One of my favorite bars in Portland! The atmosphere is very chill. The drinks are great! I've never had full on dinner here before, but I come for drinks and apps regularly. The bruja is my favorite drink by far! read more

Never being here before, I went here Thursday last week to meet up with a friend around 2300 after we both got off of work. I got there a little early, so I went to sit at the bar to wait for him. I sat there for about 15 minutes, being walked past thrice by this very pissy bartender. Once my friend showed up, we waited an additional 10 minutes to be acknowledged -- and not for our drink order. I blew my nose in a napkin, and in the half a second before putting my mask back on, Kenzie, snaps at me to do so. Alright. Meanwhile, a thankfully friendly hostess comes up, (I believe her name was Jasmine), and told us they don't do bar seating; we went to sit at a table while she took our food and drink order instead. She was very personable, so we decided to stay. I ordered a cocktail, that unbeknownst to me was frozen, I had asked for a more "liquid state" one the second time around and got the same result. Long story short, the hostess with the shorter hair saved the night. The 20% tip I left was more for her than the bartender. Rest assured, we won't be returning. Kenzie: Fix your attitude. Your job is customer service and you were very off-putting, and rude. We have done nothing to you upon our arrival and you managed to "serve us" while giving us nothing but dirty looks and avoided any interaction. I'll assume you had a bad day, or were stressed, but don't take it out on me. I was there to blow off steam from my job, too. read more

Service is great, ambiance is great - make your bathrooms fucking gender neutral dude!

Staff is always great and environment is fun and comfortable. I find I have a great time if I'm in more of a chill mode or have more energy. Either way, this place will get me my fix for a fun night out. Recently, a friend and I got their soups - SO good! Highly recommend!! read more

Pretentious millennial bar. We had not been here before and felt completely unwelcome. The server essentially told us to go outside to order or get out of the way. Sorry we didn't know where to stand properly in your bad vibes environment. So sorry we didn't realize you are so against mid 20 somethings at your bar, we didn't even order anything and left! Horrible vibes all around I got yelp to specifically write this review because we felt so insanely unwelcome. read more

Chill indoor lounge and cute outdoor patio. Rontoms is always a nice place to visit for ambiance and drinks. I got the whiskey sour, which was pretty solid. It can get pretty loud here, but not so loud that you can't hold a conversation with friends. read more

SLAPS. As always. The ambiance, the music, the deviled eggs (with bacon) were A+. Once you go cucumber, you never go back.

Rontoms is an institution. It can be busy, and they have a specific vibe, but it's a cool spot, and Sunday Sessions are dope. Last time we were in, Will took great care of us. read more

Make sure you ask for Will. He was absolutely informed about the drink and food menus, made outstanding recommendations, was attentive, and we were certain he must have been one of the owners. He isn't........(yet), but he certainly presents as one. Food was very good as were the specialty drinks, awesome outside area, and we'll go back every time we're in Portland and my wife Tina and I (Paul) will tell everyone about our absolutely fantastic time. read more

Love the ambience, the cocktails were really good, and the food was really really tasty! It was pretty busy as it was Saturday night, but you could easily talk to other people and it didn't feel overly crowded! read more

Was recommended this place from another place up the road, and I'm so glad we came. It was a cozy vibe for my wife and I, and we were able to chat together but also socialize with some locals which was really fun. We didn't eat, but the drinks were delicious and the bartenders we quick and kind. Thanks for a great night! read more

One of the coolest summer spots for couples, large groups of people, or going solo! I love Rontoms in every season, but especially when it's sunny outside. The outdoor patio area is HUGE, and has two different sections; one covered by the roof, and the other in a huge space outside with picnic tables and umbrellas. At night, they light candles to put on the table, to set the mood. It can get pretty packed around the bar area during the busy times, but there's almost always a place to stand around, or spot to sit at. I've tried the food here a couple times, and it's okay, nothing special but nothing terrible. I love the grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup combo for $5. As for drinks, I always order the Amaretto Sour, and everyt ime, it's made with the perfect amount of sweetness and alcohol. The people at the bar are pretty cool and composed while busting out drinks fast. I don't typically see people dancing, but the music is always good, and people always seem to be having a fun time. If you're looking for a cool summer patio spot to hangout at, this is one of my favorites. read more

