One of the few bars to select from in the limited nightlife options of downtown Gulfport. Not a lot of people were here during a Saturday night visit. It looks like this place has potential but so far I don't know who the potential patrons might be or where they are hiding. Downtown Gulfport is trying to build a downtown entertainment district but so far the efforts seem to not be attracting that many folks. Overall it is an Irish Pub so that makes it a great pub to hang out in automatically so it just needs more Irish in it now. read more

Arrrgh. The potential this place has... It's a small bar, - I'd think anything over 30 people would be a crowd. There are dart boards and a pool table in the front, which means don't try to shoot pool or darts on a busy night, because people will be in your way half the night. There's a jukebox in the back, but unless you're paying extra to skip credits, you're going to hear rap and dance music. The drinks are made very well - but you'll definitely be paying for them. The beer is expensive, too. On principle alone, I will not pay $3 for a bud light, or $15 for a pitcher of Woodchuck. There are a couple of bartenders that are friendly, but the past few times I've been, I didn't see them. Actually, the last time I stopped by, there was a cover charge to hear some DJ playing super loud ghettolicious music with which no white man should ever attempt to dance. Oh - so they asked for a cover charge, and I walked away. As much as the drinks cost, c'mon. Principle. There are other bars nearby within walking distance. I believe this place does as well as it does is because it's open later than the surrounding bars. Other than that, I just don't get a very welcome feeling at this place (even on a slow night). I'll bet that if they got domestic on tap, lowered the drink prices, and stopped with the live DJ crap, they could get a lot more people in here on a regular basis. I asked once why they didn't have domestic on tap, and I was told, "Because it's an Irish bar." Ah - that explains all the rap, and why they actually DO sell domestics, just in bottles. read more

Nothing Irish about this place and be prepared to be hit with a thick cloud of cigarette smoke when you walk in the door. Combine that with a bar staff that comments on how they don't actually get paid and are just altogether unfriendly...this is a dive bar with a few locals and otherwise just all around a creepy and crappy place to be/go. read more

So, Downtown Gulfport got an Irish pub a few years ago. First "Irish" pub i went to that plays almost exclusively booty music. The prices aren't very competitive either. I had two maker's and water and two car bombs and it was $30+! Good news though, they're now serving hot pockets! read more

There are not 30 different ways to make an Irish coffee. I was wholly disappointed that at a place called Rooney's irish pub, the bartender suggested that an Irish coffee is whatever I want it to be, and that there is no definitive way to make one. I was craving a true Irish coffee, and was sad to know thus was not the place, despite its claim to be an Irish pub. read more

Honestly, I don't have many kind things to say about this place. Upon walking in, being ID'd, and then assaulted by booty shakin' pop hits from 2000 and up, I asked a friend to grab me a beer whilst I proceeded to a much overdue bathroom visit. Probably would have been better off peeing in the alley; the ladies is a two stall ordeal, both lacking doors and rather unclean. I suppose that would be cute and genial for the gals to herd to the pisser, if the door actually locked. Instead, whilst redressing myself, a gaggle of drunk girls/wookies burst into the presumably locked door and began to scream/gargle "WELL, YOU CAN PEE THERE, SHE'S DONE." After escaping the communal pee contest, I accepted the beer a friend bought me out of simple courtesy, I was later harassed angrily by a bartender who was under the impression that I'd magicked the beer out of thin air and had not actually purchased it there. After his terse bark implying that I was something short of criminal, and simple explanation from me, he went back to haughtily ignoring me and my friend as she patiently waited about 6-7 minutes just to get her debit card back, because I guess that's what sells there: Pretension. I love this place, my friends love this place. We come here all the time. It is a low-key type of place, good music (not booty music like previous reviews), and I love the bartenders Mike and Chris. They may not have liquor yet, but they will soon. I remain a faithful Snake Bite/Black Velvet drinker. You should definitely come and give it a try...bring your friends. read more

Great Irish Pub. The bartenders are great from Wed. to Sunday night. Very friendly and a "Cheers" type atmosphere. The place has a juke box, so if there's a group of Casino employees or Bedazzled Casino clientel, there will be booty music. All you have to do is put money in the juke box and add your music. The booty music get's on my nerves as well. Other than that, a GREAT BAR..The prices are as competitve as all the other bars..It's not a bloody bucket juke joint where they serve nickle beers. read more

Such potential tossed aside. I like the look of the place but was chased away by the unacceptable music. after all the time spent trying to locate an Irish Pub, It took less than ten seconds inside for me to decide this wasn't the place for us. read more
