ube Cheesecake. All three were great and something I would order again. Our first visit to Rootstock gave us a nice preview to the restaurant, and I hope to return in the near future for the full menu experience.

The ambiance was awesome! I sat on the rooftop & had a great view! Started off with the grilled octopus (REALLY scrumptious, along with the potatoes that came with it), & also the tuna tataki (very tender & yummy). For entrees, I ordered the lamb porterhouse, cooked at the recommended temperature... it was a bit chewy but very flavorful... the mashed potatoes & asparagus were seasoned & cooked to perfection. My friend had the salmon & said it was very delicious as well. Ended with the carrot cake, which was VERY rich & delicious. The customer service was excellent!

Wagyu strip, Duck

If you haven't been to Rootstock in a while you have to try their new menu. Its great to go with a group of friends so you can try more. For appetizers the tuna tataki and the strawberry and fig salad were delicious. For entrees the Elk ribeye is my favorite. The wagyu strip was rich and delicious, the duck went perfectly with the sides, and while i am not usually a black grouper fan, I was that night. The service and ambience were on point... they were always great but they really have come a long way since the last time I was here.

I read the reviews, but still decided to give Rootstock a shot. We went for a Friday date night and had a great time overall. It got pretty busy, so I was glad we have a reservation. We asked to sit on the roof and had to wait a little bit but, the roof was the best part. Let me put this review in perspective - I know we are in Woodstock, so I didn't expect mind blowing food. Here is an overview: Vibes: 5 stars! The roof was beautiful and service was great. There is also a music room where there was more of a party vibe if that is your thing. Drinks: 3 stars. The Margarita was okay - at least it wasn't made with sour mix. The Summer Breeze was good. I cant remember what the other two were called, but nothing was very creative or memorable Food: 3 stars. We ordered quite a few things to try. It all looks beautiful, but taste unbelievably basic. The lamb lollipops were too salty, octopus was okay but had 3 pieces of octopus, goat cheese fondue was bland, poundcake was just okay, and matcha cheesecake was good but you couldn't taste the matcha. We spent $150 with tip for a very average meal. Again, I know we were in Woodstock, but if you want to charge atlanta prices, the food should live up to the price. Good vibes, but I wouldn't go back for the food.

Stopped in while in the Woodstock area with friends and I'm glad we did! We weren't expecting the live music upstairs. I'm glad we got seated up there. We had already eaten, so we only ordered dessert. It made for a great end to our day out in Woodstock. I stepped outside on to the balcony because the sunset was gorgeous! If you like creme brûlée, definitely go for the trio to try 3 flavors at once! The pan fried pound cake surprised me. It was delicious with the ice cream! Parking: I noticed a parking lot diagonally across the street. We parking a short walk away in a neighborhood.

Located in downtown Woodstock. Awesome vibes on the rooftop. The weather was perfect. Servers were knowledgeable, fast and friendly. The food was A-1! Perfect! No complaints. Parking was a task but I was able to find a space near the restaurant.

Date night!

Before we ordered we asked our server about a few menu items shown on Yelp. And she didn't even recognize some of the items and when she saw the item she said, yeah that's not how it looks like anymore. We all laughed and tried the French onion (too salty), Spanish mussels (some of the mussels were spoiled), crab dip with lamb meatballs (dip was good and meatballs were gamey), and pork belly (tasted good came with 4 pieces of pork belly). If you're going out to Woodstock to have a drink and chat amongst friends over some tapas style servings and looking for a nice chill atmosphere then this is the place for you. As for date night, the food for us was not up to par for the price we paid and we expected better. The quality of the food was not what we were expecting based on the price we paid. Normally if a meal is good, I can't wait to get another bite to eat, but I found myself just eating because I didn't want to let the food go to waste. The food is not bad. It's not excellent either. On a good note. The staff is very hospitable and accommodating. The location is clean and tidy. Maybe next time the food will be better. For now I can only go by our experience. We might try this place again but not any time soon.

