The breading on the fish & shrimp was seriously some of the best I've ever had. It had flavor, it was seasoned, it was fresh, it wasn't oily, & it was not a heavy batter. The fish & shrimp were so good I want to return & get them again. The sides however were nothing special. I ordered taters as one side. It turned out to be 3 small red potatoes drowning in butter. I had the Oysters Rockafeller at the bar with a bourbon while waiting on a to go order. Both the oysters and the bourbon was great! The bartender told me they had a fried pork chop special and I decided to try it. I am glad I did. It was delicious and the Cajun grits were as well. I came here after a work meeting after having this place bookmarked forever. The restaurant appears to be more of a briny type seafood place rather than an upscale seafood place - fine by me, I'm ok with both. The food is what sells the place here. I had the salmon oscar and it was absolutely delicious and priced very well! (10.95 in early 2019). This place is good however portion sizes do not match prices. We love the chowder, coconut tilapia, crabby Pattie's & homemade fried cheese. The cheese is super fresh. We actually enjoyed their catfish & blackened grouper as well. The fish always tastes fresh. The clams are those big ones.. I don't really care for them. My favorite side is the creole grits. They're really flavorful. I do suggest either making reservations or going later. During snowbird season this place is popular for early birds. We tend to just get our food to go. We recently spent time in the Largo/Seminole Florida area. We arrived on a Friday afternoon and began to look for some place for dinner. On our search screen, we found a seafood Restaurant called "Rooster Fish" which was right around the corner from where we were staying, so we decided to give it a try. We decided to have a cocktail before dinner. They were happy hour priced, tasty and well made. We had the Grouper Oscar. I can honestly say it was the best grouper I've ever had. And there was plenty of crab and Hollandaise. The side creole grits were very tasty, too. We liked it so much that we went back the next night and had the fresh stuffed Haddock from their summer special menu. Same great fish, good sides and great drinks. It turns out, we had eaten there once before. Our family celebrated my Father's 90th birthday there several years back. It's not a fancy place, people show up pretty casual. Before our meals came we each had a cup of the lobster bisque which sadly wasn't our favorite, tasted more like a crab bisque. Ate there twice this weekend. Had the shrimp po'boy -sooo delicious. Then the second time: blackened shrimp burger-it was great. Fries are good, hush puppies are fabulous. I got all our food to go. First time called it in, second time ordered from website. Picked it up, no problems....all condiments and toppings were included in bag. Cocktail sauce is the best I've ever had. I'm not a huge fish eater but I did have a piece out of a fish and shrimp basket my hubs got. I really liked it, and my cat went ape shìt over it!!!! They are always busy, and now I know why. We heard about this one afternoon from our neighbor and not being sure where to go for dinner chose Roosterfish. WOW, am I happy that we did. The fish tastes wonderful! The crispness of the fried items points to a perfect temperature for the fry process and also the items do not have that taste of "old oil" that some other place we have been does. Either I am really late or this is a popular place. Soon enough we founded out the early bird started from 2 to 5 pm daily. We beat the clock with 3 minutes to spare for the early bird. The early bird menu entrees are less than $9 except the steak dish for $14. What a steal. The people who dine there average age are at least 10 year older than me. I am just a young chicken when I was among them. We have ordered the coco loco tilapia and stuffed tilapia. Then we look at their regular menu, we have order the Rockefeller oyster of six for $9. I also spot a before 6 pm margarita for $3. Our total include tax an tip is less than $35. Wow. This food may not excited you but it had a awesome value. Oysters is great when came out from the grilled. Love it. I like the shredder coconut on the tilapia. It come with two side. The stuff tilapia is not bad at all. Although it do not have the wow factor, it is fresh and good. The margarita has full loaded alcohol. Usually if I got the discounted margarita, I fell dilute juice at the last melt drink. We got carry out. I got the corn cob, mashed sweet potatoes and Mango Mahi. Nothing had seasoning. I had to go in our cabinet and doctor up every dish. The main entree, the mango mahi, was supposed to be flavored with Caribbean seasonings and topped with a mango chutney. It lacked full flavor and even though there were chunks of mango, I couldn't taste them. The key lime pie was nice. But we wont return. read more

We have tried the many incarnations of restaurants located at this venue and this one is by far the best. Granted, the 'water view' is of a retention pond but the food quality speaks for itself. We arrived on Wednesday 'Lobster Night' and brother it was packed. They do take reservations so that may be advisable. We didn't have a reservation but the wait wasn't too long. We secured a comfy booth and were almost immediately greeted by our server, Kevin. He was helpful in his suggestions and speedy with the iced tea refills. On this visit, we decided against any appetizers. For entrées, we ordered the Captain's Seafood Basket ($18.49) and the RG's Alfredo Pasta Bowl with Blackened Chicken ($13.99 + $3.99 for the chicken). The Captain's basket was awesome! (see pic) It came with fried scallops, fried fish and fried shrimp. It also came with three of some of the best tasting Hush Puppies I've had in years and I'm a Southern Boy! The RG's Alfredo Bowl was plentiful and very tasty! (see pic). The blackening spices were not too overpowering. As you can see from the picture, you get a lot of chicken! You can also get shrimp, scallops or a combo of them as an add-on to the pasta. Parking can be a little tight because this restaurant can get very busy at night. The staff is friendly. But be warned, this place is a geriatric heaven. So, if you don't like eating with Baby Bombers, this may not be the place for you. But hey, this is Florida and we're all part of the scenery, too! Took my mother and sister here for Mother's Day lunch and they were very happy with their meals. I ordered 5 Argentine shrimp with asparagus and creole grits which was very good. I used to larger Argentine shrimp, but there's still had good flavor. My family ordered peel and eat shrimp (huge), oysters, and catfish. All of which the thoroughly enjoyed and made me very happy. The taste is more towards an older crowd.. the server was great an older guy but no matter how much he up served the food it was very disappointing. The crab cakes are very mushy and tasteless, the sides only thing was good was fries, and the coleslaw that supposedly has pineapple had no flavor of any kind.
