It was a super hot day literally. I can't believe it was so warm. This spot has a really cool interior space. But if you head for the bathroom you can head out the back and there's a maybe outdoor space. They have some inventive fusion dishes. The watermelon is a nice touch. And the rolls were good. Overall a decent meal in a really fun spot

I feel that this place is a classic place for me as its been around for some time now. The inside is spacious and you never feel crowded here (unless it's like a Fri/Sat night). We did a group happy gory here after work and our server was attentive and made sure we were not thirsty or hungry. They do have s small happy hour menu option and also discounted drinksduring happy hour.

Another awesome bar in Portland, this place is huge, and does indoor/outdoor seating. I loved the ambiance indoors, very dark and moody! We ended up sitting outside, since there was more space for our large group. There was a really warm fire place with tables to sit at, and both areas had bars! Everyone really enjoyed the drinks they got here. I also ordered food and it was all very delicious. The Spring Wonton Nachos were incredible and the Pear&Gorgonzola Salad also hit the spot! It was pretty busy after 9pm on Friday night compared to when we arrived at 8pm. Tracking down a server to get our food order in was a bit difficult but it all worked out. I would definitely come back here again and recommend this places to others!

Cute vibe, definitely a more chill bar, good for conversations. Pretty easy to get drinks and they come out fast. I love that they have a fireplace and good music playing.

Phenomenal location, fantastic bar program, cool space and food was incredible. Staff was super friendly and was so grateful we came in. Will definitely be back.

Extremely mid food. This is a hot spot for drink and their night ambiance because the lighting is gorgeous, music can be a bit on the louder side depending on the night so sometimes it can be difficult to hear the folks you came with. But the food is something that was very disappointing to say the least. There was nothing spectacular about the service either, the food was quick to come out along with our drinks.

its very dim in here and we had to use the fake candles to see the menu, the seating is very cute and its a nice spot to just chill and drink! the drinks were actually pretty strong and the food was not bad

Great place to stop on Burnside for a fun happy hour. It's good for groups. Has a cute patio too! We had the shrimp ceviche and it was fresh, decent portion. The chips were fresh - a little thick for my liking. Drinks: - Origami Plane - Rontoms sour (comes with the good cherry) I enjoyed this place. It was our, servers were busy We closed out and were asked for tip before the food or drinks came so there's that. Otherwise no complaints.

Rontoms has always been a great place to go out for drinks. They cater a great menu for bites alongside their bar service. It is very spacious and cozy in a sense. They have indoor and outdoor seating which caters to both types of people. Aside from my car getting broken into, the experience was good. The vibe is definitely more laid back outside and it's just a great place for a hangout with friends. It's dark and lowkey - one of my favorites!

We normally find directly to the bartenders to be the fastest and friendliest. But our latest visit we had exceptional table service. That had us ordering all night long. Vibe ~ just cool. Not the newest furnishings, not the cleanest bathrooms but it does relax like a livingroom. Feels comfortable when it is buzzing with folks and relaxing when you're the only one chilling. Live music, tasty menu, strong drinks...and the occasional pingpong is fun.

Recommendation from a local and we were very happy with the experience. Stopped in at lunchtime while apartment hunting. Love the inside vibe. The tomato soup/grilled cheese sandwich was delicious. My husband got a beer on tap and I enjoyed a cider. Lots of choices. Service was quick for lunchtime. The guy taking our order and serve was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely go again and recommend.

Ive came to Rontoms about 5 times , and honestly, it's one of the spots I stand by since moving to Portland a few months ago. It's perfect for a date night or just hanging with friends. The vibe is everything low lights, lounge-style seating, and that cozy but luxe feel that just hits right. If you want to turn it up a bit, the outdoor patio is definitely a plus it's more lively and social without losing the chill energy. Even on busy nights, the service is always solid in my opinion, and the drinks don't break the bank. I paid $18 for two shots of Espolòn tequila, which is wild in a good way. The grilled cheese and tomato soup combo? A must. Total staple. Haven't explored much else on the menu yet, but I've heard great things across the board. Definitely one of those go-to Portland gems that never miss.

i came here on a tuesday and it was pretty empty. i love how spacious and wide this place is. they played calm house music which i enjoyed. my friends and i shared the grilled cheese and wonton nachos. the way they grilled the sandwich was so satisfying and perfectly done. the nachos went super well with the pulled pork on top but they could've used more toppings in my opinion. i would come back for the atmosphere, but i probably won't order food here again since it's on the pricier end

We came on a Tuesday night, so it was super quiet, lots of seating at the bar and really chill. Loved that the drink menu was divided into flavor profiles depending on your own preferences, you can choose drinks from a selection of bright & crisp, arid & aromatic, supple & herbal, rich & robust, spicy & bold, or deep & dark. I ordered the Mace from the seasonal menu with Aperol, Linie aquavit, beet juice, orange acid, young Thai coconut cordial, and mace mist. It was good. My husband ordered the Liquid Swords from the spicy & bold selection. It was so so good I made him switch with me. I could drink this forever. It had TDL vodka blend, novo fogo silver cachaca, mango, red pepper, lemon and ginger. So refreshing! I would come here again and again!