I have never been to RonToms before, but I just went (or tried to go this weekend, June 2nd, 2023). I have never written a Yelp review before, but I had to after this experience. I was excited to go to this place as I heard the customers were fun and the place was vibey and lively. My friend and I showed the bouncer our ID's. My friend showed him her ID. It is an Oregon ID. She got in just fine, until it was my turn. I grew up in Portland, Oregon my whole life and just recently moved to Hawaii two years ago for college, so I have a Hawaii ID. I also just turned 21 in February this year. I showed the bouncer (long hair, I think a beard, wearing some kind of cargo pants and boots, some kind of accent if I recall) my ID. He had nothing to scan it with, he only looked at his eyes with it. He said "it just looks off". I laughed and asked if he had something to scan it with, or if he has ever even seen a Hawaii ID before. He had no real reason to not let me in except that his gut told him to just turn me down. If you're a bouncer, you need to know the difference between a fake ID and a real ID. Do some research. This story gets worse. My friend was waiting for me to get in, but she realized I was getting turned down for a delusional reason. She tried to step back inside to get the manager, but the bouncer with long hair shoved her, not once but three seperate times. He said "I don't care if you're a girl, I will shove you" Why? Because she is my friend? Is he scared he will be wrong? Because I am 100% sure I would have been let in if I showed the manager my ID. He assaulted my friend three times for no apparent reason. She never touched him or did anything to make him SHOVE her. She was just trying to get a manager to solve the problem, after she was already a customer who was approved to be let in! I called RonToms about 15 times, hoping one time they would answer. No answer at all. This was early too, about 8:00pm or so. I saw another man talking to this bouncer saying he is not doing his job right. I am not sure what his reasoning was, but he was incredibly angry with this man. My sister also once got turned down by this same bouncer a while back that just by looking at her said something along the lines of her being too "obliterated" to come in. She had one drink before and was not even tipsy. In conclusion, this bouncer has terrible judgment, is cocky, rude and dangerous. Be forewarned about this and behavior before you wait in line to enter this establishment. You lost three customers (my friend, sister and I) until I know this man will no longer be here. I also will be telling this to my whole circle of friends. I hope the management of this bar understands they have a potential liability on their hands by employing such an aggressive individual. read more

Glad to come back - big indoor area as well as outdoor. Nice wine choices. Do you love deviled eggs as much as I do you've got to try here- the idea of using this marinated mustard seeds on top is a genius - adds texture but subtle flavor unlike salmon eggs or capers. This was our first meal in Portland! Definitely go eat in the back patio! The burger was amazing! It was the perfect size and not too heavy. The cantaloupe soup was definitely an interesting try. This place is a great find! The patio is super cool, not just the crazy design you'll see in photos, but also the cool chill vibe you get on days like the drizzly Sunday evening I went. Great! Dog friendly too. Salad/rice/chimichurri steak was my favorite. Still haven't made yo the patio but I will!