They have a great cocktail menu, and the bar seems well stocked to deliver classic and craft drinks. Prices run around $10-$15 for most, beers around $7. Food wise, JD's On Main has a creative menu that includes barbecue, American Southern , traditional and revamped bar appetizers and food, and some elevated entrees. Service at the bar was excellent. Reservations: We didn't make a reservation ahead of time; not sure if you can. We walked in and sat ourselves since we went to the rooftop. If sitting downstairs or on the patio, we would've been immediately seated by the host. Parking: It's downtown Woodstock so parking can get tricky. We both lucked out in finding spots nearby and had a short walk to the restaurant. There is parking in front of the restaurant, but it's not likely that it will be available. Food: We ordered chips and queso; chicken fajitas; and the ensalada de verano with shrimp. I was hoping for a taco salad, but they don't offer that. Chips and queso were delicious. Would definitely get again. For those sensitive to salt, the chips may be too much for you. I love salt so they were perfect for me. My friend enjoyed her chicken fajitas. My salad was okay; I wouldn't order it again. The shrimp had a burnt flavor to it, and although I did appreciate the summer flavor of the salad overall, I wasn't impressed with the dish in its entirety. Drinks: We both ordered the Skinny Love. Mine was on the rocks and my friend got hers frozen. I thought it was fine - nothing to write home about though. Vibe: The rooftop is a fun spot. You get a view of downtown Woodstock, depending on where you sit. Be mindful it is outside so you may get bugs/flying insects pay you a visit. Our sever, Christian, was a vibe. We found a high-top table with a great view overlooking downtown Woodstock. Our server quickly came by to provide some menus. We reviewed the drink options --I went with the Creature Comforts Tropicana, while Wifey opted for a refreshing strawberry spritzer. For starters, we ordered Queso Con Todo, and a round of chips that arrived nice and hot. The queso was definitely not your standard dip. It had a generous helping of shredded chicken mixed in. It looked a little greasy at first glance, but it didn't taste that way at all--smooth, flavorful, and very good. For mains, Wifey ordered the chicken taquitos served with rice and charro beans, and I went with a grilled chicken breast, paired with black beans and rice. Everything we tasted was on the make. A solid experience overall. Great food, laid-back atmosphere, and that view of downtown just tied it all together.

The menu is not the largest I've seen in a Mexican restaurant and there was no "lunch menu," but the prices were good and I like the fact that you can order items a la carte. I chose chicken soup and an enchilada; my brother ordered fajitas. The food was delicious! My brother said the fajitas were the best he's had in a very long time and they were reasonably priced as well. My soup was lovely and the enchilada tasty. The chips here are also some of the best I've had in a while, super thin and crispy. At the end of our meal, we were brought a free dessert (sopapillas drizzled in chocolate with whipped cream on the side). Yummy! The service was also amazing. He said he couldn't find the little books the checks go in, but that was really not necessary especially since we told him we were in a hurry. We wanted to put two checks on one card for the birthday girl and that confused the heck out of him. It's also a pet peeve of mine when dirty dishes aren't cleared from the table. Two people ordered the fish tacos. They said they were decent, but a little bland. One said her tortillas were way over-charred. Two ordered the salmon blt. One asked for the bacon on the side and they both came that way, which is not a problem just kind of weird. They said the sandwich was good but not wow. They subbed asparagus for their side and it was served very cold. One order the Caesar salad for her meal and it was tiny! When the waiter finally came with our checks it turned out that he put it in as a side salad not an entree. If you thought all someone ordered was a side salad, wouldn't you double check that? She was so hungry after and since he never checked on us we had no one to ask. Two of us ordered the crab risotto. It was pretty yummy but a little one note. There was a ton of parmesan on top and a decent amount of asparagus and corn. It was hard to tell how much crab was really in it since it blended in with the risotto (and for the cost I assumed there wouldn't be much crab).
