Willard's is one of my favorite bars in all of Tampa that I happily drive out of my way to go to. They are a beer-only bar with 40 different rotating taps, as well as cans and a few wine options. They offer a small selection of snacks, but allow you to bring in outside food if you are looking to eat a more substantial meal. This is a small, lively place with a number of regular clientele. Bartenders are extremely friendly and personable, making an effort to remember your name and your order. They offer a loyalty punch card as well that makes finding new beers super fun. If you are a craft beer lover of anykind, welcome to the mecca of craft beer for Tampa. I drive well out of my way almost weekly to visit Willards. With 40 beers on tap, and many more cans and a few wine options, they continually have a rotating variety of beers from breweries locally and internationally. This trip i enjoyed an Abita Fluffernutter, and XUL PB&J sour, both of which i recommend. Service is great, they will keep a tab without taking a card. When down in the area Ben and I generally will stop into Willard's. This is his old stomping ground and he is on the Wall of Fame so he has his own mug there to be able to use, which he loves. Willards has 40 taps and then additional beers in cans and bottles for you to choose from. If you are having a little trouble deciding, the beertenders also will ask what types of beers you generally like and then point out which beers/numbers would be a good selection for you. If you want to have a little fun and like all kinds of beer, they have a wheel that you can spin to see what number you land on for your selection. Service has also been really friendly while I have been there and you can tell that it is a lot of regulars because so many people will be drinking out of their own mugs which means they had to have at least drank 120 beers there to get the mug. The walls are lined with bottles and cans of different beers and the feel is super casual and laid back, making everyone feel welcomed. read more

I checked out this small little tap house yesterday with honey and some friends since we were visiting a friend in the area. Upon walking in I was pleasantly surprised to find that when they call it a 'tap house' they mean business!!! They have such a HUGE selection... HUGGGGGE!!! While I am very picky with my beer honey felt quite adventurous and I was able to try quite a few of his. I am not a fan of sour beers at all and aside from these everything I sampled was pretty delicious! My beer of choice, recommended by Matt the manager, was the Lindemans Peche! Holy moly was it delicious! It was everything I wanted it to be... refreshing, different, light, fruity, unexpected... all of it! The space is not very big but very accommodating, you can tell they have a strong local crowd! The best part about the whole experience is that the bartenders are actually friendly! This place has every right to have pretentious and snobby bartenders and it doesn't!!!! The one's that I encountered, and there were a few since I was there a few hours, were all very knowledgeable and friendly!!! If you're in the area I highly recommend it, and if you just want to go somewhere with a lot of different and interesting beers check this place out! Another highlight for me was that they had food!!! Granted it was light snacks such as chips and dip, chips and queso, popcorn, and more but its better than nothing. There is also a pizza shop a few doors down and I saw many people bring in food from there that smelled delicious (totally ok). I opted for their fish spread! IT WAS DELICIOUS!!!! I think it was about $8 and you get a sleeve of ritz crackers, a tub of the fish spread and they loan out a jar of a hot sauce. The fish spread and the sauce are both local! I thought it was amazing and everyone else that tried it. If you want a good fish spread do not hesitate to try this. All in all this is a pretty sweet tap room and I recommend checking it out! The bar itself is located in a small plaza and they have a parking lot. WE were there on a Saturday around 4pm and had no problems finding a parking spot. read more

I'm going to give them a 5 star review because the Tap House was very accommodating to us as we were celebrating a life well lived. You see, a friend of ours, Holly, passed away 10/12. This was our way of toasting her, because it's HARD to get former and current Rennies together in any one place. My friend Michelle had them hold tables for us, and they did, she got them to pretty much hold -all- the seats against 2 sides of the building for our party and we ended up filling up those seats. It's a good thing that we did too... since 90% of our party indulged in the tap. Even -I- had a glass to raise in toast. The other patrons might have been annoyed, but some even joined us in raising a glass as we all laughed and shared story about our fallen friend. The ale an cider was cold, the beer was decently priced (Unless you got that Zombie stuff, $12 a bottle? WTF?) and the company was quite comfortable. Such a nice place to go if thirsty for proper beer and a good chat with super friendly bartenders or the people at the bar. Love love love LOVE this cute bar! Came here last week with a friend and I really love the ambiance. It's very relaxed and people are very open and talkative and I felt so comfortable in this awesome and friendly environment. The bartender Mike was really cool and knowledgeable and had no issues with closing the place a bit later for those who wanted to stay around longer. They have a giant spinning wheel for $8 that randomly chooses your flight of beer(they have SUCH a huge selection). Lots of rare beers from other states and labels I've never heard of before. The bathrooms and tables are clean and you can tell the people working here really take pride in this place. There are also tons of board games to choose from and plenty of tables if you want to come with a group. Definitely my go to bar from now on! read more

