Goss quoted me $993 to replace what they claimed was a bad headlight assembly. They listed the part alone at $619. Before approving anything, I asked two very standard, very basic questions: 1. "What is the part number for this $619 headlight assembly?" Melissa told me, "Unfortunately we don't get that until the part arrives." This makes no sense. A shop cannot order a part without knowing the part number first. Big red flag. 2. "How much is the markup on that part?" Melissa said, "Unfortunately I don't have access to that information." Again -- impossible. Every shop sees cost vs retail in their system. It's how parts are priced. Another big red flag. Both responses were evasive and dishonest, and no reputable shop would answer those two questions that way. I took the car to another mechanic (Ron at the Mobil station on 301) for a second opinion. He found the REAL issue was simply a melted connector--extremely common with older cars. He replaced the connector and bulb for $113 and everything works fine now. I saw the owner of Goss respond to another negative review by comparing Goss to a steakhouse and talking about their "warranty." Warranties and steaks have nothing to do with overpricing and refusing to disclose basic information like part numbers and markup -- information every legitimate auto shop can provide instantly. I'm fine with paying steakhouse prices if that's what I ordered, but not if the restaurant can't even tell me what cut of meat they're serving! Bottom line: --Goss tried to sell me a $993 repair that wasn't necessary --Goss refused to disclose part number or markup when directly asked --Another shop fixed the real issue for $113 The upselling is off-putting, but the lack of transparency around parts is inexcusable. We will not be returning, and I'd strongly recommend getting a second opinion before approving any work here.

He had the kitty with him at work in a crate and took him out so I could see him. I don't know if he's single, ladies, but he's a good man. Again, we were fixing our Acura for sale; somewhere in between the inspection and sale interactions, the radiator cracked. Our purchaser took the car to a Honda dealer in Waldorf - their price? $470. The Auto Doctor? $350. They are always saving us money and they their work is impeccable. Thank you again, Mike & Jason!! Take good care of that kitty!

Don't be fooled by the simplicity and grittiness of the shop - they do quality work at affordable rates. They can get swamped sometimes so definitely call ahead. I made the mistake of just stopping by on a Saturday morning for an oil change but had to come back the following weekend because they were booked. Recent comparison shopping - I needed front brake pads & rotors. The dealership wanted to charge $700. At Auto Doctor, I only paid $400 which included an oil change and tire rotation. Huge savings and I could not be happier with the work. I highly recommend this shop - great service and prices.

I brought my truck to Dad's Garage in Owings for three relatively straightforward items:…read more * TPMS sensor programming * Tire balancing * Diagnosing an emergency brake-related clunking noise under load I had an 8:00 AM appointment scheduled well in advance, yet after TWO full days, the truck sat untouched until around 2:00 PM on the second day. This was a job that realistically should have taken a couple of hours. The TPMS issue was never resolved. Initially, I was told the sensors had been programmed correctly and that the warning lights were caused by incorrect tire pressure -- one of the most ignorant explanations I've ever heard from a mechanic. The reality was simple: the inner rear TPMS sensors were never programmed at all, which was the entire reason the truck was brought in. They eventually admitted that after the fact. Next was the wheel balancing. My truck has custom powder-coated wheels. Instead of using stick-on weights like the factory setup already had, they installed hammer-on steel weights on the OUTER edge of the rims, damaging the powder coating in the process. Any competent shop should have immediately recognized the proper balancing method after removing the existing stick-on weights. As for the emergency brake concern, they never properly diagnosed it. I specifically brought the truck in for a loud noise under load -- not the normal sound of the electronic parking brake actuator engaging. They dismissed the issue without ever meaningfully reproducing or testing the concern. To top it all off, they broke a wheel stud using an impact gun on the lug nuts rather than properly torquing them as a qualified mechanic should. Because of the excessive use of the impact gun, I now have concerns about stretching or cracking of the remaining wheel studs and will likely be replacing all of them as a precautionary safety measure. Between the damaged powder coating on the wheels and the wheel stud issue, I am now facing well over $1,000 in damages to either have the wheels professionally re-powder coated or replaced, along with replacing the studs they improperly handled. What made the experience even worse was my conversation with Mike, the owner. From the beginning of the call, he was defensive and adamant that everything had been performed correctly -- until several of those claims were proven untrue. Once confronted with the facts, the conversation quickly became unprofessional, including yelling on the phone rather than attempting to resolve the situation appropriately. Two days wasted, damage to my wheels, unresolved issues, poor communication, and additional damage caused while the vehicle was in their possession. This experience was frustrating from start to finish. Steer clear of Dad's Garage unless you want your vehicle returned with more issues than it had when you dropped it off.

I had a terrible experience with this dealership and would not recommend them. They have zero…read morecommunication or professionalism. I called in and made a "waiting" appt for 8:15, but a couple days before my scheduled appt. I called in to see if I could drop my car off the night before. I was told sure, no problem, just drop it off between 5pm to 9pm. The night before my scheduled appointment I dropped my jeep off. Thinking I still had a scheduled appointment for 8:15. I called the day of my appt around 11:00 am wondering why I hadn't received a call stating my car was ready for pick up. The person who answered told me Caleb was not available, but would put my name on his desk and he'd call me in a little. An hour goes by and I still haven't heard back. So I called again, only to be told that they hadn't started work on my car, and that drop offs don't have a scheduled appt time. Not once was this ever explained to me. Not when I called to change to a drop off, and not when Emily took my keys at time of drop off. Then Caleb, or whatever his name is tells me they have my car in the bay now, and it will be done shortly. So I get ready to go get my car, because I know that an oil change takes about 15 min, a tire rotation takes about 15 min. I arrive over an hour after he said they had begun working on my car to find out they hadn't even started on it. That after I hung up, they took my car back out of the bay. They tell me then that they will start on it now, and it will be done in 45 min. I was so upset with the unprofessionalism at this point I chose to take my keys and leave. Not once was I told that changing from a "wait" appt to drop off would negate my already scheduled 8:15 time, but the nail in the coffin was removing my vehicle after being told they were working on it. I had such high hopes for Crownsville Auto, but at this point would never come back, and never recommended them.
