The grooming itself always looks great, and that's the only reason we've kept coming back. Unfortunately, the service and communication have become too difficult to overlook. My mother-in-law even drives an hour and a half from Savin Hill, leaving early just to beat traffic to get him here on time. We now know we shouldn't have bothered rushing to make it. We completely understand that grooming a 70-pound doodle is a big job, but having a 10am appointment that isn't finished until 8pm with one update coming 8 hours later or even an apology for the delay just isn't reasonable. We really want to support local businesses and we're not here to tell anyone how to run theirs, but if the current schedule is too packed, it might be better to take on fewer clients each day. The grooming results are excellent, but the overall experience has become too frustrating to continue

DO NOT USE MUDDY PAWS. THE OWNER OF THIS BUSINESS DOES NOT DESERVE YOUR SUPPORT…read more I initially enjoyed using the services at Muddy Paws. I had a wonderful meet and greet session with Melanie who was lovely and my dog took a liking to her. Melanie is amazing. However the woman who runs the business, Jena Howard, needs to learn some manners. I had a TERRIBLE experience with her. For starters, no one mentioned that the person whom you do the meet and greet with will not be the only person coming to complete the services requested. I had scheduled a 30 minute visit for someone to come take my dog out for a walk and at a certain time during the day. It wasn't until 2 hours AFTER my scheduled service that someone showed up to my house to walk my dog. Mind you my dog hasn't met this person yet, which worried me because she can be shy. I was extremely disappointed that no one from Muddy Paws contacted me that my original dog walker could not make the time requested, as it was already approved. And instead sent a male to the house hours AFTER my requested time. To begin with, who made the decision that I needed someone at that time? Not me? For all they know I could've been home by then. Instead of contacting me, Jena decided to send someone else to my house hours after I requested without reaching out to me first. Now, we have ring cameras on the outside of the house and we noticed a gentleman trying to break into the house - trying all doors and side windows to get a way in. With my dog home alone inside barking up a storm. We had nothing else to do besides call the cops, as there is an unfamiliar man trying to get into the house hours after our requested time, so to us it could not have been muddy paws. I've come to realize that Jena sent someone else to my house, and hours later - unsure why she made this call on her own. I tried calling as the company's phone number is listed but of course no answer. I begun to exchange emails with Jena leaving her my number and asking her to contact me SEVERAL times without her reaching out. By the time the cops got there, the man was gone and no where in site. I've asked Jena to inform me on what the male dog walker was wearing so that we would no if it was him or someone else trying to break in. she was not responding to me and I was rushing on my way home at this point to make sure everything was okay. I get inside my home and find a cell phone on the kitchen counter (apparently the dog walker locked his phone inside my home and was unable to get back inside since the code to the lock was on my profile online). And I see Jena texting the dog walker "Prefacing this by saying ***'s owner and father are nuts: Can you please let me know what..." "Can you please let me know what you had on today so I can deal with these lunatics?" Jena, the owner of Muddy Paws, referring to my family as nuts and lunatics. I wonder how she would have acted if a stranger was trying to break into her home to get his phone back when no one communicated with her that the original dog walker was unavailable and that no one was able to come at the time requested. Jena is a poor business owner. Her mannerisms are outstandingly upsetting. And how she treats her customers is so shocking that I'm surprised she is still in business. Ive read many reviews of her company after this incident and I cannot believe I was blinded to all of this. I most certainly will never use muddy paws and I do not recommend it to anyone. For Jena's lack of character and care for the world and people - she should not be running a business.

Personal Experience with Pet Pals…read more A few years ago, I was walking some dogs at the Fells near the Winford Way entrance in Medford. While we were there, Dave -- the owner of Pet Pals -- approached me. He seemed upset that I was walking in that area, saying I "didn't understand" the rules and that it was his designated spot to walk dogs, implying that no one else was allowed there. I reminded him that it's public land and open to everyone. At that point, he became physically aggressive and pushed me twice -- the second time hard enough that I lost control of my dogs' leashes. He then ran toward my dogs and appeared to try to scatter them, so they'd run off. I called the police, who arrived, spoke with both of us, and said something along the lines of, "There are three sides to every story." I decided not to pursue it further at the time and just moved on. I recently came across Pet Pals again, and I felt people should have the full picture before deciding whether to use this company. This is my personal experience, shared in good faith so others can make their own decisions. Hopefully, others have had better luck with Dave, the owner of Pet Pals -- formerly based in Winchester and now operating out of Woburn, as far as I know.

They don't pay attention to the dogs well-being nearly enough, for example we have been leaving our puppy there and have told them that he is having diarrhea but every time we pick him up and ask if his poop was normal they says, "oh yeah, everything was fine" or "I don't know, I didn't work with him" and then when he gets home he continues to have diarrhea. They don't interact with their clients at all, at the end of the day they are just telling you what you need to hear to leave them alone. The only positive thing I can say is that our puppy comes home looking happy and he is tired from playing. Edit: 3 days after posting this review, instead of reaching out to me they called and tried to bully my fiancee into changing it deleting this review. Rather than addressing the issues she just denied any problems and ended up just making my fiancee upset.

A very long overdue update & review, but better late than never!…read more After planning a trip out of the country, my "dog sitter" backed out at the last minute. And who to the rescue?! Rich and Marissa! Sadly, there is not an overnight option. However, I was gone for 6 days, and as promised, they were there early in the morning, again in the afternoon, and yet AGAIN late night to take care of my pup. When I say "take care", I don't mean it lightly! I came home to a diary of visit entries FROM EVERY VISIT--for SIX DAYS! Clearly, the proof was in the pudding as their visits were more than just a quick walk--but love, affection, play time, and attention. MY NEIGHBORS--even those I've never met, stopped me when I came home to say how happy my dog was when outside with Rich and Marissa, big smiles, tail wagging, etc. They all attested to the dedication of time put in by Paw Pals & how fantastic they were with my Naija. And, in each documentation, they were honest & sincere, and you could tell how much they love what they do each and every minute. I never once felt as though this was a burden or tribulation for them. True professionals--and good good people. I came home to the happiest I've seen my pup since I've had her! Not one ounce of resentment that I was gone! Also, I should mention--I have a special needs (three-legged) pit-bull, who suffers from the myriad of stereotypes! Boy did Paw Pals prove each one wrong! Their expertise in ALL breeds & "thinking out of the box" with my special needs pup shone through day in and day out while I was gone. Vitamins, food, appropriate exercise and down time was documented by both them AND the nosey nellies in my neighborhood. I can't praise them enough. I can't hire them enough. I can't appreciate them enough! This is the real deal--l couldn't take care of Naija better myself! I can't wait for their next visit! Keep your calendar open! Naija is anxiously waiting!!
