I never got the chance to do business here because the lady I spoke to on the phone was so rude I refuse to give them my business. She was talking to someone else the whole time she was on the phone with me and she cut me off to say she really had to go when she's the one that called me. She shouldn't have called me if she didn't have time to answer my questions. When I told her I was concerned about the size of the bouquet in comparison to my body size, she laughed and said that was stupid. So unprofessional and so rude. I really cant believe it was a recommended vendor. However, I'm giving it 2 stars because the prices were decent. read more

Bought a nice, very expensive, guest book for a wedding I am having. Employees were kind. Came all the way from Anaheim to visit the store. Turns out we already had a guest book and I drove all the way back just a few days later to return the one I bought here . NO REFUNDS. No exceptions. Reasons given: It costs money for her to do the credit transaction (3.5%) It cost me more in gas to get there than for her to issue a refund. And my favorite, "it's easier that way" Easier for who? Certainly not the customer. Are we not in the business to satisfy the customer?? As a fellow business owner this practice is terrible for future business and results in terrible reviews. Good products, bad customer service and terrible policies. This results in a businesses failure every time. My final piece of advice for this place: don't tell me to have a good day after you just ruined it. read more

My mom and I went to Romance, Etc. to inquire about pricing for my March 2012 wedding bouquets. We met with Deb, and she was so helpful! I rattled off the names of some flowers that I loved, gave her a color scheme, and described the style of the venue to her and the look we were going for. She threw together some ideas, and we picked out some amazingly beautiful flowers together. She asked about the centerpieces that we would be using, and I mentioned that I was using, and I told her that orchids were included at our venue. I don't really care for orchids, and I explained some simple arrangements that I would do if I had the time (and the patience to search for vases). She said that she could do something very similar to that for a VERY reasonable price, and we were absolutely thrilled. We arranged for Deb to drop off the flowers at the venue and set everything up. When we arrived, we were absolutely AMAZED at the arrangements. Everything was absolutely perfect, and she even added in a few extra arrangements throughout the venue. I would HIGHLY recommend Deb with Romance Etc. for anyone looking for flowers for a special event. She will work with you so give you exactly what you want at a reasonable price, and if you throw up a hail mary and hope they're beautiful, you won't be disappointed. In Deb we trust! read more

We came here to get our wedding flowers and we're over sold quite a bit. We met with Deborah (the owner) twice and had pictures of exactly what we wanted. Deborah had to buy silver vases and said she was happy to do so after we put down a deposit. 2 months beforehand, we asked to borrow the vase to pick out wedding linens. When we saw it she said it was similar, but the Flower Market had her specific ones in storage. It seemed odd that she didn't have the actual vase. 3 weeks before the wedding, she made up a mock up of our reception flowers. The flowers were simply awful! Instead of a dome ball of flowers, it looked like a flat tire of plants with a few hydrangeas in them. The arrangement had no flowers in the center...right, there was a gap in our reception flowers big enough to put one if not two big candles. Additionally, it was still a borrowed vase and we were told it would not be used for our centerpieces. The flowers were so off base from what we had described, and it seemed so odd we could not see our actual vase which we had been very specific about it. I can't image any suppliers at the Flower Market being willing to use up their own space for over 6 months. With all the disappointment and mis-communication, we could not use her as our florist for our wedding flowers. When we told her how upset we were, she offered to change the centerpieces slightly, but not do another mock up. We decided not to use her as a florist and asked for our $500 minus the cost of the arrangement she had previously done. She refused to give us back the deposit saying it was to save the date for her work. The reality is, she did save the date, but could not deliver on the work she promised to do for our wedding. We didn't cancel our wedding, but instead she was not holding up her end of our deal. We were highly disappointed in Deborah and Romance etc. Not only did we spend a lot of time going through pictures and explaining exactly what we wanted, but lost $500. I would highly recommend saving your time and money and going somewhere else for special floral arrangement and even larger business transactions. read more

