For my first time at the Rooftop Tavern I was blown away by the awesomeness. I absolutely love the ambience of this place with the lights and adult tree house feel. I was very Lucky to enjoy a warm fire in the back patio. The prices are very fair and the food was delicious. My Girlfriend and I enjoyed some amazing Chips and Guacamole to start off. Wow! What great service we received here (enter sarcasm)! Sat here for about 15 min and eventually just got up to get our own drink at the bar. Sit down and now waiting to get a waitress to come to us to get our food order...visit 2 tables skips us and hits the fourth without stopping at ours to ask if we needed anything. One of the bartenders / owners is mental! I brought my friends from out of town to Morrison to show them the sites outside of Denver. Big mistake!!!!! I should preface this all by saying we ate at Toni Rigatoni's first and it was fantastic!! It's in the same building as the rooftop tavern. After dinner we went to the rooftop tavern to have some drinks and relax. We went to one of the rooftop seating areas and my friend decided to have a smoke (tobacco). What he didn't realize is smoking is not allowed on one of the two rooftop patios. There are no posted signs and its impossible to know its prohibited, but as soon as a bartender notified us, he stopped since it was an innocent mistake. Then all hell broke loose. After he had ceased smoking, one of the bartenders (he claimed to be a part owner and he's the one who looks like a pirate) began to physically confront my friend. It became so uncomfortable for our group that we decided to all leave. This made this guy so angry that he began yelling at us and followed us out of the bar and to our car, all while screaming at us and making a scene. If was so awkward and weird. While we were trying to get away from this crazy, at one point he threw a beer glass against the wall, which shattered all over people. It was insane!!!! Basically there are a thousand great bars in greater Denver and this is not one of them. Don't waste your time here. Just go to Evergreen or stay in Denver. Skip Morrison. Was looking forward to enjoying a meal and a drink after a long day. After waiting 5 minutes while the servers talked amongst themselves we were told to seat ourselves. We attempted to do so on the outside patio since all tables inside were full. Upon which time the owner or manager began to yell at my husband in front of other guests that we needed to wait for them to prep the patio. We live in Boston right now and not only were we looking at the Rooftop Tavern for our engagement, but my fiance also got accepted into Officer Candidacy School for the United States Marine Corps. So we have a lot to celebrate! Being a 5th generation Colorado Native, and having his family come out from Albany, NY, we were trying to think of a cool/unique establishment with a really great atmosphere. This is when my parents found the Rooftop Tavern. All of the bars nearby were offering their space at no charge (because they knew we would have 50-100 people coming to this party, most of which that would be eating and/or drinking). My mom and dad visited the Rooftop Tavern and we were very excited to bring all of our friends and family to this place. However the Rooftop Tavern's Owner/Co-Owner, who ever he is..Reeza something, said that he would give us the private patio as long as we guaranteed $1,500min worth of business. This was his sketchy solution. All of our guests would get wrist bands and he would keep track of their tabs. At the end of the nights he would ADD all of the tabs up. If we didn't reach the $1500 minimum then the difference would then go on my mothers card. As a business major, I understand that he does not want to lose money. However, how would one track peoples tabs who would be opening and closing tabs, using cash and card??...well it was just sketchy. So my mother tried to call and see if there was anything else he could do. My mom did not want to spend the entire engagement party worrying whether or not people have spent close to $1500. He called her back and this is where I am in complete shock. He was SO rude to my mother on the phone. Saying this conversation was "mute" and is non negotiable etc. etc. My mother was in shock and finally jumped in during his mid-rage saying "Excuse me, did you just talk to your customer like that?" His response is infuriating. "YOU ARE NOT MY CUSTOMER." My mom, in shock, finally said that she would boycott this place and he said "Okay, Thank you. Bye." CLICK. Let me make it very clear to anyone reading this. That is not how you do business. The Rooftop Tavern will never have my family as customers. Along with the 50-100 people from families up and down the foothills (from Cheyenne to Colorado Springs). Mr. Reeza, who ever you are. You made a horrible mistake. You would have probably made well over the $1500 minimum. We cannot wait to celebrate our engagement at one of your near by establishments. We have been to this place many times- always enjoy sitting outside on the rooftop. We stopped by after a bike ride today- & didn't feel that friendly vibe like we once did. Two of the ladies behind the bar were doing shots & they were caught off guard as we approached to ask to order some food. The menu has significantly changed from our earlier visits. They have a very vague menu- so limited that they don't even offer burgers any sort of steak type sandwiches. They used to have street tacos -- not anymore-- with their lousy food selection we decided to not stay there. The vibe is not the same as it once was. Been here 3 times, one time I had good service at the bar upstairs. The other 2 times were awful, now I'm finally writing a bad review. The 2 bartenders on Friday at 4:30pm were awful. First of all the blonde girl ignored us needing a drink for the first 10 minutes she was here, then blasted the music so loud that the people talking at the bar couldn't hear anything. She continued to ignore customers and text on her phone and do everything but help anyone needed something. The other male bartender took 20 minutes to get my tab after I asked him for the bill. Then, he asked if I need anything, grabbed the bill and just took our card without showing us the bill. It's like they're Just ignoring us and walking around acting busy. Flatbread pizza was fine, but salad was laughable - a few pieces of spinach on a paper plate with some olives/tomatoes - not worth the $6-7 I paid. TINY!!!! Prob should have tried the tacos, that seems to be their speciality. Conclusion: Fun place for drinks and some snacks, wouldn't come back specifically for a meal. Here's the good. Great beer selection and the salad was on point. Sadly, this is a "mountain" restaurant that knows regardless, they are getting business, so the service is majorly lacking. I came here about a year ago before a show and we walked out after waiting ten minutes without an acknowledgement. When you open a rooftop, and an awesome one at that, and have the NFL games on, you need to have more that a bartender bartending and waiting tables. Not really her fault if it wasn't staffed. 20 minutes to be acknowledged. 10 minutes for a beer. 25 minutes for a check. The real problem is you had a guy handing out blankets who looked like the owner or manager but clearly saw a bunch of impatient people and never asked if they needed anything. You just wait. They have the right idea, although they could expand the food menu, and they have a fire pit and music and a great view, but sadly, they are making money whether you are happy or not, and it shows. read more

