The site supervisor Branden was very professional and great at communication. He stayed in touch with me describing how the team was progressing. He also made sure the team members took breaks especially given the extreme heat. I gave them 2 and a half cases of water to make sure they stayed hydrated. Meanwhile, my neighbors were fascinated by the technology. They came out to marvel at the 42 foot ladder with the motor and pulley system that delivered supplies from street level to the rooftop in seconds. It spared workers backbreaking stress and made the project go faster. I really needed a new roof and roof drain. My ceiling was leaking. Your estimator, Josh, was intelligent and explained the roofing process clearly. As for the estimate, the price he provided was very fair and I was so happy with his presentation. He didn't pull scare tactics as some competitors did. Some of them also wanted to charge 30 percent more. The office staff was also great at conveying information. They were nice, efficient and easy to talk to. I called up 9 roofing companies. I'm glad I picked S & G. They protected my shrubs and lawn by putting down tarps to catch the old shingles, underlayment, and debris. The cleanup afterwards was amazing, I did not find a single piece of roof debris anywhere on the ground. They even fixed a loose piece of vinyl siding for me while they were up on their ladders. Their communication of details was on point, and they handled my surprisingly nosy neighbor and HOA president with professionalism and aplomb. I am 100% satisfied with the quality of their workmanship and price. If I had another roof to re-shingle, I would hire them again.

They failed to complete the roof repair as outlined in my contract, and the improper repair resulted in a roof leak just a few months later. Rather than taking responsibility, they blamed my attic insulation, even though the issue was clearly related to their workmanship. They also damaged my shingles and siding while attempting a temporary fix without my permission. Communication was beyond poor, and scheduling repairs to address the roof and siding damage was frustrating. I never received a sincere apology or any real accountability. In the end, I reached the point where I refused to have this company back on my property. That was my decision, and it will cost me more in the long run, but I no longer had confidence in their work or customer service. I would give zero stars if I could.

They charged me over $500 to put a few drops of caulking on top of already existing screws (picture attached.) Sure enough, the roof leaked again, this time I climbed on the roof to see what has been done. That is when I discovered that all they did was to place single drops of Caulking on top of already existing screws. I hired another roofer and had the skylight sealed and the leak stopped, even with the recent heavy rain. This new roofer charged me only $350 for the work. My mistake was that I trusted Star Roofing's words, and did not go up on the roof to check the work myself. Lesson learned! The awful thing is that not only I would never trust this company ever again, but now I can't trust other good workers who actually do what they charge a costumer for. One thing our inspector called out was the quality of the roof. It was excellent. Not only that, but he commended the roofers on the quality of its construction. I tucked this memory away for about twelve years, until the day a tree fell on our house and tore a hole through our perfectly good roof. Thankfully, we were insured. In all the chaos of trying to repair the damage to the car, remove the tree, shore up the hole, and replace the garage door, there was on thing that I was sure about: We would hire Z. Ipek & Sons to replace the roof. After all, they were the contractors who wowed our inspector over a decade ago. When Omer came over to give me the estimate, he remembered putting the roof on our house. Except for the fallen tree, it was holding up very well. He was able to swing by before the insurance adjuster visited, which helped to provide me with some critical information for the adjuster. The only hard part was that we were in a race against time. Z. Ipek had a full work load, and Omer would soon be leaving for a long deserved vacation to attend a family wedding. And to make matters more complicated, our house was on the market at the time, plus we were actively in the process of moving out, with movers, a truck, and everything. Amazingly, Omer and his crew made it happen! I may have panicked a little bit when I saw the crew on the roof earlier than expected on moving day. But they had planned for the window when the moving truck needed to be in the driveway. I cannot say how Z. Ipek compares to other roofers on quality or cost. But the actual cost wasn't a penny higher than the original estimate. And they were able to execute all the work within the budget of the insurance claim. If that's not a five star roofer, I don't know what is.
