This place is usually busy so be patient. We finally got in here and I have to say it was worth it. They had a Bloody Mary burger as their special. I got the single w no cheese. A+ on presentation. This looked beautiful and tasted even better. I did get the tomato and cucumber salad as my side. Normally it is marinated in a dressing and this was just in an oil. Not a fan. One of my tablemates got fries and they came w a special sauce and they were very good. You can also get fresh popped popcorn while you wait for your meal which is always a win. The food here was great! This was our first time trying it and we ordered carryout. I had the Southern Pride Burger with pimento cheese on it and it was just a tad on the spicy side. But the type of spicy that you can't stop eating, delicious. I got fries for my side, my husband had the tots with his Sloppy Japoly burger- both are great options. The tots were extra crispy, no soggy tots = 2 thumbs up. They were served with a side of their house sauce, which tastes/looks like a thin honey mustard. We got our order to-go. The food was great, but I had to knock off a star based on our carryout experience. We arrived to pickup at our scheduled pickup time and our order was not ready. They haven't even made it, even though we ordered hours in advance to schedule pick for that specific time. After I placed the order, I even called and verified that they had gotten it & the correct time since I had received a text messages saying our order was going to be ready at a different time. Ok y'all. We went back to Roots. In Muncie. Compared to the one in Carmel, I gotta say...the vibe is great, it's bigger, the service was stellar, the food was delicious, and I chew corrected. Thank you to the GM for reaching out about my previous review. There were fur babies outside, great music, as always the jalapeño popper sauce was money, and Dave's gosh sandwich could have fed the whole place. We'll go back to our Roots (we live in Muncie - see what I did there?) time and time again. You should, too!! Oh! So first off- this was a grubhub delivery. So full disclosure. BUT. The location is 2 miles away. The burgers were fine enough, nothing crazy good.. The pickle chips were very soggy- like filled with mashed potatoes soggy. We ordered broccoli, didnt get it with the order. Also ordered a malt- they subbed it with peanut butter pie which we wont eat and didnt want. No option to change or refuse the pie- paid for it no matter what. Said the malt shake was out of stock. Absolutely delicious! I am a bit mad at myself for waiting so long to try them out. I ordered to go for my family and myself. We all loved our burgers and fries. The fry sauce is wonderful as well. Extremely popular spot for lunch and dinner alike. Good menu beyond just the burgers, but the burgers are consistently outstanding. I do either the single or double depending on how hungry I am, but it's nice to know the triple is an option too! My wife loves the fried Brussels sprouts or dill chips appetizers while I'm munching on the free popcorn. Then she orders the Impossible Burger while I get the All-American, but there are a bunch of creative options on the menu as well. Very popular spot and a great place to see people. The place was very busy. We were expecting slow service and were prepared to wait patiently. We were very surprised by prompt service with drinks and food. An excellent waiter and the food was more than we expected. Delicious burgers, great milk shakes and so many side choices. Where did they get there Recipes? One of the best burgers you will ever have but today something special happened. I tried the tenderloin. I have traveled all of Indiana and I know this. South Bend isn't South and North Vernon isn't North, and French Lick isn't what you think it is. I also know this is the best Tenderloin I've ever had with crispy fries. So, they took over my favorite restaurant Scotty's so of course I had to try them out. Their food was actually pretty good!! The service took quite a while on a non-busy evening. But it was worth the wait. Although, they are pricey and for their burgers to be so thin, I would probably go back and order again. I believe I got the sloppy jalopy and it was $12.00 for two patties. Their fries were delicious with their special sauce, so I recommend that! read more

Formerly known as Scotty's, I had the chance to go back to this revamped bar and grill this weekend for the first time in years. The atmosphere continues to be similar to how it previously has been in the past. The burgers are slightly different though now. Instead of the typical burger, Roots specializes in thin patties, giving the customer the option to do a single, double, or triple decker sandwich. I used to always get the Scheuman burger, but now it is just known as the PB and J burger, which still has jalapeños - and yes it is still extremely satisfying. Pricing really hasn't changed either, which is good for the typical college student. Next time I go back you better believe I will be doing a triple decker! read more

Roots Burger Bar might not be as good as it's previous tenant, Scotty's brewhouse, but it's darn close. Visited for my first time last Thursday and little did we know all pints were $3. Hell yea!! We arrived about 530 and were seated right away. It wasn't that busy and then about 630 the place was packed. A very large portion of the customers were college aged which is fine by me. They also had live music in that night. It started around 630 or 7 and was just a one man show with a guitar. It was the perfect setting and the musician was awesome and had great interaction with the patrons. The place had a wonderful beer selection with probably 20+ beers on tap. The food menu as you can see from the pictures I posted has a nice selection of burgers and many other treats. I opted for the Italian beef which is one of my favorite sandwiches ever. It was a great tasting sandwich with plenty of flavor and a load of beef. The only thing missing would be some traditional red sauce on it. Great new spot! Love the name, the atmosphere, and the commitment to community. Ball state and Muncie are lucky to have this new burger place. Great options and many unique flavor combination like the South by Southwest our 14 year old gobbled down. I am doing a Whole30 reset and was able to find options. Veggie options, gluten free bun available and you can modify as you need. Roots is in the business to serve the unique customer with a unique menu! Wait staff was pleasant and attentive - we had a party of 9 and not one water cup was empty throughout the meal! Will we go back? YOU BET!! I was visiting Muncie for a work function and found Roots Burger Bar on Yelp. I started with the fried Brussels sprouts and they were very delicious. The spicy soy dressing was the perfect complement to the sprouts. For my entree, I ordered the PB&J burger with fries. I was very impressed by the delicious burger. I'm sure some might be appalled by having peanut butter and elderberry jam on a burger, but it is an awesome combination. I had a slice of cheesecake for dessert that was good, but not anything that was as amazing as the rest of the meal. The serving sizes are pretty big and the service was fast and friendly. Because of the health crisis, I don't think I got the full atmosphere of Roots, but I'll definitely be back next time I am in Muncie. read more
