Um wow. A bit overwhelming as I wasn't expecting to find the shop. I wasn't ready to really dig in but I'll be back to do so.

“Even as a fairly experienced, if not very skilled, knitter, I find a lot of yarn stores intimidating and cliquey.”

The main floor has a knitting lounge that is open for those that want to sit a knit/crochet. There's also a "cafe" to purchase drinks with a small list of coffee and tea. There's another floor in the basement with even more selection of yarn and a bathroom for customers. During my visit on a Saturday, the business was popping! The parking lot is small and narrow. There's a few workers that are on the floor helping with customers. As a noobie, I was walking aimlessly around the store until I gave up and had to ask for help from Christina. She was very helpful, and thoughtful with her answers to my many questions. I appreciated her as she didn't rush when describing the different yarn I could use. I will be back for materials and tips for my next project.

As soon as you enter the store, you're greeted by an employee letting you know that there is a whole other section of the store downstairs. There's a convenient couch section for the family members who don't knit where they can relax. While resting here , an employee offered me tea or coffee while I waited ! It's clear that the employees are all knitters themselves, so they have the domain expertise to help patrons.

My recommendation is to those who are able: Pick your order UP at the store and bypass home delivery. I am not going to stay home 24x7 to wait for something. There was no attempt from C/Service 1800-6472-4235 @ Michaels to contact Purolator to fix the problem. No refund offered unless the shipping company initiates the return. So good luck to me tracking my purchase directly with Purolator. You can see the store front from the roads if you're looking towards the plaza. The sign is done in a pretty font befitting its name. There's plenty of free parking. The lot is accessible from Steeles. The store looks deceptively small from the outside. It's long, and has a second floor. This specialty shop has just about anything you may require for all your sewing and thread craft needs. Not only will you find supplies, you will be able to avail yourself of the knowledge the owner and staff can share. In fact, they teach their own classes here. When we came in looking for a new pair of scissors, we enjoyed browsing the books, patterns, and accessories as well. We did find that it's a little more expensive for some things than going to the Fabricland up Weston Road, but we enjoyed the better atmosphere and the satisfaction of supporting a local business. If you don't want the sterile shopping experience of a chain like Fabricland, this place is for you. The inspiration and knowledge you will come away with from here instead make it worth repeat returns.

They don't stock everything I want but, they do have a HUGE variety of yarns and will order your request for you if they don't have it stocked. I enjoy spending time time there looking through the offerings - I always make sure to dive through the sale bins for some GREAT deals. The price range, and as mentioned, the inventory varies widely (something for everyone). There is a fairly wide selection of yarn crafting tools and, a good variety of knitting magazines, books and pattern leaflets. The staff is wonderful. I stop in often to get help with a pattern, and help is always graciously forthcoming. They never mind me dropping in randomly, having a seat, pulling out my needles and chatting up a storm - it seems a lot of the clientele and neighbourhood knitters have the same idea. The proprietor is a knowledgeable and highly skilled knitter, she and another staffer offer classes and there is a repair and finishing service on offer. Again, this is a wonderful, charming little shop - I enjoy the warm, friendly vibe at this place and recommend it highly. EDITED TO ADD: Subtracted a half star for lack of a website. It would be nice to see an online list of offerings but, I can respect that not everyone needs or wants to be online.

I called a tailor in my neighborhood, just a couple of quick questions and we are set. For the record, I was willing to pay up to 200$ to have my sweater repaired, because you can buy good quality woolen sweaters for less than that. This place won't be getting my money
