I actually found out that I had been in this store in 1999 when visiting NYC as a child, so maybe it was O'brien 'nostalgia' that I was experiencing. The store has a great selection of furniture and accessories. The lower level has some very interesting and amazing pieces, especially. The sales personnell were more than helpful, and though I only spent around 140.00 of picture frames and other small things, I was treated as if I were furnishing a 5 million dollar loft. One of the designers, (a woman) whom I forget her name, asked me and my friend where we were from, what we were majoring in, etc. She told us a great amount of detailed information about furniture/pieces we were enthusiastic about, and truly bonded with us on a humane level. There was no pushy or artificial behavior, no 'prejudice' that we were younger 'college kids', and she really let us enjoy the store to its fullest. Overall, this store is a pureveyor of high quality, unique, and beautiful items that would be essential for anyones home. Thomas O'briens style has depth and meaning, and replicates a warm 'at home' american style that is seemingly dissintegrating within designs lately. After Hayko repaired it, I can no longer even find the spot where the damage was done. Also, my wife has a very nice old Afghan rug which she has had since childhood. It had become ragged and torn around the edges. Hayko cleaned it and stabilized the perimeter so that it is once again beautiful. I do not have a long list of textile-repair needs, but when when I do require such service, Hayko will continue to be the first place I will try. And Hayk is a courteous, considerate, honest, terribly competent, and a pleasure to work with.