Deborah Fay knows what she is doing! I had my wedding at the Japanese Gardens in CSULB, and the flowers turned out more gorgeous that I could have expected. She was very helpful throughout the consultation. She took my few Pinterest favorites and topped them! The center pieces (white pumpkins!) and garland on the bridge looked amazing. My husband and I loved shopping at the store so when the Gardens had Romance Etc on their "preferred vendors" list, I didn't even hesitate. I'm very happy with their services. read more

Etc. seems to be the main focus of this store. I don't understand the romance part at all. This seems like a good place to buy gifts: there are lots of nick-nacks, candles, cards, coffee-table books, and other small things you might decorate your house with. Everything is a bit pricey though, so I wouldn't do tons of decoration shopping here for myself. read more

This place is soooo cute! This is another store on 2nd St. that makes me feel like walking into a fairy tale. They have so many beautiful items and gifts. They have fresh flowers, jewelry, books, trinkets, etc. but some items are a little expensive. They also sell Godiva chocolates in here too, and have a case of truffles. They have an upstairs loft with some items for babies and also for...intimate time. The employees were friendly and attentive asking if I needed help with anything. Romance, etc. was the florist at a wedding I coordinated last Saturday, and they were wonderful. Very flexible before the wedding, gorgeous arrangements for the wedding, and so helpful during set-up. On the hottest day of the year, Deborah and her assistant made sure everything was perfect, including the aisle runner that the bride and groom wanted. They cut, they measured, provided linen to set the microphone on so it wouldn't mar the runner, and ribbon to mark it off. They made sure that we had a cool place to store the flowers, and even left their cart with us for transport to the reception. They wouldn't leave until the ceremony site was gorgeous. And it was, and the bride and groom were thrilled. I love working with vendors that make my job easier, and I can't wait to work with them again. read more

Deborah did an amazing job on my wedding flowers! I literally didn't care about the little details and gave her the freedom to do whatever she pleased. I know that could sometimes be hard for the vendors trying to figure out what the brides want, but I had no idea about all the shades and different flowers. Deborah gave me an assignment to start a Pinterest board (which I didn't even have one!), and just went with whatever I pinned. All I knew was that I wanted yellows and succulents, and they turned out better than I could imagine. I was working on a budget, and it did come out to be a more than I wanted, but Deborah did help keep the cost down by reusing the ceremony flowers in the reception. This boutique is one of the best kept secrets of Long Beach (at least to this Torrance girl!). My wedding planner introduced me to Deborah (the owner & florist) for a wedding consult. I was very surprised when I walked into the boutique to see a variety of cute gifts and actually missed the floral refrigerator on my first visit. We met Deborah in the very back of the store, which is actually her floral work area. I went into our first meeting with a definite idea of colors and style for my wedding flowers (or so I thought). The most difficult part was that Deborah did not have any pictures of arrangements she had actually put together. She asked for my likes and dislikes and showed me photos of such arrangements in different magazines. She seemed to have a good idea of the style I wanted and we set up a date for a preview of the centerpieces. When we met for the preview, she presented exactly what I had asked for....the shape, the style and the colors...but, I hated it! It was not Deborah's fault. She gave me exactly what I had asked for. Unfortunately, I am not a florist and clearly had no idea about what I was asking for. She was more than happy to start over and try it again. She gave me some wonderful recommendations and emailed me more pictures with some other color options. She even pulled some flowers out of the refrigerator and put together a quick bouquet to show me how well the new color options blended. In the end, she made some of the most beautiful centerpieces for my wedding day. We had so many compliments on them. My bouquet was grand and beautiful. The bridesmaids' bouquets perfectly complimented their dresses. The men's boutonnieres were an appropriate size (as per her recommendation). I couldn't have asked for a better florist. Deborah is very talented and loves what she does. Her thought and creativity is present in all of her work. I never would have found her on my own and I would recommend her to anyone looking for a florist! read more

