A5 Japanese Wagyu
Jesse H.

Came here with my wife for our anniversary dinner and walked out satisfied and full. From the beginning our server was incredibly attentive, explained every single one of our options including the 3,5, and 7 course food tasting options. We went with the 7 course option and we're definitely impressed. Every single thing we ate was delicious. From the beginning courses all the way to the A5 Japanese Wagyu to the Lamb Belly. Safe to say this place has the Ambiance, the service, and the food.

The restaurant was very nice, food was incredible, and staff were attentive. Price point is on the higher end but worth it. Highly recommend going here.

This is a beautiful waterfront restaurant at the Four Seasons, and I'd been looking forward to trying Ft. Lauderdale's newest Michelin-starred spot. We sat outside and did the seasonal tasting menu. Overall, it was good, but I was disappointed it wasn't truly amazing -- which is what most people expect from Michelin-star dining. The plating, technical execution, and quality were excellent, but somewhere along the way, flavor often took a back seat. One dish also came with what seemed like julienned wax or parchment paper mixed in, which I had to spit out -- definitely unexpected at this level. 5/5 Koshihikari Rice with Maitake -- Served under a creamy Comté foam that slowly melted away to reveal perfect rice underneath. A comforting umami bomb with nutty notes. Easily one of our favorites. 5/5 Wagyu Croustade -- Wagyu tartare in a crisp pastry shell with smoked onion gelée and crispy leeks. Rich, bright, smoky, and texturally perfect. 5/5 Foie Gras "Nutter Butter" -- I'm allergic to peanuts so I couldn't try it, but my husband said it was outstanding. 5/5 Apple & Burrata Salad -- Refreshing, playful, and beautifully balanced while still letting the burrata shine. The flaxseed tuile added great texture. 4/5 Prawn Toast -- Very good, especially with the quail egg, but the gochujang barely registered and the toast itself was extremely oily. 4/5 Japanese A5 Wagyu Bavette -- Perfectly cooked and paired nicely with the sweet potato, but the goji-berry mole was too sweet and overpowering. We would've preferred something more savory with a little heat. 4/5 Wellfleet Oyster -- Beautifully chilled, but the coconut foam overwhelmed the delicate oyster and muted the smoked garlic. 4/5 Brioche Pull Aparts -- Warm, buttery, and pillowy soft. Good, just not particularly memorable. 3.5/5 Brioche Stuffed Amish Chicken -- Impressive technically and incredibly moist, but lacking flavor overall. Even the foie gras sauce fell flat, which felt almost impossible. 2/5 Roasted Corn -- My substitute for the Foie Gras "Nutter Butter" because of my peanut allergy, and honestly not remotely equivalent. Just roasted corn in a dry rice paper cup. 4/5 The Banana -- Hazelnut cake layered with perfectly pea sized piped praline cream and topped with a thin sheet of white chocolate. Great hazelnut flavor and crunch, though the chocolate lacked the snap I expected from being properly tempered (or maybe sat out too long). The dark chocolate ice cream had nice coffee notes but wasn't very creamy. 3.5/5 Strawberry Cheesecake -- Light with an interesting strawberry yuzu compote, but too sweet and not memorable. It may have suffered from sitting out too long. 3.5/5 Madeleines -- Served with a banana foster-style accompaniment. Slightly dry, missing that classic crisp exterior and buttery interior. We didn't order the last two desserts and were told they were compliments from our waiter -- possibly because of the mystery substance I found in one dish. No one really followed up on it, but we appreciated the gesture.

Great service. We did the 5 course experience and the food was a bit underwhelming. Our favorites were the rice and strawberry dessert. The chicken main was a bit too chewy for my liking. The table shared a rib eye and unfortunately it was all fat. Would def go back and try their other menu items as the service was excellent.

We had an excellent evening dining at Maass! The restaurant is set up very nicely and located right on ft lauderdale beach within the Four Seasons. Upscale and clean as well as having a relaxed atmosphere. Everyone we interacted with was very welcoming. This is a great spot for a date night or to celebrate something! We each had a pre-dinner cocktail on one of the couches outside before being seated, which were both delicious- Highly recommend the Toronto! As well as the Taormina if you are looking for something a little on the sweeter side. Once we were seated inside, we ordered the tasting menu which allowed us to sample a little bit of everything. All of the dishes were very unique and different from each other. We were served the wellfleet oyster, shrimp cocktail, duck confit, foie gras nutter butter, apple and burrata salad, a pasta dish with truffle, brioche stuffed Amish chicken, and the "banana" for desert with some other small pastries as well as jelly candies. The favorite was the foie gras nutter butter, which was absolutely decadent- I highly recommend giving this a try. We will definitely be returning in the future once they update their seasonal menu with new dishes!

