I'm not surprised to hear the place is closing. My partner and I used to be regulars, but we quickly learned our folly. Service deteriorated over the course of last year to the point where we'd come in, be seated, and wait 20+ minutes for a server to come take our order, even with the majority of the tables empty. The food was never good but towards the end it became abysmal. The last burger I had, the patty was carbonized and the bun was dry and crumbling. My partner had the salmon bowl and it tasted like it had been reheated at least once. We both ordered Caesars, but mine was impossibly spicy (theirs was fine). The Salmon Burger: Beautiful presentation, but after the first bite the bun completely disintegrated and fell apart into chunks...now I have just a mouth full of mayonnaise. Not even tarter sauce but mayonnaise. Management cutting corners on the sauce and on the bun. They served you the cheapest bun they could find on the market, and with that said....of course mayonnaise instead of tartar sauce, and we both know which one is cheaper, right? Now it's just a pool of watery mayonnaise with what looks like chunks of bread on my plate ...it was as if witnessing the incredible science of sponge absorption in action :/ The Garlic Fries: It looked and tasted like someone else's leftover fries they didn't want, and served to the next guest. It was scrappy, old and cold with barely any garlic. They're even cheap 'ing on the garlic! I told our waiter, but unfortunately it was not much different the second time around. There is a very loud and clear feeling that management is cheap....with their sauce selections, shit quality buns and serving of leftover fries. The only thing that is not cheap are their menu prices. Ok...imagine this for me.... Always fancied this location. It's in such a cute neighborhood as well. The restaurant itself gives rustic vibes in a welcoming way. It's not an overly big space but it makes it to be an intimate place to be. It may get a little loud when busy with the music and voices over powering but a place to be when wanting something more chill and laid back. The service was wonderful. Our server checked on us a few times (although I feel like she over did it on this), but overall I think she as great with the service. Food wise: I guess what I had previously tried when I first visited this location years ago was pretty decent but it's been years since I came here. I got the hula hula tofu bowl which really was just like a salad bowl. Not fully what I was expecting it to be as a rice bowl with slightly lack of flavour. B said he was craving for burgers suddenly. We were in Coquitlam at that time and the only thing I can think of was Romer's. I told him that Romer's had really good burgers and it is a must try. This is the first time to this location. I liked the atmosphere. All Covid 19 protocols are in place here. There is 1.5 hours of free parking in the Suter Brook Village. B got the double maple bacon Cesar. He said it was nothing special. B got the Chorizodor burger and I got the Red Truck burger. The Chorizodor burger was very tasty and the flavor combined very well. The quality of the meat / ingredients were fresh and high quality. Not many places have chorizos. So, it was nice to see it here. I got the red truck burger. The burger had a very strong smoky flavor bbq sauce. It was good. But the sauce was very overpowering. I had a Cesar salad with mine and it was nothing special. The salad was somewhat sad. B had fries with his burger. They were good but the burger basically filled him up and he couldn't finish his fries. Overall good food. We will be back to try out the other burgers. read more

Terrible, disinterested, slow service. Drinks took forever to arrive, and that was after we sat there for almost 20 minutes being ignored. Staff could clearly see us sitting there, yet nobody bothered to come over. Not sure if it is a training issue or if management just isn't paying any attention. Brussels sprouts appetizers were essentially just slopped on a bare plate. Salmon on the salmon bowl was the tiniest piece of fish you could imagine. Food appeared to be reheated from frozen. Don't go here unless you are willing to wait an hour for your food. Arrived at 6:45 and didn't receive my entree until 7:45. It wasn't a full restaurant. They did have an event upstairs but I'm sure that was booked ahead of time. It's not worth it. Not even for the dine out menu which is 35$. Our server was kind. Just moved to the area and had a gift certificate. Friday night date-night with wife. Saw another table eating burgers and they looked Homer drool-worthy We had a gift cert - tipped out 20% off the original amount (hate it when customers tip on the discounted amount - where I am from, servers are taxed on the original sales, not on the sales minus discount). The waitress did a good job, especially considering that she was running the floor mainly by herself due to weather - other workers came in late I think. The outdoor patio looked in bad shape - awnings fell due to winter storm? Yikes. I bet this place is a great place during the fall and warmer weather. Will I return? It was a bit difficult to find at night. It is in Suter Brook Village. There is free parking for 1 1/2 hours in the parkade across the street but the restaurant will validate parking for 3 hours. They have nice high ceilings and the restaurant is very well lit. Because of the high ceilings the room was not noisy. Safety protocols were well implemented, servers were all wearing masks, tables were cleaned between seatings, menus were sanitized and there was good spacing between tables. We arrived during happy hour and ordered wine and a Sicilian pizzette from the happy hour menu. The pizzette was good. Service was also good. For our entrees my husband and I both ordered New York steaks blackened. I ordered the steak with chimichurri sauce and my husband had his with the peppercorn sauce. Both steaks were cooked as ordered but were very tough. I think the prices were also higher than what is shown on their website. I think we were charged $25.95 each and the website shows $22.95. Maybe we should have stuck to a hamburger as this is what Romer's specializes in. It was a decent dining experience but I don't think that I would rush back. If I did go again I would probably stick to ordering a hamburger. read more

