I needed a roof replacement pronto because of bad work done by another company, compounded by some general contractors, not licensed to do roofing, tearing up the roof "exploring" and then tarping it badly when I refused to hire them. Jay immediately gave me a price for the full roof replacement, and asked another client whose work was less urgent if they would swap dates with me. They agreed. That was just the first of many instances of Romano going above and beyond. They showed up on time, worked full days, gave me a running photographic account of the work, and left the site tidy. The job turned out to be very difficult, but they managed all the problems with expertise and without cutting corners or upcharging. Jay was supposed to come out to my house today at 2:00 pm. When I called ahead of time to check on the scheduling, the receptionist told me there must have been a "glitch" in the computer, because he was scheduled for next week. Romano's team is responsive, does solid work, and is budget friendly. While I'm often a consumer of reviews, I felt that their work was really stellar and needs to be recognized. For those that never used a roofer before, finding a good roofer which meets budget can be tricky. I think I got lucky finding Romano. I had Romano's team recently redo my S. Philly rowhome roof and they offered me a series of options that matched my budget. Within a week of signing the quote, they completed the job. As I couldn't get on the roof to do final inspection, they did a great job documenting before and after work. Subsequently, I had a leak which wasn't due to my roof at all but their team was more than supportive of coming out and inspecting the leak to help me find how to solve. We had a leak around our kitchen skylight. I was worried it would get worse as it was rainy quite often around that time. I called a few places to get an estimate. Some of the other companies were late getting to the estimate, others were unprofessional. Romano roofing was on time for the estimate and acted very professional. Got Romano from a friend of mine who used them after a bad experience with another roofer (roof leaked a year later and they wouldn't service him). Everyone I dealt with - from the woman answering the phone to the guys on the job - were super friendly and very honest. I appreciate how they laid out my options for me so that I could choose the solution in the way that best fit my budget and needs. Since we were selling our house soon, we decided to go with the new roof. A new roof is not cheap, but the estimate still came in cheaper than the other roofer that a different friend recommended. Lisa, I read your review and felt the same way about Romano roofing the first time they did a job for me. They worked late, and we ended up sending them home with dinner and soda to eat in their truck on the way home! We were very pleased with them. THEN...called them back for a second routine job....estimate was $800.00 for what ended up to be 1 hours work. Seriously? I can say that I was unnerved when I saw 2 workers sitting ... on their phones...for an hour...waiting for brackets to show up. Even more distressing is that when I brought this concern to Jay, the owner, was far from being addressed or resolved. His explanation was that they have a large, square foot facility...blah, blah, they work fast and good...would you rather we worked slow? Blah...blah and some wacky metaphor about Four Seasons hotel vs. Motel 6...I also sent him an email about my displeasure which went unanswered by Jay. Sorry to say...Buyer Beware...especially on the second job! read more

I would never use them again and definitely not recommended them to anyone. I contractrd them to patch a flat roof. Within weeks of the work, the leak returned. It took awhile brfore I could get them to return to inspect the work. It was then they told me that a new roof was needed. This is after I had paid them $900 for the "patch". If the roof was in such a state, then why not say so in lieu of the patch. T hey gave a quote of 2300 for the new roof, no adjustment for the previous payment. I subsequently found someone else to replace the roof, who did a fantastic job for a much better price. I was extremely disappointed with the service I received. read more

I have a house in Bucks County that needed a new roof. We interviewed 4 different roofing companies and we are extremely thankful that we chose Romano Roofing. During the initial consultation, they were courteous, friendly, gave us all of the info we needed and wanted as well as answered our questions. They didn't pressure us with those sign now tactics but, since they were the 4th company we met, we knew what we wanted, liked, etc and did choose them immediately. They scheduled us quickly. The workers were on time, completed the job in a timely manner, they took pictures of the before and after which we loved comparing, and they even cleaned up after themselves. With everything you read online about bad contractors and especially fearing what could go wrong with a roof, we are so incredibly happy that we chose Romano Roofing. very nice roof completed on time and they answered all our questions. Added fascia board and new gutters and the colors all matched. Quality materials and the roof looks great. Redid all of the flashing on the Chimney and surrounding areas and it is all watertight. Removed all of the old roof and cleaned up all of the mess. read more

I needed a new roof and had no idea who to call so I went to my brother-in-law's friend who was a roofing supply contractor. I figured he could give me a couple good references. I also went on YELP to look for one myself. The reason I called Romano is because I noticed that Jay responded to alot of the reviews, both positive and negative. I felt that he cared about what was being written about his company so to me I thought that would mean he cared about the work that he did. Let's face it anyone can write anything online, and some people you just can't please but at least if someone had a complaint Jay was responding so people could hear his side of the story. The first contractor came out and took a look at the roof and said he would send me the estimate within 2-3 days. A week and a half later I got a estimate that looked like a 5th grade wrote it out on a piece of scratch paper. There were cross outs and write overs, not very professional at all. The 2nd contractor never even called back. When Romano came out Mike explained his product and what Romano would do and printed out the estimate right there on the spot. There were no high pressure sales tactics, he said he would like to earn my business but left it at that. I compared pricing and Romano was extremely competitive. They even matched pricing on new skylights, no questions asked. I decided to go with Romano. Once the deposit was made I was put into their schedule and within a month I had my new roof. I was extremely pleased with the results. I was also impressed because we were away when the roof was installed. I had let my neighbors know what was going on so they were aware and when I came back they let me know that they kept an eye on my house (nice to have good neighbors). They also said that all the guys were very professional and courteous to them. That's a sign of a well run company! After the first rain I noticed a leak in my sunroom. This was an existing leak that was there with my old roof too. The first contractor had thought that it was caused by old roof collars and that new collars would fix the problem. Romano had put on new collars but the problem was still there. I emailed Jay and let him know about the issue. Jay called me back the next day and said that he would come out and look at the problem. He told me that the sunrooms pitch was not that good and the rain would gather up at the roof edge. The seam had gaps and that is where the water would accumulate. He said that he would have his guys remove some shingles, lay down a rubber sealer over the seam and re-shingle the roof. Last Friday during the 95+ weather they were out and fixed the roof. This was not part of our agreement, Jay did not have to fix this as this was an issue with the sunroom not the roof. I highly recommend Romano. Romano Roofing did a great job. I found them through this site after I had a leak in my kitchen. Romano came out quickly and gave me what I felt was an honest and fair estimate. They were scheduled to do the work and needed to reschedule due to weather. However, someone still came out and did a quick fix so that I didn't have a flood in my kitchen. Then when the weather was better they came out quickly and did the job as scheduled. The only reason they didn't get 5 stars was because only one guy came out to do the work and he said it would take half a day at most. It ended up taking him 8+ hours to do the job. Ultimately I would rather have the job done well and not fast so it was ok that he took longer to do the job. I would definitely recommend Romano Roofing. read more