Tried MAASS Restaurant recently and overall it was a really nice experience. The space is beautiful and definitely feels like a special night out kind of place. The dishes were well executed, nicely presented, and you can tell a lot of thought goes into the flavors. Service was also great -- the staff were attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. That said, it is definitely on the expensive side. For me personally it's more of a one-and-done experience or something I'd save for a special occasion rather than somewhere I'd rush back to regularly. The food was good, but not something I'm dying to come back for. Still glad we tried it and it was a unique dining experience.

The food was so delicious. We had the 7 course menu. Each item was such a special experience. The waiters and servers are great and so knowledgeable about each dish. Definitely worth the experience. Don't miss it!!

This review is for the Chef's Counter at Maass. Counter seating for approximately 16-18 people with two fixed menu options. We chose the lessor Excursion Menu with upgrade for Black Truffle shavings and an extra Wagyu Beef dish. Two work stations are directly visible while seating at the counter with two chefs at the hearth / grill in the rear and one chef at the sauté / sous vide / boil in the front section. A dessert section with shave ice machine is in the far left back and cold table in the far right back. Executive and Assistant Chef perform QC and Plating for the visible two hot sections in front. The big advantage to sitting at the Chef's Counter is in watching the cooking and the interaction with the professional and casual servers presenters. Plates were always presented in coordination to your party, usually couples, and explained in full with servers also able to answer questions. Silverware, chopsticks, plates, constantly changed in and out and napkins folded if you leave the counter. Crumbs also removed...I was the only lefty that night and the staff noticed after the first course with all utensils subsequently set up for a lefty. Observant! As for the food, all of the items were very well prepared and tasty with out favorites being: - Scallop - Oysters - Wagyu Beef - Duck - Chawanmushi Or just about everything. LOL. Over two hour experience with coordinated seating starting at 6:30pm. A Michelin One Star worthy experience ...

Brunch was superb. Haley was an amazing bartender and server. Ambiance was quiet luxury.

I think the Michelin star speaks for itself, the food is absolutely outstanding and creative. Lots of unique bites in the tasting menu that really keep you engaged in the whole experience. I would highly recommend a chef's counter tasting experience as you get a real sample of the quality and professionalism, with a few fun, twists, like picking your own design on the knife or your chopstick placeholder. If I had to find a knock on this whole experience is that when they serve the food at the counter six or seven servers show up at the same time to everyone sitting there and our competing to talk over each other, and so the experience becomes loud and a little confusing. If there was a way to tone that down a little bit, it would really add.

Did the kitchen counter for my husband 40th It did not disappoint Service was amazing Food was delicious Thou a couple of the dishes were just ok Would recommend

Bone in my "Duck Confit" dish in the Seasonal Tasting Menu
Sabrina P.

I had an overall shockingly negative experience at Maass, having the Seasonal Tasting Menu. In just the first bites alone - I bit into a bone in my duck confit potato pancake dish. Shocked by this, from a Michelin awarded restaurant. And still, my front teeth still hurt. I was not expecting this. Pictured here, the not so small bone in my one-bit duck confit potato pancake dish. I mentioned this to the wait staff right away but was surprised that more of the meal was comped given this happening right at the beginning of the dining experience and after waiting a long period of time. I did not hear any apology from our wait staff but just got extra desserts at the end of our long meal that we did not request. To add to this negative experience, we had an 8PM reservation, arrived on time, and were seated by 8:25PM, and between every single one of our dishes there was an extremely long wait. To the point where we had to continuously check in up until we flagged down for the check. We were not warned upon seating, that it would be a 3-hour dining experience for the Seasonal Tasting Menu (not chef counter). I am disappointed and surprised by this behavior on a 1-Star Michelin restaurant. This is unacceptable and particularly the bone found in my "one bite" duck confit potato appetizer.

Beef tartare
Sherry J.