When you first walk in it feels kinda like a dark atmosphere. The lighting is dim and the majority of seating is barstools but they do have plenty of table seating as well for small groups. Their selection of draft beers is pretty impressive and can be a little intimidating if it's your first time here. Needless to the worry because the staff here are pretty knowledgeable on their draft selections and can lead you to the right choice. If you are all out of sorts and don't have any idea what to do I did see a wheel of beer you could spin to select a beer for you. Haha Pretty clever! If you like to geek out over glass wear they do have a variety of drinkery so you can be sure you are getting the right beer in the right glass. There are also some pictures on the wall profiling the different glasses. All in all if your are into beer this is a place you might want to check out. Friendly and knowledge staff. They go by the slogan, "No crap on tap" and they live up to it. A nice smoke free environment where a person who enjoys tasting many beers on tap that you can't find at most establishments. They keep around 40 different brews on tap from over the country covering most of the different types of brew that you'd come to expect from a tap house (ie. lagers, stouts, IPA, etc.) The staff is very friendly and will happily assist you in selecting a beer based on your taste preferences. As a added bonus they offer a punch card that tracks all the different beers that you can try. Upon completion of the card you are awarded the honor of having your named engraved on a plaque on their wall that comes with a t-shirt honoring your accomplishment. A clever way to get you to try new things, I may add. A word to the wise; monitor the alcohol content of the beers here. They are indicated on the chalk board behind the bar. If you're used to slamming back 6 or 7 brews at your local establishment before you begin to feel a buzz you're in for a surprise. Cool vibe with over 40 different beers on tap! We came here for a friends birthday party and had a great time! I didn't actually know what time they closed so i called ahead and the bartender told me over the phone that they closed about 12ish (score! + it was a weekday!) Call it a WOB for the locals with a cool vibe, an awesome bartender & various craft brews on tap. We weren't sure which beer to get as they had so many selections on tap and our bartender was very gracious to let us have a try of what ever we wanted before we made a decision. They even had a few benches inside which totally reminded me of biergartens I loved so much in NYC! Plus they have a good variety of various board & table games for you to choose from to help entertain your group as your drink the night away! They have a cool wall of fame dedicated to those who have downed many many glasses of beers that i could only imagine my self ever doing one day. Fun times happen at Willard's Tap House. Thanks to Fabian, I bookmarked this Tap House months ago. We finally made it out to Willard's last week and we have a new favorite place. Where to start? How about the 40 different beers on tap? 40 different beers that are in dozens of different styles that they color code for you. How about the column of local beers? How about the fact that they have a FREE membership reward program where you can work your way up to owning a Willard's mug? We love Belgian style beer and it can be hard to find it on tap at most bars. Willard's had a great selection of Belgian's...and Porters...and IPA's...and Fruit Beers...and Ciders...and...you name it. They truly have something for everyone. We had about 7ish beers (including many new-to-us beers and favorites like Chimay), a flight of four and a handcrafted Cream Soda (which was the best cream soda that I have ever tried! It was on tap 41) and we ended up with a bill around $60 with our generous tip. They are definitely affordable. Why did we leave a generous tip? Well, the guys that work here are freaking awesome too. We were watching the Rays game when we first came in. We ended up chatting with some fellow bar patrons (who had their dog in the tap house which is apparently allowed and AWESOME) and the bar staff a lot. So much so that the time slipped away from us and we ended up spending much longer here than intended. We were fine with that. My Husband had also ordered a beer that he ended up hating. The guys were cool enough to replace it with a beer that they recommended for free. Great service. We were there on a Friday night and the crowd was classy. Willard's was busy, but it didn't feel packed or stuffy. Willard's is decorated with hundreds of cool beer bottles and beer signs that extend to the large (and pretty cool) bathrooms. I may have some drunken selfies from that bathroom, but I am not sharing. This is definitely our type of place. We will be returning to Willard's often. read more

I like the laid back, young and fun vibe of most breweries because they feel like coffee houses with hipster vibes whereas most bars seem to be the opposite. Because of Yelp reviews and Willard's proximity to my area I decided to visit this bar... and loved it! BAR WITH THE FEEL OF A BREWERY Half the patrons inside were playing board games (we took a Scrabble game for ourselves) and filling the air with conversation. The décor of wood furnishings was cool too... especially with all the various Beer bottles lining the entire upper half of the entire room! Hundreds of bottles! Every empty space of wall was home to some mini poster or sign from a brewery. FEELING CRAFTY The chalkboard displayed the 40 Beers on tap with 25% dedicated to local brewers (Like Cycle Brewing, Swamp Head and Cigar City). Colors are used to classify Beer types (Stout, Lager, etc). If you can't make up your mind there's the spin wheel. I specifically came to nibble so armed with two flights I was able to taste eight types. I can't complain about anything there because that's just my personal tastes now. Further on the board to the right are announcements of different brewmasters coming to visit or other upcoming events. BEHIND THE BAR One guy seemed to make up the whole staff during my visit but I never had to wait for his attention. I didn't want to order food from the outside and bring it in (although you can) so I ordered the "Chips and Queso" and the bartender pulls out a WHOLE unopened big bag of Nacho Chips and a whole jar of unopened Publix Queso and handed both to me. Somehow this seemed funny but it really did add to the laid back atmosphere... and I got lots of Chips and Queso to take home. read more