4 stars for the drunken donuts. I came here specially for the donuts after trying them at a Yelp Christmas event last year. I remembered it and tried to find time to get to a Romer's. I came here early and got a table easily. Maybe the rain kept people away too as it was not very full when getting close to the lunch hours. The donuts (mini size like those at PNE) were freshly fried and served with 3 dips - Kahlua Nutella, Lemon Limoncello, and Maple Whisky - was simply delicious. I could not decide which was my favorite dip as they were all good. I also tried the eggs benedict which was ok though the eggs had the lingering taste of vinegar. The mac and cheese was not too bad either. I will say, stick to the drunken donuts and skip the others. Maybe the burgers will be better. read more

I'd say a 2.5 maybe 3 depending on the day? The portion of the food are fine and they definitely don't taste as bad as some have said, but they aren't memorable either. Some dishes are fine but just fine, some are quite plain. The spaghetti was cooked perfectly, the sauce is a nice attempt but still quite bland. The meatballs were good. The burger was fine but nothing special. In general it's not great but not bad. However, if you put in the consideration for the price..it's just not worth it. Some waitresses have better attitude and training than others so the service do depends. It's just not a place I'd recommend or return to but they aren't that terrible. read more

Service was very friendly and attentive, but we were disappointed with the Dine Out menu. Ordered the goat cheese crostini and goat cheese was barely present. It was a heap of guacamole with a weirdly shaped shrimp on it with a sprinkling of goat cheese. Midway through the main course of some poor tasting over cooked pasta we were told the dessert we ordered (out of a choice of 2) was no longer available. My girlfriend asked for the Key Lime Pie, (which was not an option listed, but was on the menu) and was told that would be fine. 5 minutes later the server came back and said this wouldn't be possible as it wasn't a option. I understand this not being an option when ordering, but as a gesture of goodwill for them not having the dessert we requested I definitely expected this accommodation. I would like to say I won't be returning, but as the options are so narrow in my neighborhood, I know I'll make a return trip when desperation for a tad of variety returns. Our server, Tallie, went above and beyond to continue checking in with us and make sure we had everything we needed. OK enough is enough. We live in the area, we have a dog and were really excited about a dog patio. Understand this review is a dozen events combined.... How does one place consistantly have the worst service no matter who is serving you that day? I have sat for 20 minutes without service, people come and go from the host stand unattended. The food is worse and worse each time, and takes longer each time, if remembered at all. I have to get up and go find someone for cutlery after food is delivered, and cutlery is asked for. Every time I think it's a bad day, server was new, trying times etc - but we've been trying this on and off for 2 years and leave angry, and usually hungry, each time. No more. We wanted to love you, we really did and we tried to love you, but you offer nothing in return. Dog patio or not, this relationship is over. read more

