The main floor has a knitting lounge that is open for those that want to sit a knit/crochet. There's also a "cafe" to purchase drinks with a small list of coffee and tea. There's another floor in the basement with even more selection of yarn and a bathroom for customers. During my visit on a Saturday, the business was popping! The parking lot is small and narrow. There's a few workers that are on the floor helping with customers. As a noobie, I was walking aimlessly around the store until I gave up and had to ask for help from Christina. She was very helpful, and thoughtful with her answers to my many questions. I appreciated her as she didn't rush when describing the different yarn I could use. I will be back for materials and tips for my next project.

As soon as you enter the store, you're greeted by an employee letting you know that there is a whole other section of the store downstairs. There's a convenient couch section for the family members who don't knit where they can relax. While resting here , an employee offered me tea or coffee while I waited ! It's clear that the employees are all knitters themselves, so they have the domain expertise to help patrons.

This unassuming shop has been part of the plaza at the northeast corner of Weston Road and Steeles…read moreAve. W. for decades. You can see the store front from the roads if you're looking towards the plaza. The sign is done in a pretty font befitting its name. There's plenty of free parking. The lot is accessible from Steeles. The store looks deceptively small from the outside. It's long, and has a second floor. This specialty shop has just about anything you may require for all your sewing and thread craft needs. Not only will you find supplies, you will be able to avail yourself of the knowledge the owner and staff can share. In fact, they teach their own classes here. When we came in looking for a new pair of scissors, we enjoyed browsing the books, patterns, and accessories as well. We did find that it's a little more expensive for some things than going to the Fabricland up Weston Road, but we enjoyed the better atmosphere and the satisfaction of supporting a local business. If you don't want the sterile shopping experience of a chain like Fabricland, this place is for you. The inspiration and knowledge you will come away with from here instead make it worth repeat returns.

Terrible customer experience at this store. They are not helpful & rather than listen to this…read morecustomer's question, they suggest you attend a private class (at a cost of $33/ half hour). Not a community vibe at all. In fact, it's quite Unwelcoming. As a beginner, I purchased yarn from their store & was told to feel free to contact them with questions while knitting my sweater. However, when I called them with a simple question, I was referred to take a private class, rather than giving me a chance to trouble shoot with them on the phone. I did not wish to spend money on a private class when my question could be resolved thru a chat. Earlier this week, I dropped by the store and the woman working there was unapproachable & insists that she can only answer questions by appointment. As such, despite it being a storefront with regular hours Monday to Sunday, they operate by "appointment only" if you have a question. In contrast, I had a very positive & pleasant experience calling another local knitting store today & my question was resolved in a few minutes by a kind person. I would not recommend knit-o-matic.

They had a good selection of different materials that I could choose from for the needles I was buying, and the cost was reasonable for what I purchased. I was helped very quickly, and I even asked for assistance with finding another specific product that I purchased on-site. All in all, I would definitely return to this store for my knitting needs if I was back in the area; it's a great local shop.
