A Better Way Pet Sitting Service

A Better Way Pet Sitting Service

We got extremely lucky when a colleague recommended A Better Way Pet Sitting to me three years ago…read moreas we were preparing to go on our annual Cape Cod vacation. Previous to then, we had always used kennels when traveling. At that time, our two dogs were young and healthy and emotionally balanced. We still weren't happy about boarding them, but we felt it was a safe option for them. We had had horrible experiences with different kennels -- including one that was located inside an animal hospital -- and we swore we would never board our pets again. We didn't know who we could trust to take care of our high maintenance dogs and to go in and out of our home several times a day. Who would do all of the things our aging pets needed, such as give them medicine, feed them their special diet, keep an eye on their health and so on. (One of our dogs was diagnosed with a slow growing cancer last September and the other is a dachshund that suffers from separation anxiety.) Well, we can't recommend Wendi, Michele and Naomi enough! In fact, all of the pet sitters they have sent us over the last three years have been so loving and caring. These sitters really love animals and you can tell from the notes they leave for us that they truly enjoy their work caring for the pets. ABW pet sitting is like finding a terrific babysitter where your comfort level is as high as it can go! I would trust them with anything!! We go away without fear now and when we return, our pets are exactly as they were when we left... they aren't anxious or upset in any way and they look great! ** During this most recent trip our lock wasn't working properly on the front door. Michele contacted me immediately and managed the situation without any hiccups. They are THAT responsible!! Unbelievably great people!!!

A very long overdue update & review, but better late than never!…read more After planning a trip out of the country, my "dog sitter" backed out at the last minute. And who to the rescue?! Rich and Marissa! Sadly, there is not an overnight option. However, I was gone for 6 days, and as promised, they were there early in the morning, again in the afternoon, and yet AGAIN late night to take care of my pup. When I say "take care", I don't mean it lightly! I came home to a diary of visit entries FROM EVERY VISIT--for SIX DAYS! Clearly, the proof was in the pudding as their visits were more than just a quick walk--but love, affection, play time, and attention. MY NEIGHBORS--even those I've never met, stopped me when I came home to say how happy my dog was when outside with Rich and Marissa, big smiles, tail wagging, etc. They all attested to the dedication of time put in by Paw Pals & how fantastic they were with my Naija. And, in each documentation, they were honest & sincere, and you could tell how much they love what they do each and every minute. I never once felt as though this was a burden or tribulation for them. True professionals--and good good people. I came home to the happiest I've seen my pup since I've had her! Not one ounce of resentment that I was gone! Also, I should mention--I have a special needs (three-legged) pit-bull, who suffers from the myriad of stereotypes! Boy did Paw Pals prove each one wrong! Their expertise in ALL breeds & "thinking out of the box" with my special needs pup shone through day in and day out while I was gone. Vitamins, food, appropriate exercise and down time was documented by both them AND the nosey nellies in my neighborhood. I can't praise them enough. I can't hire them enough. I can't appreciate them enough! This is the real deal--l couldn't take care of Naija better myself! I can't wait for their next visit! Keep your calendar open! Naija is anxiously waiting!!

The grooming itself always looks great, and that's the only reason we've kept coming back. Unfortunately, the service and communication have become too difficult to overlook. My mother-in-law even drives an hour and a half from Savin Hill, leaving early just to beat traffic to get him here on time. We now know we shouldn't have bothered rushing to make it. We completely understand that grooming a 70-pound doodle is a big job, but having a 10am appointment that isn't finished until 8pm with one update coming 8 hours later or even an apology for the delay just isn't reasonable. We really want to support local businesses and we're not here to tell anyone how to run theirs, but if the current schedule is too packed, it might be better to take on fewer clients each day. The grooming results are excellent, but the overall experience has become too frustrating to continue

My daughter also takes her hyperreactive dog that one day it'll be loving you and the next day it breaks out the switchblades. They seem to have the knack, every time they just cut Malas nails and we're in and out. I would recommend A Pet's Choice to anyone and everyone. Although because they are good, your appointment might be a month or two out.

This is…read morewhere our dog almost died - he was attacked by another dog and required surgical wound repair and rabies shot leading to an expensive vet bill. We discovered the wound in the car 5 minutes after picking him up at 6pm. The owner of daycare took full advantage of this and denied that it happened there and refused to provide a video or the name of another dog he supposedly played with in the morning (video was deleted). We were told that our dog was "sleeping in the corner" all afternoon after playing with the other dog, which would be completely out of character indicating that he was injured in the morning and was left to suffer until 6pm. Animal Control got involved and discovered that only one person was watching 25 dogs that day and ordered to reduce the number of dogs to 15. If a daycare is unable to notice such a serious injury, to identify a dog in distress for hours or to cooperate and take responsibility for any incidents that may occur, then it is either incompetence, negligence and/or animal cruelty - take your pick. No dog is safe at this daycare.