- Was excited to visit maass for it's michelin star but sometimes that works against the restaurant as your expectations go wayyy up - The beef tartare was not bad. Not bad, but not interesting enough to order it again - The japanese souffle pancake and eggs benedict are sizeable portions - Flavor-wise, meh The only thing I enjoyed about the eggs benedict was the thick bacon - I loved that they have outside seating facing the beach, the interior also looks very pretty - Service was really good as well - Unfortunately the food just didn't meet expectations - Plenty of street parking available nearby

Parking was conveniently located right in front of the restaurant, making it an easy stop. As soon as we walked in, we were warmly greeted and invited to sit wherever we liked. We chose a table near the window and immediately appreciated the intimate and charming atmosphere. The restaurant also features a bar and televisions, creating a relaxed and welcoming vibe. Our waitress was pleasant, attentive, and made us feel right at home, which always enhances the dining experience. Although we weren't extremely hungry, the menu had so many appealing options that we decided to sample a few items. We started with the Caribbean Tea shots, which were unique, refreshing, and surprisingly enjoyable. For drinks, we ordered a Malbec and a Peanut Butter Old Fashioned. Our first entrée was the Churrasco Frites, featuring marinated skirt steak topped with chimichurri and served with twister fries. The steak was cooked perfectly, tender and flavorful, but those fries were the true star of the dish. Still wanting more, we ordered the Garlic Parmesan Twice Cooked Wings. They were nicely prepared and satisfying, though I would have enjoyed a stronger garlic flavor. Not quite finished, we moved on to the Oaxaca Burger, an 8 ounce burger stacked with onion rings, bacon jam, house BBQ sauce, and Oaxaca cheese. This was one of the best burgers I've ever had, and possibly the best. The bun was toasted yet soft, the burger was seasoned perfectly, and it was cooked to a juicy medium temperature. Every bite was packed with flavor. Overall, everything we ordered was excellent, and the service and atmosphere made the experience even better. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and look forward to returning.

I have had several things from the menu, including a hamburger, house salad, wild salmon, chicken Melanesia, empanadas and even a hot dog! Everything is fresh and high quality. The salmon is huge and very fresh. It has a mild blackening/seasoning that forms a nice crust. The chicken reminds me of my mom/grandma/great grandma's chicken cutlets! Very Italian/Sicilian vibe. (Get them with mash potatoes). The patio is always comfortable with a great breeze and a view of the ocean a block away. What really stands out here though is the friendly service. Andres has been there almost every night and has always been great. He is very prompt with bringing drinks and food. You can see them hustling down to the kitchen and keeping things running smoothly. But what I like the most is the friendliness. He is always willing to chat about soccer, music, wine, or anything else (but also knows when to leave you alone so you can eat). Also, the value is pretty good. The wine is $10 or less. They have my favorite Malbec. And even the ribeye, at the beach, for $27 is not bad at all. Some of the appetizers are a bit pricey ($13 french fries) but I think all in all its one of the better values in the area. Note they do not serve liquor, only beer and wine. Also, there are no tables inside. Just a small bar inside and then several tables outside. This is a fairly quiet and unpretentious restaurant. If you want a trendy noisy evening this is not the place. It has never been packed, but there is usually a person or two at the bar. They play music but it does not dominate the atmosphere. Usually something chill like reggae. If you want friendly service, good food, and a relaxing environment, then this is a great choice. Dog friendly patio. This is the type of place you can sit with a book and drink wine, or catch the soccer game and have a beer or three. Definitely worth a visit especially if you are staying at the hotel!

The patio area is much bigger than I anticipated and even has some larger tables for any larger parties. We started off with an appetizer of the peach burrata, which was tasty! I would give it 4/5. We then got wine flights which I thought were such a great value for the price. You get 3 small sized wine glasses for $15 and get to sample three wines! Definitely recommend this 5/5. As entrees, we shared two entrees - the pesto pasta and the gnocchi which at the time was made with a pork type of sauce. Both were very delicious and we really enjoyed the flavors of both. The consistency of the gnocchi's sauce was a bit interesting, as it was all sort of blended together, but the flavor was very good! Would give them each 4/5. We ended the night with tiramisu - delicious and the presentation was very cute. I haven't had very much tiramisu to compare against, but I'll give it 5/5 as I really enjoyed it! As for service, our waitress was very attentive and nice but note that they can get busy on weekend evenings, so expect a little bit of a wait. Overall, I had a great time and enjoyed the food. Sidecar Speakeasy was the play... The speakeasy entrance was hidden in a hallway you can walk right by without even noticing. I dig it. Once inside, it's dark. We visited here twice during my visit: We sat at a table and a bar. You have the perfect amount of space for your party, but you're pretty close to the next table or bar seat. No claustrophobic vibes though. All the mixologists were great during both visits. One visit, we ordered their signature cocktails from the menu. When we sat at the bar, we had the mixologist surprise with a cocktail off the menu. He just asked what kind of liquor vibe we wanted, and he took it from there. He was super creative with every cocktail which made for a great time. They stayed upon until midnight one one visit and until 1 am on the other one. Both my visits were on a weekday.
