    Yes!!! I'll take it all!!!

What a gem! Whenever I work in Carmichael I try to stop into this shop. I'm a sucker for their tasty desserts and great selection of quality meats. The woman who runs it is so friendly and always gives me plenty of options when trying to narrow down my choices! I love the mom & pops feel of this place big you're looking for some sweet treats of some yummy meats for a picnic you gotta check this place out!!!

Homemade delicatessen in Carmichael has a very nice employee base and friendly people about. The selection is very large. There are candies in so many varieties that are unique, as well as pastas. But the main attraction here is obviously the delicatessen. Taste of Homemade Delicatessen has, sausage, of many varieties. They also have bacon, and salami among other fine meats. Another bonus is that they have many dessert items that are specially made. Some of the items are more appealing to the eyes, for their novelty, than they are to the actual taste buds. I do recommend, 4 stars.

I love this store! If you are not romanian you have to try " mici " ( skinless sausage) the cakes. I'm from San Rafael and I love to drive 2 hours anytime for some yummies! Everytime I'm going there they have this very warm bread to die for! I just have water on my mouth thinking of all the goodies ! The ladies working there are always very nice and make you feel very welcome!

This is a Eastern European grocery store and we shop here about 5-7 times a year. I should say their food is mostly Romanian but there is also Macedonian, Bulgarian, Polish and a few other East European foods. The owner is very welcoming and friendly. They have a variety of foods mostly meats, cheese, drinks and pastries are to die for. On my visit yesterday we bought bread, eclairs, mici (Romanian sausages made with beef and lamb meat), pickled roasted bell peppers & a few other items. Here's my honest opinion as always ;-) Service - 5 stars Quality of food 4-5 stars Price - 3 stars (great food but a little overpriced but some items are priced ok) For example the bread which is made daily it cost us $3 which is a good price. Romanian mici/sausages about 26-28 equal to about 4lbs cost about $25 price not bad. Roasted Bell Peppers from Macedonia about 80oz $7.99 great price ! Now the Romanian fresh made Turkish Delight at $10 for a pound was way overpriced (that should of been more like $5-6). But here's my overall review at 4 STARS! Take a sec. and check some pics of the food we bought.

    Delicious and juicy!

The best Romanian version of Serbian cevapcici! Ready to grill on Pascha next week. Nice people running the shop, too.

When I walked in, the lady at the counter greeted me in the most unique way possible: by staring at me in silence until I made it to the register. Eventually, I got a menu and ordered the Turkey Chipotle and Chicken Pesto Club. I have to give credit where it's due--the sandwiches were delicious. The Chicken Pesto Club was packed with flavor, the marinated chicken was juicy, and the bacon tied everything together perfectly. The Turkey Chipotle was so good I went back for the second half later. That's when I got an unexpected extra ingredient: a long hair in my sandwich. Nothing kills a craving faster than that. As someone who works in the food industry, that's a pretty big miss and instantly ruined my appetite. Cookie? Mac salad? Straight to the trash. The food was honestly great, but finding a hair in my sandwich definitely took some shine off the "best sandwiches in Carmichael" title.

Has that feeling.. ya know?!? Service was fast and friendly, everything was super fresh, made to order and solid portions. I got the village veggie, with no cream cheese, but thinking back.. that would probably even make the sandwich more epic, it hit all the right spots. It was flavorful and delivered very well. - my buddy got some kind of chicken sandwich that he said was amazing as well. As someone who is bipolar and been homeless before, I always pass along my leftovers to one of the homeless that hangs out in the park. I came up to him today with a cup of tea, and he asked if I could get him a cup of coffee. I said sure, it's 2 dollars that I can spend on someone in a similar situation that I have been in myself before. I came out with a cup of coffee for him, he was standing by the bar down the street. He requested milk and sugar. I didn't want to touch the cup he was holding so I said okay. The girl at the register was happy to give me an extra cup for milk and sugar. I filled it and was cornered when I was exiting. She was fuming, flustered saying that refills aren't free. How dare I take free refills from the shop before. I apologetically expressed I can pay for a second cup of coffee. She didn't back down. She verbally berated me in front of EVERYONE and it was an awful experience. I've been homeless myself but I've never looked it. This is unacceptable behavior and very ableist. I will still come by, but I wanted to warn others that this place is very discriminatory against the disabled homeless population and I do not want to be a part of this kind of energy.

The restaurant sign is hard to miss, and they have a good amount of parking available. The inside is decked out in old memorabilia, posters, and racing signage and it has an old school feel. You can order to-go, like I did, at the counter or get a table and enjoy a seated experience. The people working here are friendly and when I let them know it was my first time they were happy to answer questions. I ended up ordering the Pepper Steak sandwich, the Italian Cold Cuts sandwich, a pepperoni pizza, and a side of mac salad. The pizza is a simple one, but had plenty of cheese and is perfect if you're craving it. The medium size they offer is perfect for sharing and could easily feed 2-3 people on its own. The pepper steak sandwich is one of the items they're known for and after taking a couple bites I could see why. The mixture of cooked meat, onion, and peppers along with the fresh bread, tomatoes and seasoning is so flavorful. The sauce soaks into the bread to make each bite delicious. The Italian Cold Cut was very unique. I had heard it's a favorite, but I didn't expect something as out of the ordinary. There's laters of meat and cheese on the bread l, and then there is a sweet pickle relish (like you'd put on a hotdog) and then plenty of chopped tomato and onion and sub sauce. The sweetness of the relish through me off, but works with the sandwich. Something interesting about both sandwiches is that they didn't have sandwich toppings like lettuce that wouldn't rewarm well. The chopped tomatoes and onion are great cold, but if you decide to reheat your sandwich they're still great. I don't know if this was the plan but it worked out well. The portion sizes on everything were also fair for the price, and the food was filling. I'm excited to visit again to explore more of the menu, including their meatball sub, pastrami, and cannoli.