A pair of friends and I went here in November while in town for Paul Unwin's beer festival at his restaurant the following day. My friends had been here before, whereas I had not. Prior to our visit, it was described to me as being along the lines of Orlando's Redlight Red Light, and I found that to be mostly accurate. The first thing I noticed while here was the collection of empty bottles on shelves that encircle the bar's interior. I saw some beer bottles had me totally envious of anyone who was fortunate enough to drink from them. I spent roughly 15-20 minutes looking at the vast majority of them and being in awe of what I saw. Sadly, many of the ones I saw are bottles from beer that isn't made anymore, so trying many of these is a fantasy that is supremely unlikely to ever be realized. As far as the beers able to be consumed there ... well, yeah, those are pretty good, too! There is a nice number and selection of draft beers. I had some decent local and semi-widely-distributed stuff while here. I probably should've looked more closely at the bottle selection while here, and definitely will do that next time. Just looking at the bar's site right now and its list of bottled beers has me dying to go back. Maybe next month. The bar was somewhat crowded when we were here, but it wasn't stuffy or anything. We met some nice/peculiar/interesting people, as well as some aspiring brewers, while hanging out here. The employees allowed us to order a pizza to be delivered here since we were pretty hungry and wanted something to go along with our beers. Willard's does remind me a lot of RL RL - it is very similar. If you're in town and are familiar with RL RL, check out Willard's. I will be back at some point. read more

If you're into craft beer and seasonal selections, you definitely want to check this place out! Many of my friends are into craft beer and think this place is the holy land!! Tons of selections to choose from and the staff is knowledgeable and super willing to make suggestions and offer samples. The vibe is super casual and I like that... it's not overly loud which is another great perk. It's nothing to look at from the outside but it has a lot of character inside! I do wish they refresh their wine list (instead of the usual house Chardonnay or house Pinot Grigio), as the options for non beer drinkers is severely lacking! My husband loves to come here but I honestly don't care for the any of the beers. They offer a huge selection and I have tried many. That being said they give free samples so you can try many before buying. They do change their tap lists seasonally so maybe I'll try them again. I did enjoy hanging out here. Found myself here after Rapp Brewery last night since they closed at 12 , and I'm glad I found it. They are open till 2, and have a really great selection of 40 craft beers on tap, they were all color coordinated on the blackboard to help people who really don't know too much about beers determine the difference between stouts, IPAs , pale ales, etc. which is convenient . I don't have a problem in that area, but it was great for my friend. It seems like a popular place amongst the locals, it was literally packed up till closing time. Great place for beer lovers! I stayed in Largo for 6 months and every time I went into a place for a beer I had to run away from the heavy smoke... until I walked into Willard's. Very friendly staff, knowledgeable and they are not shy letting you sample beer. There is a color coded chalkboard with 40 beers that other places would consider "specialty beer" (They usually have 10 local beers available). Patrons are giving a card to be punched when they try a different beer and you get prizes every 40 punches. When you finish your 3rd card you get a personalized mug with your name, a quote of your choice, and discounts for life on your beer. With so much variety, many times people don't know what to have (specially the regulars that have had everything), so they spin the wheel. Everybody watches and celebrates the lucky choice, except for.....BudLight! which is not only consider a punishment but also a curse word in that environment. They let you order food into the place and there's a pizza place in the same shopping center that is very good. You're welcome to bring food from anywhere. One day a couple of regulars brought the leftovers from their wedding and fed quite a group. They have at their location cheese dip, chips and fish spread (Jensen bros. I believe). Very friendly atmosphere, they have TV's but if hockey is on, don't even think about watching anything else. Since I moved to the other side of the world (Riverview), I take advantage of every time I'm on the other side of the bridge and pay them a visit. It's worth it! read more

For sweet taps, this place really is as good as it gets. One of the top selections of specialty brews you will find anywhere in Tampa Bay. I love the color-coded classification method as well, makes it easy to pin down selections based on what you crave. The staff ROCKS and will make you feel incredibly welcome, even if it's your first time. There are a LOT of regulars (this is the kind of place that grabs people's loyalty by the cajones)..but the regulars are all really cool. I am sortof a regular (almost have my first card filled)...I especially love the "Keep the Pint Nights" they do every month or so. Just beware - those events get CRAZY. Jam packed. I miss this place! I was one of the lucky ones who found out about Willard's before their grand opening about two years ago and I thought I would never leave. Not only is the beer selection outstanding with 40 beers on tap and a bottle selection, the atmosphere can't be beat. Come here once and you're a regular. Whether you've been enjoying good beer for years or are just coming on to the scene, you can learn something new talking with the bartenders/owners not to mention your fellow patrons. And they will talk to you! Willard's became my home away from home and is the only thing in Largo I miss since moving. If you're looking for a quiet, mellow beer experience head in earlier in the afternoon. Some weekday evenings and Friday and Saturdays can get busy (but don't worry, this doesn't mean service is slow!). They host great events from holiday parties and concerts to bake-offs and keep the pint nights. If you like beer at all, this place is worth checking out.
