Mike has helped me several times with large Sushi Trays for parties I have hosted, with book club, ladies night and most recently for an igloo BYOF event in King of Prussia! Small restaurant, seems family owned. One staff member was really friendly and endearing as he interacted with the customers. I assume he may be the owner. Service was quick. This is really quality sushi in the area. Sushi rice is soft and rolls are packed generously and tight. We ordered one salmon bento box that came with many sides (all great), a few sushi rolls, and rock shrimp app. I appreciated how the rock shrimp was meaty rather than being disguised with tons of fry and the sauce that came with was delicious (maybe some type of spicy mayo). I wanted to try the spicy shrimp and scallop roll and could see why people like this type of roll but it wasn't for me- this was still really good if you like this type of fried vegetable mix combined with the seafood- but was not spicy at all. Points off for the wasabi not being as spicy as typical sushi place wasabi is and also was very disappointed with the portion size of spicy mayo that I paid $1 extra for- cup was MAYBE 1/3 full.. also miso soup came cold which isn't a huge deal since we just heated it up. read more

Do I dare say that this local spot in Norristown has the best sushi in KOP? I've been to Ronin a good couple handful of times. They have a family kind of atmosphere where the staff makes jokes with the customers and treat you like friends/family. They will remember you when you return which you will return, and they will make you feel welcomed. So I think that goes to show you how their service will be. Their food is amazing too! The drinks they serve are in cans, so don't expect any free refills. Odd comment, but they have really nice thick napkins that makes cleaning messes or keeping yourself clean very easy. I wish I had them at my house... I was not overly impressed with the Ramen or Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box when I had it from here. The Ramen didn't taste like traditional Ramen to me, and the egg in the Ramen seemed to have a very unique flavor that just didn't sit right with me. The Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box is a great value choice, but I feel like the flavoring for the Chicken Teriyaki didn't live up to expectations. The Godzilla, Volcano, California, and West Norriton rolls are just a few rolls I've had from here. They are very delicious, and you get your moneys worth with them compared to other restaurants. Highly recommend the Godzilla and Volcano rolls as they are my go to favorites and usually for my friends too! I've only been here once and I've ordered the Japanese chicken fried rice with pineapple. IT WAS EXCELLENT. I still can't stop thinking about it. I may place an order for the Christmas weekend!. I went to this place because of the good reviews. Unfortunately, I was severely disappointed with all aspects of the service here. Coming from someone who is Asian, the food was tasteless and bland. I asked for hot sauce, and was given a TINY bit of hot chili oil. When I received my check, they had charged me, without notifying me in the beginning that this owas going to be charged. In my opinion, this is deceitful and honestly it felt like they were trying to scam me. When I confronted them on this, the staff was not empathetic and instead pointed to "this information is on the menu". However, the menu, was not in my possession at the time, and the waiter made it seem that the sauces were free. Don't waste your time going to this disingenuous place, they don't care about the customers and need some serious rethinking about their morals. There are much better places in Norristown. read more

My husband and I have been hesitant to try this place because one of my friends did not have a good experience with Ramen at Ronin. However, our other friends highly recommended Ronin for sushi. So we decided to come here for sushi one night for date night. I was really craving for deep fried sushi and was hoping they have them, and they do! I ordered three rolls Godzilla roll, crazy boy roll, and spicy salmon mango roll. Godzilla roll is my favorite! I would absolutely get it again. Their Ramen is a clear afterthought unfortunately, taking a backseat to the sushi I assume. The soup was very basic, like a low sodium chicken stock. No bone flavor or richness. Needed a ton of help- I had to ask for soy and a pretty crappy version of chili oil ($1). The pork was not chashu/belly. Instead was a thicker and much more dry flaky cut of roast. Not good. $15. We enjoyed a nice lunch at Ronin today and were the first customers in for lunch. The dining room was pleasantly decorated with framed pictures. The service was prompt and attentive, with soup and salad served before our lunch specials. We enjoyed a featured special sushi roll called OMD that included spicy tuna and mango slices before the meal, which was delicious. My companions enjoyed the sushi lunch while I had the sashimi. So I've been super excited to try this spot since I saw it was coming to town. Took me a few months but I finally got there. The interior is a small simple setup, but it's BYOB so an immediate star there. The workers all said hello to us with smiling faces and I immediately felt welcomed. Our waitress even joked with us throughout the night The great: their popcorn chicken! Awesome flavor and a different breading. The bao bun... I have never had such flavorful not grisly pork on a bun! It didn't even need a sauce (I still borrowed the chickens spicy Mayo tho). The seaweed salad was very good, as expected I just felt the ramen wasn't super flavorful. The pork chashu included was pretty good, and not fatty like I usually find. But ramen is all about the broth. And there just wasn't enough umami for my sister or I (she got the shouyu, I went with spicy kimchi). The price was pretty good for the quantity of food. The quality was okay also. For takeout, it was packaged pretty nice. It's a quiet place never crowded however the food speaks volumes to the quality, freshness, attention to detail put into every dish. I've been here twice since they opened and loved both experiences. They have a vast menu, including sushi, ramen, poke, and bento boxes. A couple of fantastic things about Ronin, first, it's BYOB! Yay, so grab a bottle of wine or a few beers with you. The second is their lunch specials are seven days a week. So you can pop in on the weekend and get a good deal. $13 for three sushi rolls, miso soup, and salad is a steal! The service is excellent. On both my visits, they were friendly and attentive. The food is tasty; on the last visit, we tried one of the specialty rolls, fairytale lobster roll, and it was to die for. It's a little sweet, but we loved it. My daughter loves their miso soup and loves that they have vegetarian ramen, which can be challenging to find. I can't say enough great things about this place. It's clean and freshly remodeled. Started of with some lovely green tea sipping to calming Asian music. We ordered a very reasonably priced 3 roll sushi lunch special ($13) that came with miso soup and a salad. You can't beat that!! I loved the ginger dressing on the salad. The sushi rolls in the special were basic but they were decent sized and tasted great. Spicy salmon, tempura shrimp and crab rolls. We also had the tonkatsu ramen soup ($12). It was a flavorful silky and delicious black garlicky pork broth. Perfect soft boiled and soy marinated egg. Topped with scallion mushroom and nori. Not greasy at all. So good! I called to order a Party (for 4) and it was promptly ready when I arrived. For $100 you get a beautiful sushi/sashimi platter, miso soup and salad. Everything was packaged well so there were no spills on the way home. My hands were full so the hostess offered to help me bring it all to the car. It was so thoughtful! The sushi was fresh and tasty. We dug in right away and forgot to take a picture For four adults, it was plenty of food. We even had a little leftover. The only negative comment I could make is my sister in law found a small bone in one of her pieces of salmon. Out of the whole platter, just the one, but something to be careful of!
