Last night we met some friends for happy hour at Moxie's and we sat outside on the patio, which is right on the street. It was a lovely spot; the service was excellent and the happy hour selection was small but adequate. We ordered the guacamole as an appetizer and then the Asian chicken bites along with the potstickers. The chicken was delicately fried and very tasty. The potstickers, too, were in a delicious sauce and we enjoyed it all. Our friends had the fresh salad with broiled salmon on top, and they, too, enjoyed that as well. I would come back here. I'm glad my niece and I tried this restaurant out for brunch. We both heard good things about it from different people and they were right! The portions are pretty big so may take home food depending on what you order. To start we had the crab cake which was good but smaller than I expected. Then we ordered the calamari that comes with shrimp tempura and spicy aioli sauce plus sweet Thai chili. Loved the calamari even took some home. For our main dish I ordered the breakfast tacos and that comes with tajin chips and guacamole. They tacos were delicious and so filling I some home. My niece ordered the breakfast burger that comes with eggs and your choice of side. My niece ordered the truffle fries and they were delicious and perfectly crisp. She also took home half of her meal. We tried the sticky toffee pudding for dessert and it is a must try. That is the perfect way to end the meal. This was a very cute restaurant. Inside and outside. It's on the corner. Maps will take you to the other side of the restaurant but it's on the corner. Absolutely love this place, and since it had been a while since my last visit, I wanted to see if it was still living up to the hype and it truly did. We had a small hiccup with the two ladies at the front receptionist desk, but Art, the restaurant manager took impeccable care of us. He checked in to make sure everything was okay and handled the situation right away. Even our server was very nice. We visited on a Tuesday, and it was quite busy for a weekday. We ordered the loaded nachos with blackened chicken, along with the chicken, quinoa, and a chicken salad and let's just say, you'll never go hungry. I have been to the Moxie's in Brickell many times, but this was my first time in Las Olas. I like how spacious it is, and i love how the outdoor section has a beautiful bar and so many tvs-- perfect to watch a game! Our waitress was nice and attentive. I had the steak sandwich. The meat was tender and the bread was soft. I liked how it had pickled onions, feta, and goat cheese. And the horseradish aioli was the perfect touch. The bartender had to get some assistance from another bartender to make our expresso martini. But what really turned me off was the invasion of flies. This couple next to us was eating and flies were landing on his drink and his galpal was shooing away the flies. The pot stickers were tasty, nothing to write home about. The skirt steak was cooked well. The potatoes were a $3.50 upgrade and dang, they used a lot of salt to make up for that $3.50. To drink, I had the passion fruit ranch water, which was a great choice- thanks to the server's recommendation. We told her so. In fact, it appears that you need to have model looks to get hired here. Everybody looked incredible. The service was great. Even a supervisor, Dominic, stopped by to ask if our food was satisfactory. It was! We started with the calamari. Lightly crispy with grilled peppers, it was a favorite. Came here for a friend's birthday dinner with a group of 16, and the experience was excellent. Even with a large party and multiple servers, the service was on point from start to finish. Tables were kept clean, drinks were refilled or reordered before they were empty, and the staff made sure small plates were cleared and the table was reset before entrées arrived. Everything was really well managed. For the table, we shared the calamari, lettuce wraps, and dumplings. Everything was good. I'm usually not a big fan of chicken or calamari, but I tried both and was pleasantly surprised and would absolutely order them again. I didn't try the dumplings since they're pork. For my entrée, I ordered the tuna stack and the steak bites, and both were outstanding. The tuna tasted very fresh, and the steak bites were tossed in a delicious chipotle sauce and served with a horseradish-style sauce. They don't ask for a temperature, but they came out between medium and medium rare, which was perfect for me. I also had two New York Bourbon Sours, and they were hands down some of the best I've had in Fort Lauderdale. This was my first time at a Moxie's location in Florida. Our server dropped a used, dirty knife into my hair with someone else's food on it. After a quick "sorry", she cleaned my hair because there was food in it, but there was no real apology or acknowledgment of how gross that was. I know it wasn't intentional, but still.
