But there were other items not on the menu that we really craved, too. From our experience on other ships, we have learned that often if you ask for something special at a specialty restaurant, you will be accommodated upon adequate notice if the kitchen has the needed ingredients. So I asked our concierge if this would be possible, and she asked me to draw up a "wish list" of courses we would desire at another dinner, and she would be pleased to run it by the head chef. So I did, and soon after received word back that the chef had approved every request two days hence. So, on our second dining occasion here while cruising in Turkish waters, along with an interesting Bruschetta Amuse Bouche, I enjoyed a starter of Salumi followed by Zuppa di Pesce with mussels, clams, shrimp, scallops, cod, white fish, salmon, calamari, and vegetables in a Tomato Saffron Broth; next a classic Caesar Salad with Anchovies; and then buttery and creamy Fettuccini Alfredo and tender Veal Marsala with Mushrooms. Meanwhile Diane enjoyed her picks of al dente Gnocchi Alfredo, Veal Parmigiano Alfredo sans Pomodoro or Marinara Sauce, and Roasted Fingerling Potatoes. And we topped off our "fantasy meal" with delicious assorted Gelati. Accommodating us with more delectable choices off the menu than on, how could this not rate as a five-star dining experience? I had the fried mozzarella, my bf had a BBQ chicken sandwich with fries. The prices were great. The music was fantastic and I even made a new friend who was just so nice we hit it off immediately. The place was clean, the food was on point, the bathrooms could use a little help but ultimately it was a good experience. The place is clean and inviting with a lovely dining room that seats at least 70. The AC seemed to be on the fritz on this hot summer day, but some sort of fan kept us from perspiring. We ordered the fish ceviche, the lomo saltado, and the pollo saltado. The fish in the ceviche was big chunks. I prefer my ceviche with nice, thinly sliced pieces that soak up the marinade. After a few bites, I was not interested in the appetizer anymore. Hubby didn't mind the chunks and polished off the rest. His lomo saltado was good. The beef was a tad overcooked but still tender. I forgot to ask that my onions be well done (allergic to raw onions and these were about 20% cooked); and on receiving my plate, I scooped all the onions and some gravy into a side dish and asked (in Spanish) that it be cooked again and well done. The waitress seemed puzzled, took the plate, and a few minutes later brought me back onions that were about 60% cooked (and I could eat them). I hurriedly combined them with my chicken and tomatoes and the sauce for a delectable gravy but was a bit disappointed because the chicken was dry. (I know chicken breast is preferred, but these kind of entrees really need boneless dark meat for that succulent texture.) Our server, Eliverkis (hope I spelled that correctly), barely spoke English but was extremely nice and even offered to take a photo of us. She took one on my phone and before I realized it, one on hers. Hmmm. Lunch for two with two entrees and an appetizer, tax, and tip was about $60.
