THE ORIGINAL

The food was good and I got the classic chickens and rice. The food tastes homemade but the chicken was a little dry. It comes with soup which was really good. If this place was just a little bit cheaper it would totally be my go to spot. The service was fast and there are many tables avalible for walk ins. There isnt a lot of people sitting and just music playing.

Moldy cauliflower

I've gotten takeout from this location for several years. I usually get the Riceless with chicken and steamed veggies and it's usually good, not great, but a healthy meal. This time I noticed that the broccoli had grit or sand in it. Then I looked closer and saw the cauliflower was spoiled. Disgusting and totally unacceptable. I can't believe they served this to me. I will not be back!

I got lunch at the store. Asked for only thigh. It came with both breast and thigh, and, they didn't clean the skin properly. I will not come back.

Online ordering/Website - 1 star In store Customer Service - 5 star Food - 4 star OVERALL- 3.33 stars Ok.. we ordered online from their corporate website and received a confirmation. Went to the location... about 20 minutes from when we ordered... they said they did not receive the order. So they took a photo of the order and started prep... they said about 20 minutes. After 5 minutes of waiting we got a text message saying the order was ready.... we went back in and they said nope. The staff was awesome they got every thing ready and packed 10 minutes and then they brought it out to the car!! Great customer service. The rice is seasoned with chicken broth so its yummy. The white meat is bit dry but the soy ginger dipping sauce is simple and adds a lot to the chicken.

Finally got to try this place and it did not disappoint. I love my dark meat so I was glad they had an all-thigh option! As soon as I walked in to pick up our order, the aroma of the small kitchen lit up my senses. It was sooo good! It's quite pricey for a chicken rice plate but I think it's the sauce that makes it special. Love all the environmentally friendly packaging too. Def a treat to come here and wouldn't mind treating myself again. Hope they open one closer to FiDi.

Is this even cooked?

Ordered via uber eats. Asked for all breast, no thigh or skin, and sauces. Didn't receive sauces, missing 1 broth, other spilled all over the bag. And to top it off I GOT NO CHICKEN. The few scraps they threw in were sh*t thigh pieces that looked weird. My bfs order the chicken doesn't even look cooked.

Need a quick clean tasty meal? This place is it! You can get a delicious meal for under $15. Known for their chicken over a bed of jasmine rice and a side of chicken broth for $11.95! You can also add a poached egg for $2! It's seriously so tasty especially with their sauce that goes with their chicken. I'd skip on the fried chicken skin though because it's a bit too dry for my liking. I think it needs a dip or something !!

Well u know I like white chicken(hainan chicken) like my mom minus the sauce. I like the soup it comes with. It's a lot of food and it's very filling. Who knew something so simple...chicken..could be such a novelty in the USA. Chinese chicken like my mom...thanks for the props..is this one in Laurel Heights? It was a good dinner but it's getting more expensive.

So with the whole pandemic and Shelter-In-Place, physically leaving my house to go even pick up food seems to have gotten less likely than my lofty dream of running a full-fledged marathon. But despite my current addiction to delivery services like DoorDash, I finally made it out to grab what we were craving most...R&R! It's funny that it took me selling my home on Stanyan Street to have a R&R pop up just blocks from my old place. I guess this probably worked out for the best since this would have likely resulted in some sort of poultry overdose. In any event, I found myself this week in SF and decided to pick up some R&R from the Stanyan location. While driving there, I called in my order for a couple Marinas. I was told it would be ready in 3 minutes. When I pulled up, I scored with a primo parking spot right across the street. I masked up, went in, paid with minimal contact using my tap-to-pay credit card on their checkout terminal and headed out with my takeout order in 2 minutes flat. With not having R&R for ages, it definitely tasted pretty epic. Next up on the pandemic to-do list...time for me to dust off those running shoes.

The Original - breast and thigh meat with jasmine rice

This place is pretty much designed for take out. The area inside is so small. Even without the pandemic going on, I cannot see how this place can have more than two seats at the window available. This place is located on Stanyan Street, away from the hustle and bustle of the busy Geary Street. Could definitely be easy to miss even if you were driving by. Luckily they have a A board outside to help you identify this place in an easier fashion. Having tried another chicken and rice place in the city, my friend and I were not satisfied with it. Seeing as this place was new and close by home, we decided to give it a try. We called in our order and drove to pick it up. Parked on Geary and walked to this place. Paid with card and were on our merry ways home. This meal included a very generous portion of everything! Both of us ordered "The Original", which included breast and thigh meat along with jasmine white rice for $11.95. The meat was cooked well an was moist. Compared to the other place that gave us dry meat, we were very pleased with this place. The rice was flavorful as well. The sauce that they gave us was made of chili, ginger, garlic, and soybean. With chili being the first ingredient listed, I thought it would be spicy. I had my friend try it first - he said you couldn't even taste it. Low and behold, not very spicy at all, and that was perfectly find with me. Oh! Did I mention that this also came with a small bowl of chicken broth?? Overall, service was friendly. We were in and out of here with food in hand in less than 10 minutes. Food was great and full of flavor. We will definitely be back! Come check this place out for all your chicken rice cravings! If you're stuck looking for parking, just go up a few blocks into residential, and there should be no problem.

Two orders of chicken and the sauce (they didn't have white rice at the time)

Glad it opened up closer to home!! I really love their chicken because it's so soft. There's rice, brown rice and salad options. Last time I came, I ordered only chicken since I had left over rice at home. I'll always come back to order more! Down side to this place is there's limited seats. But I think it's in a great location for USF students to grab lunch.