The cocktail menu is fantastic, and if you're curious about absinthe, this is one of the best places to try it. I especially loved that many of the absinthes are named after famous poets and artists - it adds a fun touch to the experience. For dinner, I ordered the spaetzle, and it was delicious. Disappointing Experience at the Driftwood Room - October 5 I…read morehesitated before leaving this review because I have fond memories of the Driftwood Room and Hotel deLuxe. I lived just a block away during my years in Portland and recently returned to the city, hoping to revisit a place that was once part of my life. I'll actually be returning to Portland next week, so I wanted to stop in, support the hotel, and recapture a little of that nostalgia. Unfortunately, my experience on October 5 was disappointing. The Driftwood Room was extremely busy, with what appeared to be nearly 30 guests inside, yet there was only one bartender working behind the bar. There also appeared to be a soccer match letting out nearby, bringing even more people into the area and adding to the crowd. One bartender was left trying to manage an overwhelming volume of guests while drinks and food orders continued to come through. As someone who works in the service industry, I genuinely felt bad for the bartender. They continued serving guests despite the pressure, but the staffing situation was simply unacceptable for a hotel bar experiencing that level of business. Your employees deserve the support and staffing necessary to do their jobs properly, and guests deserve service that doesn't leave one person trying to manage an entire packed bar alone. How does a hotel allow this to happen on such a busy evening? The other disappointment was the price. I ordered a gin Bee's Knees, which ended up being the most expensive cocktail I purchased during my evening out. At $18, it was noticeably more expensive than comparable cocktails I had elsewhere that night, where I paid $12 at Teardrop Lounge, Nines Hotel. At that price point, I expect an experience that feels worth it, and unfortunately, the overall visit fell short. What makes this particularly disappointing is that I returned with genuine affection for the Driftwood Room and the memories I associate with Portland. I wanted to support the establishment, not criticize it. Instead, I left with an impression that was far removed from the experience I remembered. I will be back in Portland, and I hope the Driftwood Room can once again be a place I enjoy visiting. But management needs to take a serious look at staffing levels, especially during major events and busy evenings. You cannot expect one bartender to adequately serve a bar packed with nearly 30 people without providing additional support. This review isn't intended to take anything away from the bartender, who appeared to be doing their best under difficult circumstances. My criticism is directed at management and the decisions that left them in that position. I wanted to love my return visit. Sadly, I left disappointed. Please do better for your guests, your employees, and the reputation of a bar that holds fond memories for people who have lived in and loved Portland.

The food is excellent and the drinks are unique (in a good way). And the 'feel' is uniquely excellent. Our second time there, but it's clearly a 'go to' spot for us.

If you only hit one craft cocktail bar on your visit to Portland, make it this one…read more Wax Social is a speakeasy and vinyl listening lounge tucked inside a Best Western in the West Hills.. and I mean that in the best way possible. Super moody lighting, hundreds of framed musician photos covering every wall, warm comfortable seating, and a custom hi-fi sound system that will rearrange your expectations for what a speakeasy bar and listening lounge can be. It's a hidden gem in the most literal sense: no signage on the outside and nothing to tip you off as you enter the building. To find Wax Social you walk through the hotel lobby at 9900 SW Canyon Rd, up a staircase left of the registration desk, and look around until you find a frosted glass door marked "Listening Lounge." Open it. You'll be glad you did. Start with the cocktails. The menu is split between elevated timeless classics and original house creations, and both sections of this cocktail menu can bang. The King of Pain is rum-forward and finished with an orange coconut foam that looks as good as it tastes. The Watermelon Man showcases Japanese gin and elderflower in a refreshing and complex profile that's hard not to love. The Sweetest Taboo is a mezcal drink built around blue maize, red bell pepper, pineapple, and lime that hits that rare combination of bold and perfectly balanced. Light My Fire brings blanco tequila and Ancho Reyes together with habanero bitters for real depth. If you want to wander off-menu, they can handle that flawlessly too. Over several visits I've enjoyed a Paper Plane, Tommy's Margarita, Gimlet, Last Word, Too Soon, and others, all executed perfectly. On one visit, the guy next to me at the bar was visiting Portland from Sweden and ordered a Flip. I've been to a lot of craft cocktail bars and never heard someone order one. Clayton, one of the bartenders, didn't blink. Went right to work making a luxurious Flip from memory that the customer couldn't stop raving about. I was impressed. Clayton is also working on several rum-forward cocktails coming to the menu later this summer - I love rum drinks enough to say that sitting at the bar talking shop and the concepts he's tinkering with is worth a visit on its own. Full mocktail lineup, plus wine, bubbles, and craft beers. Now about the sound system. DJs spin all-vinyl sets of funk, soul, R&B, and deep cuts across decades on a custom hi-fi setup that sounds absolutely incredible. Even when the DJ is in full flow and the music is turned up, you can still hold an easy conversation with a group of six or eight people. I've been there with a large group in the back corner on couches and comfortable chairs and everyone kept commenting on it. The music is present and powerful and somehow never swallows the laughter and conversation happening around you. They clearly built this bar around the music. The food is a genuine surprise for a craft cocktail lounge. Think small plates/tapas in terms of dining style: you come for the drinks and next thing you know you've ordered half the menu, made a dinner of it, and somehow backed into a beautiful evening of food, drink, and music. Must-orders: ahi poke nachos, deviled eggs, braised pork gnocchi. Don't overlook the shaved asparagus and white bean salad with sherry vinaigrette, Manchego, and crispy shallots. Simple and elegant and every bit as good as the more indulgent plates. Steak bites and shrimp are worth ordering too. Bring friends so you can order more and share. Owners Sean and Travis are present most nights, greeting you at the door and checking in at your table. That care shows in everything here, including a staff that knows how to read the room. A few things worth knowing: parking is easy, the location is simple to reach from Portland or Beaverton, and the bathrooms are spotless. Open late on weekends. Whether you're planning a romantic date night in Portland, a special occasion, a group night out, or just a solo evening at the bar with someone who really knows cocktails, this is your spot. Among the best craft cocktail and listening lounge experiences in the greater Portland metro area. You've gotta check it out.