I've been to the Rooftop Tavern 2 more times since my first review and wanted to provide a little update because of the negative reviews this place got on Yelp by what I felt were some pretty demanding sounding people. In the 3 times I've been here this summer, I have had nothing but friendly service, great food and beer and the staff were fun. Maybe they had a rough start, some people were having a bad day, I don't know but I've had nothing but a great experience at this place so far. I need to break away from my rutt of fish taco's though, try something else. Those taco's are SO friggin' good though, that I keep thinking about them when I'm not there. I'll really miss that outdoor seating on the roof when it gets uh....not warm anymore. Sorry, I just couldn't use the "C" word this early. :) read more

The Owner is uncouth and thoughtless. Can't believe he treats customers the way he does. Bought an employee/friend, who I have known for a year now, flowers for her and her family as her dad was dying. The owner blew the situation all out of proportion, wrongly accused me, told me to leave and never come back or he would have me arrested. The thoughtlessness and insensitivity he demonstrated towards me and her in this difficult time was nauseating. Unbelievable! Flowers for god's sake... Even if the owner was to apologize for this ordeal I would never go back. There was a time where we lived downtown Morrison, so about a 4-minute walk to Tony's; It's right by Red Rocks Ampitheater as well so it's a convenient location for locals and/or show-goers. There's indoor seating, but I preferred being out on the rooftop - It has an amazing view as you can imagine. Not many places are open late in Morrison, so you really only had a couple of choices, but Tony's Rooftop was by far the best. It was very different from downstairs where they served Italian food - This was more bar food. I was obsessed with their tacos, and honestly loved everything that I ate there. Trust me, a 4-minute walk to delicious food and awesome servers - We were there several nights a week at least. I really loved that the servers always had been so accommodating towards my Celiac. One time I was ordered a cocktail and they, just out of memory, said they weren't sure I could have that but would talk to the bartender about gluten-free options - Now, THAT is service! read more

My wife and I stopped in here while traveling. The food and beer were both delicious. The street tacos were fantastic and the nachos were massive and delicious.