We came here party of 6 to have bites and drinks with my husband colleagues. Service was really mediocre. Always had to ask for water, napkins and she forgot my order and charged the wrong card. We ordered a lot of things to share like beef and chicken screwers, I ordered fondue sandwich with chips and some things that I didn't tried. I loved vodka with prosecco champaign cocktail. Worst service! We didn't receive food for 40 min... and when we did it was not what we ordered (also we were THE ONLY PEOPLE in the restaurant) When I sent it back and explained that it wasn't what we ordered the bar tender was incredibly rude and told me he didn't care! Are you looking to go out for a drink and/or meal while adhering by COVID guidelines, being outside and still cozy? This is your spot. The indoor space is big and open with accurately spaced tables BUT the outdoor space is where it's at. They have a full covered patio with about 6 tables big enough to have at least 5 people. They have heaters near each tables as well as a fireplace. It's cozy yet still tons of airflow. They also have tons of other tables on their typically not covered area but now most of the tables are covered! Most tables have personal fireplaces on the table which is so cute and large canopy umbrellas for when Portland does it's thing, rain. The service was fairly good. Our server wasn't the warmest but it was also busy so he was running around quite a bit. I didn't order one but they also have some fun warm gal cocktails! I'll definitely be back and add this to my "winter patio spots" list. read more

Usually my favorite place- but after getting physically assaulted I'll never be back.

We got here around 3:30 cause we weren't messing around. I had a spicy cocktail - YUM. The Void - YUM YUM (super sweet). And the truffle Brie fondue? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I wanted to swim around inside of it like Scrooge McDuck in his money. They even brought out more bread and didn't charge like total angels. The deviled eggs were delish too. read more

Super great food, yummy drinks and solid atmosphere. I came here on a Friday night and the employees were working super hard, I could tell that they may have been understaffed or just super busy. They were pretty short with customers but provided quick service and everything went smoothly! Loved the pork tacos and Moscow mule that we got during happy hour! Would definitely recommend. They're pretty busy on weekends so try and get there early or plan on waiting. read more

They have the best happy hour!! My friends and I love to come here, especially on a nice day because have outdoor seating. Once you enter Rontoms, there's a hallway (on the left side of the bar) that leads you there. They have one ping pong table and another bar outside as well. Their happy hour is 3:00 PM - 6:30 PM every day with $1.00 off well drinks and $4.50 for the following items: Portobello Sandwich, French Dip, Chicken Skewers, Hummus, Braised Pork Tacos, Swedish Meatballs, Cassoulet, and Tomato Soup and Grilled Cheese. We got their Portobello Sandwich (3/5), Chicken Skewers (5/5), Braised Pork Tacos (5/5), and their Tomato Soup and Grilled Cheese (5/5). Portobello Sandwich - I wasn't a fan because there was too much bread from the burger bun and I personally didn't like the mushroom by itself without meat (but this would be a great dish for vegetarians!) Chicken Skewers - Absolutely love that the chicken was not dried out. Meat was very flavorful and tender! Braised Pork Tacos - My friend said it was pretty spicy for him but I thought it was jam packed with flavor and loved how the braised pork melts in your mouth. Tomato Soup and Grilled Cheese - OMG if you're a fan of tomato soup and grilled cheese, you have to try Rontoms' dish!! If you love cheese as much as I do, then you'll appreciate that they add more cheese in their tomato soup. The tomato soup is so creamy and goes perfectly with the grilled cheese sandwich. read more

I waited over two hours for a salad. when I asked the server about it she informed me that she had dropped the salad off somewhere outside the patio there were at least six or seven tables with several people on them. So naturally, I asked her why didn't she give me the salad- the one who ordered it? So she snapped and brushed me off and said talk to her manager. I ordered another one and waited another thirty minutes to forty five minutes and no food came out. I just eventually left to go get something to eat - they were extremely rude to me I really would tell anybody to go anywhere else there are a lot of nice covered patios with good service and polite attentive servers. I was also charged twice. Just sucks. I really wanted to like this place and enjoy food with my co-workers. Try Fire on the Mountain or Matadors - they're amazing!! read more

Rontoms is a fun and chill place to get some drinks with friends. There are plenty of tables both inside and outside (with heaters during the winter) to relax, chat, or start out your night. I like Rontoms because the drinks are cheap, the space is big, it is centrally located near several other bars, and there are both indoor/outdoor spaces. Rontoms is where I always tell my friends to meet to start out the night, we get a few drinks, and move onto a more rowdy bar/club from there. read more