This shop is the absolute cutest! I was just on a date here around Belmont Shores and decided to walk into this store. The store is filled with many unique items and interesting jewelry. Although the things are pricey, it is def worth a visit! They also have fresh flowers in the front of the shop which adds to the aura of the place. I love the upstairs floor with cute gifts, etc. The people working there seemed a bit...unfriendly but I think they were mostly cautious of thieves and people ruining their stuff. read more

It seems like every wedding has a problem vendor. Romance Etc. was ours. There were a couple of odd things at the start. Every other vendor accepted checks or cards, whereas Romance Etc. only wanted cash or a cashier's check. Having to hand deliver hundreds of dollars (because who would trust the mail with that) was an inconvenience. Slightly annoying, and we couldn't really understand why that was necessary, but not a deal breaker. It was more of a gut check when three days before the wedding our coordinator called us and said Romance Etc. didn't know who would be picking up flowers. We had been communicating via email and sent them a note a month before saying who would pick them up, but their email system was apparently down and our messages to them were going into a black hole. Since there was no way for us to know that, we didn't know what was going on. Some contact from their end would have been nice. The day of the wedding I picked up the flowers, which were very pretty. We had ordered several bouquets of roses and matching boutonnieres, with the bride's bouquet incorporating an antique crystal chain for her "something old." During pre wedding photography the crystal started detaching from the red ribbon tied around the flowers stems but we were able to tack it down. The real trouble was a few minutes earlier. The bouquet had been provided in containers with water reaching high enough to soak the red ribbon around the flower stems. That meant that when the bride sat down, the bouquet started dripping red water onto the lap of her white dress. Thankfully we caught what was going on very soon and were able to keep it from turning into too much of a disaster. I couldn't figure out how that could happen, but it did make me understand why Romance Etc. wanted cash up front. read more

Deborah was the florist for our July 2013 wedding and she was AMAZING! I met with a couple of other florists prior and I knew I wanted to work with Deborah after we left our consultation. I could tell she was detail oriented, communicated well, and took pride in everything she creates which gave me confidence that she would do a great job. She was willing to work with our budget and gave me options on how I could get the look that I wanted within our budget. She was extremely helpful throughout the entire process. She made arrangements so that we could pick up the vases prior to the wedding to wrap lace around them, she handled all of the ceremony decor in the sanctuary of our church, and she communicated with me leading up to the wedding. She called a couple of times to verify some details or let me know of another idea she came up with which I appreciated so much! I gave Deborah a couple of pictures to show her what I was looking for and she was able to go above and beyond my expectations. I wanted an all-white tulip bouquet for myself but tulips have a tendency to open up and die rather quickly so I was worried that my bouquet wouldn't make it through the entire day. Deborah reassured me that it would be fine and that if necessary she would create a second bouquet as a backup. The backup wasn't necessary...my bouquet was perfect and lasted the entire day. Even though tulips weren't in season she was also able to incorporate them into my reception centerpieces which was a great surprise. I was blown away with how beautiful our flowers were and am so thankful for Deborah's time and talent! Deb and Dawna were the florists for our wedding at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach last month. The flower arrangements, bouquets, corsages, boutonnieres and centerpieces were absolutely beautiful and unique!!! They added so much attention to detail as well as a wide array of colors and different types of flowers. They even added fresh flowers to my cake as a surprise and it was a wonderful added touch! All of my guests were blown away and could not stop talking about the stunning flowers and who did them! I knew that Deb and Dawna did an excellent job by seeing their previous work and hearing positive feedback from others but it wasn't until I walked into our ceremony and then our reception that I personally was amazed by their talent!!! I purchased a gift there and decided to return it because it wasn't what I wanted. I took it back And they said they could not refund my money because it was more than 10 days. that I should look on the receipt because it states that there. Who looks at the receipt? Customarily you can return the item within 30 days, I am very disappointed and their return policy oh, it's very restrictive and frequently you don't know within 10 days whether you want to keep the gift or not. This is the only place you need to go for that perfect something. The last two times I've came here Linda has hooked it up.
