You know, J ignored the 3.5 star reviews and really wanted this place to be a great local spot, but.... I was under the impression that this place was in business to sell food and drinks. Apparently not. 3 separate servers came to the table and not one of them ever came back with a drink and didn't come close to taking our order. People were seated next to us twice (after we waited 20 minutes) and they were promptly served while we sat there waiting to order drinks and food. They kept promising they'd come back and kept walking by us and helping new customers. Seriously, WTF. After 30 mins and no drinks or food order even taken - bye bye. Trust the bad reviews, because they're correct. The place wasn't even half full. How hard is it to grab a couple beers and take a food order in a half empty place after sitting there like dopes for a half hour. Sucks. Go at your own risk. read more

It's a great place for country dancing. There were 2 things I didn't like is that Romans closes at 1:30am on Saturday night and starts kicking people out at 1:20am lol. Don't trust the time listed saying 24 hours because it's not. The other thing is that the staff inside the bar and the bartenders were pretty rude. The bouncers and the girl in the front was super nice but the staff that were inside were mega rude. My buddy's wife always finds the rare jewel, and Roman's was it for our Saturday eve. Truly a classic dive bar. FYI. Cash only. We arrived around 7pm and found the place rather quiet, but... it ramped up as time passed. The food was traditional bar food (burgers, etc) and good quality, although seemed slightly pricey side for a dive bar (my dive bar reference is the Piper Inn in Denver). Service was excellent from the server staff, and the bartender in the back bar clued us in as to the crowd. What rocked was the country band that was super tight on the classic country hits! Once our server, Don, learned it was our first time he went over the menu with recommendations and honest feedback based on our preferences like we were at a 5-star restaurant. This place is a hoot. My husband and I first went on a Saturday night and listened to a band and watched patrons country dance. We enjoyed thE music and the people watching. I went again recently for lunch with some girlfriends. We enjoyed the food very much. The wings were some of the best I've ever had, the waffle fries wwere delish an bd the chicken burger was the bedding my friend had ever tasted. The mixed drinks are also well done. Upon entering on a late Saturday afternoon, our server took our drink orders twice before her shift ended. The following two hours our service was non existent. We waiting, waved, even walked up to the bar and only received distant looks and glares. As a white female I've never been neglected/ ignored like that. I can only assume it was because I was with two black friends. This was confirmed as we walked out and they continued to get glares from several white women at the bar. As an out of state visitor I was interested in going to a local bar. I was amazed at the blatant racism I witnessed. But the reason why I'm giving it 3 stars is because the menu doesn't tell you how much drinks are and I only bought 4 drinks and ended up spending $80! Asked the waitress for prices after and she told me (for happy hour) drinks were $11.50! And after happy hour, it is $19.50! Roman's is an absolute gem of the West Valley. It's rare to find a dive bar that has no only three separate rooms depending on your mood, but they have really great food as well! My favorite is their Buffalo Chicken Sandwich *chef's kiss*. I really enjoy coming to their Line Dancing on Monday nights and Country Couples on Wednesdays. I had my first date with my husband here and three years later had my Bridal Shower here complete with line dancing lessons. I'm going to be heart broken when they have to move locations. KKEThe bartender called the cops on me as I left. I live a quarter mile from romans and left a 20 dollar tip and went home. I went inside my house and then came back out to get my smokes and the cops were in the street and gave me a dui. A .10 . Thank you Roman's for calling the cops on me. 4 beers over 2 hrs.
