There are MANY things wrong with this place. This place is not designed with the customers in mind: Its main purpose seems to be to make money out of gay men who are not completely out. THIS IS SHAMEFUL in 2023. This place caters to gay men, as you can see in their merchandise (different from the one in Long Beach ). This place has viewing booths with gay porn videos. The one in Long Beach lacks viewing booths because of an archaic ordinance when Hepatitis C was rampant in Long Beach. There is no more Hepatitis C there. Anyway, the Garden Grove location has viewing booths, that's why lI went there. However, there are rules, which I was informed by the STRAIGHT salesperson there (he explained to me that the company was only hiring straight men for this position bec There are MANY things wrong with this place. However, there are rules, which I was informed by the STRAIGHT salesperson there (he explained to me that the company was only hiring straight men for this position because the gay men hired were getting involved with the public.). That happens everywhere. It seems like DISCRIMINATION to me. I bet the owners are straight and don't really care about their gay clientele. I wanted to buy poppers, which I had been stopped from buying at the previous Romantix store because I had called them "poppers," instead of "video head cleaner" (really?). He explained the rules to use the sex video booths at this place (no sexual activity, really?). I was stopped from buying poppers because I should not take them in there (and what would happen???).
However, if you would bring your own poppers from elsewhere, they would not know. It is really STUPID. So I didn't buy the poppers until I left. BTW, some folks had poppers in the booths, which WERE NOT PRIVATE. However, men hooked up there. As I was leaving I asked to buy the poppers. I was sure I had chosen the black label Jungle JUICE, which is popular among gay men. However, the STRAIGHT MAN at the counter (he told me he was straight and explained the whole company policy to hire straight males for this position), told me that I had chosen a different POPPERS and because he had already rung me he couldn't change it to a different brand, which sounds very bad as a customer service practice. He continued to explain that it was the policy of the company and that they did not operate like Target. In the end, he said he would give me what I wanted, but he would not allow me back at the store because I was difficult. STRAIGHT OPPRESSOR. I left with My POPPERS (sorry, I meant video head cleaner), and I was so angry with this straight asshole that I proceeded to insult him. In Spanish (he was Mexican, I am Peruvian).
All this is to highlight the DISCRIMINATION that Romantix does to their GAY CLIENTS. They should do away with the video booths if they do not agree with what we do there. It's oppression, by the book. If men want to connect sexually, let them do it. No one is getting hurt. I am going to work on changing these OPPRESSING rules, ROMANTIX IS NOT ON OUR SIDE. THEY ARE OUR OPPRESSORS who treat us like criminals. read more
