She doesn't have a very huge collection of yarn, but most of them are pretty and with a reasonable price.

Downsview

Going to start my first crochet project, but first needed supplies! This store is big with two…read morefloors of shopping. The main floor has a knitting lounge that is open for those that want to sit a knit/crochet. There's also a "cafe" to purchase drinks with a small list of coffee and tea. There's another floor in the basement with even more selection of yarn and a bathroom for customers. During my visit on a Saturday, the business was popping! The parking lot is small and narrow. There's a few workers that are on the floor helping with customers. As a noobie, I was walking aimlessly around the store until I gave up and had to ask for help from Christina. She was very helpful, and thoughtful with her answers to my many questions. I appreciated her as she didn't rush when describing the different yarn I could use. I will be back for materials and tips for my next project.

As soon as you enter the store, you're greeted by an employee letting you know that there is a whole other section of the store downstairs. There's a convenient couch section for the family members who don't knit where they can relax. While resting here , an employee offered me tea or coffee while I waited ! It's clear that the employees are all knitters themselves, so they have the domain expertise to help patrons.

This unassuming shop has been part of the plaza at the northeast corner of Weston Road and Steeles…read moreAve. W. for decades. You can see the store front from the roads if you're looking towards the plaza. The sign is done in a pretty font befitting its name. There's plenty of free parking. The lot is accessible from Steeles. The store looks deceptively small from the outside. It's long, and has a second floor. This specialty shop has just about anything you may require for all your sewing and thread craft needs. Not only will you find supplies, you will be able to avail yourself of the knowledge the owner and staff can share. In fact, they teach their own classes here. When we came in looking for a new pair of scissors, we enjoyed browsing the books, patterns, and accessories as well. We did find that it's a little more expensive for some things than going to the Fabricland up Weston Road, but we enjoyed the better atmosphere and the satisfaction of supporting a local business. If you don't want the sterile shopping experience of a chain like Fabricland, this place is for you. The inspiration and knowledge you will come away with from here instead make it worth repeat returns.