If I could give a negative rating, I would. I will never come here again. I was here just last week for a staff event, and everything was terrible. We had about 25 people, and so we had the loft booked. The service was minimal, at best. People had to remind servers about their drinks and orders. The menu was a set menu because it was a large event, but they were poor choices. Plus the menus were printed out incorrectly and had massive errors. The appetizers and dessert were shared!! SHARED. Even during covid times. Not cool. It was $60 per person - even if you did not have the appetizer or dessert. WAY too expensive. The food itself was tasty, when it was hot. Some did not come hot. As previously stated, the service was minimal, therefore we could not get drinks ordered as often as we would have liked. Finally, when we were just done with the whole thing and wanted to leave, WE COULDN'T. They couldn't figure out the bills or the bills got mucked up or something happened, and we were stuck there, jackets on, wanting to leave this atrocious event. FORTY MINUTES. It took them 40 minutes to figure it out. Then, on top of alllllll of this, they did not tell us that there was an included 18% gratuity in the bill, and too many of the attendees tipped (on top of the included gratuity) and are pretty pissed about it now. This already has been one of my very worst experiences at a restaurant, EVER, but then I come in to work this morning and the co-workers who organized the event tells me that "we didn't meet the minimum monetary requirement" I'M SORRY, WHAT?! And they charged her personal credit card almost $200 extra. Even though we had crappy service and could not order drinks, even though they f-d up on the bills on a set event, even though our food came cold, even though they got extra tips for lousy service by not telling us it's included, even though we had to remind them of our orders... even though the whole thing was grossly overcharged, WE HAD TO PAY MORE. I will NEVER return to this restaurant, and I've already told ALL of my family and friends about this ridiculous experience. EDIT: I would like to follow up. Since I posted this review, we have had the manager of the Port Moody location, as well as the General Manager reach out to apologize and look to remedy the situation. Food average, poor breakfast and sadly while servers are friendly they are just not attentive, majority being to relaxed often leaving you wait a long time. We live near by and we adore the hustle and bustle however, along with lack of attentiveness we have had the restaurant forget to switch the music off leaving it blare through the night on several occasions. Burger bar located in Suter Brook Village in Port Moody. They have all kinds of burgers, salads, tacos and more. The only downside is the burgers are fairly expensive and don't come with a side. But, if you go during happy hour (3-6pm and 9pm-close) you'll be able to get appy and drink specials. read more

I came here over the weekend for a friend's 40th Birthday party that was a surprise. We were in the Growler room which isn't that big. In fact the whole place for a Romer's Burgers is small with very very limited seating and a awkward layout to navigate through. I am aware of their menu selections and how overwhelmed I can be but still when I arrived I was overwhelmed. By default when I am super overwhelmed I go to the default classic burger on a lettuce bun. The lettuce arrived in the shape of a bun with a healthy amount of lettuce which made it easier for me to turn it into a burger salad. I sampled some Onion rings which were amazing, one of the better onion rings that I have had. Was a little underwhelmed by the dessert offerings but this seems to be a chain thing more than an individual eatery thing so I won't knock of points for this but be aware that you're going to be blown away by the dessert but for the gluten free peeps out there they have a decent chocolate caramel brownie. The service was friendly enough, however, our waitress was overly pushy with me with the drinks. I don't drink alcohol and I didn't want nor should I explain that to someone but I just wanted to settle for some non alcoholic beverages but she was just a little too pushy with the drinks. To be fair(er) this restaurant is 2.5 stars out of five. I chose a 50% grade because the consistence is all over the place for all areas: food, service, drinks and atmosphere. I've come to terms with really only wanting go in for brunch (early!) and sitting down to eat during off the peak hours. Enough reviews have focused on the negative aspects of this establishment and the majority of them are true. I'll try to stay as positive as I can: 1) Most staff know what they're doing and have a good attitude 2) Weekend Brunch - by far the best value and service speed 3) The Caesar's are terrific 4) The Street Taco's are maybe the best thing on the menu I truly wish this place was better because its a stones throw from my condo, unfortunately, I've had to make another place my local. If I could snap my fingers and make adjustments the first two things I would do are: clean the bathrooms more often when its busy + stop charging individually for sides of fries AND charging extra for a smidge of dipping sauce. Skip, Uber Eats, and DoorDash drivers beware!!! After picking up from this place multiple times, the service we receive as drivers is appalling. Each time I have picked up from Romer's, I have had substantial waits of 30-45 MINUTES. They claim the food to be ready - twice now I've gotten a notification stating the food is ready from my app, and when I get there, they haven't even begun to make it- then give you excuses constantly when you ask where your order is. I have been told everything from "the kitchen is backed up" to "we don't have enough cooks today" when there's barely anyone dining in. Because of the LONG WAITS for pickups, my on-time delivery scores have suffered. Couple that with barely any parking, and there's nothing good about picking up from this place. Avoid taking orders from this place like the plague; the only reason I'd want to pick up from here is if I get more than $10 for a pickup. Anything below that isn't worth the crappy service we drivers get! read more

Since my last review in March 2017, I have still been disappointed. I went here in couple months ago with a group of lady friends and the server never came back to ask if we wanted a second glass of wine (she wasn't busy). We were looking to have a few appies and a few glasss of wine that night but because of the service, we left early. I also came back with my family for brunch on the weekend. The kids dishes were good. However my eggs benny was really bad. The English muffin was sooo hard that I couldn't eat it. Im honestly tired of complaining at this place.