To get the best optimal experience at Khao Tiew, please remember to put your name on the waitlist and to get there on time when your party is close in queue (if you're not there, you're square, no expectations since they have tons of people waiting). I came here on a Monday night with my friend and I put my name down on the waitlist around 5 pm on the yelp app (heads up you have to be one mile away to be applicable to put your name down). Since I have been here before I know the deal and expected the wait. We were seated around 6:40 pm but it was so worth it in our opinions. The shop itself has a good amount of tables with a nice retro Thai feel from its decor. The servers are very nice and friendly but also the food comes out super quick which is what I personally appreciate as well. Here are some highlights from our absolute feast that we demolished (no food was left behind or forgotten). * Nuer nam tok: The medium rare beef was chewy, had the right amount of spice, and paired well with the crunch of the herbs. The saltiness of the meat ate well with the fresh sides of lettuce and cucumbers. * Crispy shrooms with ground pork: The crispy mushrooms were my favorite last time and the version with ground pork was exceptional. The mushrooms had a nice light batter and the sauce coated your mouth with an umami punch. * Drunken noodles: I love the amount of shrimp and calamari they gave! The noodles itself were coated in a semi sweet sauce that had a delicious soy flavor. * Duck curry: WOW the most tender duck dish I ever had, no notes! * Kaya jam with coconut ice cream: Creamy, fluffy, and a great way to end a meal. This dish is so hard to explain in words, you have to get it. Overall, amazing spot, amazing find, would wait 2 hours again for a third time :)

The restaurant definitely leans toward upscale Thai cuisine, and the pricing reflects that as well but that's typical of SF restaurants. My favorite dish of the night was the Khao Pad Mun Nuer with Soy Cured Egg Yolk. I requested the beef to be cooked medium instead of medium rare, and it came out perfectly. The rice was rich and coated in beef fat, while the beef itself tasted incredibly buttery, almost like wagyu. It was easily the standout dish of the meal. The rest of the dishes, unfortunately, felt rather lackluster in comparison. We also tried the Khao Soi and the Tom Yum Seafood Hotpot, but both were surprisingly lacking in flavor, which felt atypical for Thai food. That said, the spice level was accurate. We ordered the soup medium spicy, and it definitely delivered the heat, which I appreciated. Overall, I don't personally think the food is worth the current wait and hype, but if the crowds die down, I'd come back specifically for the beef fried rice dish.

Both are rum-based and had a really nice kick, especially the Soi Ari with the pandan in the aftertaste (which we found super refreshing). Food we ordered were the Nam Tok Beans, the Pad Khee Mao, and the rabbit curry. Both of us love spice so the Nam Tok Beans blew us away! Did not expect that kind of packed flavor at all but it makes a seemingly ordinary bean dish so much more exciting. The noodles were cooked perfectly and made a great in between to the rabbit curry. Which speaking of, oh my god??? SUPER tender and fall off-the-bone. Rabbit can be a hard dish to put on for people who have never tried it, but I really appreciate that it's not as bone-y as other rabbit dishes I've had in the past. It really was like chicken but softer. Wow wow wow. Huge shoutout to our bartender for giving us extra birthday shots on the house. Never had Amaro before tonight but it was delicious. Did not get his name unfortunately but he's fantastic! The reason I give 4 stars despite the great experience was because I noticed less urgency from the host and the servers in terms of getting stuff out. Doesn't help that the place is smaller and more expensive for a Michelin star establishment. Sitting by the bar made a huge difference for us since we had a great experience with our bartender, but I have a feeling that those at regular tables that night might've lost patience with the wait times for certain dishes. TLDR: if you love spicy Thai food, have the money to spend, and aren't in a rush, this place is worth checking out.

The restaurant closes at 9:30pm, and they were kind enough to let us stay until then! I also enjoyed the ambiance - the interior was quite beautiful, and had many floral decorations, which I enjoyed. For food, I got the hot stone pot, which comes with minced pork and prawns. The dish was not only delicious but also was a large portion size. The rice was crispy on the bottom, and it was nice that the server mixed the dish for me on the table. I would definitely come back to try other dishes! One of my friends got the Pad Kee Mow, and she also very much enjoyed her dish, agreeing that it was delicious and that the noodles were perfectly chewy! I got the French 75 as a drink, and it was very good as well! Overall, I would definitely come back, especially to try the brunch, which I've heard many good things about! Truly a 10/10 experience!

Next came the egg rolls, about four rolls cut in half with accompanying Thai sweet chili sauce. I split the pad see ew with tofu. It would have been nice to have had a few more vegetables thrown in, especially the broccoli as I counted just a couple of pieces. I did like the tofu although I felt there could have been more and a bit more tender. They could totally redo the front patio dining area as I think it would draw more customers in. If it had not been for my friend recommending this spot, I would have walked by. Overall the customer service was good and I would come back to try other dishes - I'd say the popcorn chicken was my favorite.

Spiced well and very filling. We didn't expect the pork to be cut so large and mixed into the rice, but it was very tender and easy to still eat. We would've expected the pork to be sliced maybe in half or fourths to make the dish feel like a "pork fried rice" than a fried rice + pork mix, but it still worked well and if you love pork, this will definitely be your fix! 5/5 - Pad Thai - We thought the restaurant nailed this classic noodle dish. Filling portions and did not overcook their noodles. You can taste each component of the dish, which speaks to everything not being under or overcooked.
