I don't know how I have lived in Sac for 25 years and have never been here. The store is filled with eye popping quality foods. Think of it as a smaller version of Whole Foods when it comes to food quality and prices. I noticed they had some top quality cuts of meats. The prices are quite high so I'll have to splurge some time on a nice steak. I did notice some items were pretty reasonably priced. For example, I was rather surprised to see they had a very large variety of Temple coffee beans for for $14.99 a bag. That's cheaper than I have seen elsewhere but I didn't pay close attention to the size since I was fully stocked on coffee at the moment. I had to try one of their legendary made to order sandwiches. Someone had recommended The Tuscany. Boy, was that delicious! And the sandwich was very large for $9.99, I couldn't finish it all in one sitting. There are tables outside so I purchased a bottle soda and a sandwich. Unfortunately, I didn't think ahead because there are no bottle openers available for customers to use so I was unable to enjoy my nice cold drink with my sandwich. I'll have to either bring my own bottle opener next time or choose a drink that is a screw top or flip opener.

The…read morefirst sandwich I tried was the Corti Special on a Dutch Crunch roll, and the second time I also got the Corti Special, but on a sweet roll. The Corti Special is where they choose the types of meat that go into your sandwich. Their sandwiches are big enough for two people. I don't remember exactly what meats were in my first sandwich, but I definitely enjoyed that one more. The second time, the sweet roll got a little soggy for my liking, and I wasn't a big fan of the beef that was included. I am definitely a fan of their honey mustard, though! You can order your sandwiches online, or if you're ordering in-store, there's a slip you can fill out with your order. I waited about 20-30 minutes for my first sandwich, which wasn't too bad considering it was a busy weekend. The second time, I only waited about 5 minutes. They still have a great variety of meats, cheeses, and alcohol. It's a good place to stop by if you're looking to pick up some specialty grocery items along with a sandwich.

We mostly stop by when we need a couple quick items while walking through the area, or driving past (if we can find a spot). For people who live in the local apartments though, it's perfect. On my latest visit I learned that this Safeway carries dry ice and that they have a Pokemon vending machine. Although, someone was camping out by the vending machine waiting for it to restock. Most likely because of the last day of the great 3-day weekend sale. The18-count eggs were $1.99. The lines were long but I was fortunate there were only three people in front of me...so I thought. The longer lines were rolling pretty quickly, but our cashier decided to be pretty chatty with SOME of her guests. The two gentlemen in front of me must have really caught her attention because she started a conversation with them right away, without them initiating it. It took her more than 10 minutes to ring them up because she kept stopping and talking, and I could not believe that she was disregarding the line growing behind me. I thought she'd greet me just as nicely since i greeted her very friendly, but I guess i didn't have the same effect as the gentlemen in front of me. So my rating was more so regarding the inconsistency in customer service.

My timing wasn't very good though because half the entree items were empty (mandarin chicken, teriyaki chicken, etc). The few entrees that were available were dried out so I got the skinny noodle chow mein with two pieces of fried chicken, instead of two entrees for the same price. The chow mein and chicken was dry too, and the skin and outer layer of the chicken was hard to chew through. I have to give them a pass though because I did go at 1:00, the end of the lunch rush, and there were guests visiting the kitchen at the time, and probably not able to cook to refill. While walking through the store to pick up great sale deals, i didn't pick up much, because the sale prices were not updated in front of the items. At first, i questioned whether certain items were even on sale this week. But the few items I picked up actually scanned with the sale price, so I suggest to make a list of those sale items before you go.
