It's almost across the street from the Green Mango restaurant so it's on the East stretch of Bloor West. The store has a great selection of handmade goods from local artists! Everything from recycled shopping totes made from coffee bags, to handmade "dim sum" & "sushi" rings; to pretty gem and pearl necklaces. There is even a cute selection of clothes from local designers. Parking is relatively easy in front of the store. Definitely drop in to check out the stuff!

But every…read moretime I've gone here, there is at least one person who is not only friendly but goes above and beyond, with extra helpful, polite, kind, warm, and thorough customer service. One time my cell service was down, so I couldn't access the QR codes I needed to do several Amazon returns. The person behind the counter offered to hotspot his phone so I could return my packages -- something only someone trusting and friendly would do. (I personally would never do this, being more cynical about cybersecurity. Please don't take this as a cue to inundate the staff with requests to hotspot their data!) The store has an extensive collection of seasonal cards and a constantly updated selection of surprisingly useful discount books (cooking, children's). I get that reviews from past years were about more surly staff, and the hours might be irregular. I did find staff years ago less helpful, but over the past two years, I've only had STELLAR service, and I tend to go after work. I'm grateful we have such a helpful Canada Post option and basic stationery store in the neighbourhood.

After month 2 of waiting and calling (the shop is literally 10 mins from me I Had a commission overdue ) I waited 3plus months for an order to arrive and when I called I was told purolator had destroyed my package (when in a call earlier that day they had said it was "on the way") Im all about supporting local but with the way I was treated id rather just order off amazon or go to Walmart. Today I decided to give them another chance in store I asked for supply on paint markers and was shown a dirty used cardboard box under the till with only white black and red available. When I asked if they would recommend anything for my piece I'm working on the cashier shrugged and said "I dunno" then went on to say I should shop somewhere else.. the neighbouring art store was closed. Would NEVER recommend anyone waste any time in this dump. I hope they go out of business.

My friend and I wandered in on a Sunday afternoon to find a children's art class going on. The staff were highly engaged in the class but did briefly stop to greet us and to let them know if we needed anything. The space isn't huge as the majority of it seems to be dedicated to their art classes, but they have the basic supplies, plus some other fun items that are sure to catch your eye. There is a small room which looks to be a gallery of sorts, but it was hard to tell exactly what was going on with the space. This store is for folks who love to write, do calligraphy, or have a fondness for fountain pens and decent stationery. It is heaven and deadly. I decided not to go in. I knew that if I did, I'd be there for hours, wanting every fountain and calligraphy pen, and every ink imaginable. I love fountain and calligraphy pens. I am content with the pens that I have, so I did some window-browsing instead. I noticed Blackwing pencils on a desk close to the window. They aren't cheap! A single pencil will cost you $40. My not entering this store was a wise choice. Blackwing pencils are special in that they use high-quality graphite that rarely breaks. It is made of incense-cedar wood that makes sharpening it easy. There's a rectangular eraser on top, likely for flair. It's still crazy expensive for a pencil! If you are looking for a fancy writing instrument or quality paper, this store is for you. I was happy browsing from afar. If I do win the lottery, you'll find me here buying everything. (490)

Located at the corner of Queen and Ossington, this sewing centre is a unique gem. Don't let the appearance deceive you, there is alot going on within those four walls. I have always tried to go to this place but it was either not open or I was in rush to get somewhere else but this past Saturday I was desperate for some quilting accessories. Being only a block away I decided to venture there first. Upon walking in, its quite the chaos. fabric is everywhere, boxes piled up in corners, thread all over the place.. but once you get past the overwhelming state of the joint, you will see, the sewing machines are antiques (you can still use them though!) and their fabric collection is extensive. The man who works there (I assume owner... although not sure), is very helpful yet not overbearing. For the avid quilter, this place is worth checking out.
