Ordered from Roma Pizzeria for lunch. Delivery was very quick. I ordered the Chicken Marsala slice and Taco slice. Also ordered zeppoles and rice ball. Slices were delicious! Crust crunchy and toppings flavorful. Chicken Marsala definately my favorite! I was full with the slice. Rice ball is gigantic! Zeppoles fluffy and tasty. Great lunch had by all!!!

Visit Date 6/12/13 Sometimes I write my reviews a few weeks past my visit date. So if I remember or make note of my visit date I'll note it in the review. So I was walking along Merrick Ave to meet my friend who lives here and I was looking to grab some lunch. I stumbled upon this pizza place and decided to try it. In the warm weather this place is inviting. They have huge front doors that open the whole front of the place up in warm weather, inviting you in to grab a quick slice or sit down leisurely to enjoy some Italian food. I grabbed a baked ziti slice on the run so I didn't have too much time to enjoy the atmosphere. I love baked ziti slices, I realize they are double carbs but sometimes I just don't care. I was pretty pleased with the slice. The crust was more on the crispy side but definitely not overly crispy or saggingly soft. The slice lacked some spice but it was still pretty good. The ziit was a good consistency not too soft or too hard or burnt. The ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese and sauce on the slice bought everything together nicely and made the slice go down incredibly well. This was a pretty good place, once I sample other restaurants along the Merrick Ave strip I could definitely repeat some visits here.

As I've stated in some of my other pizza reviews it's hard to get an amazing pizza score in new York. Romas has a very friendly staff but just average pizza. There specialty slices are a little better then their plain cheese and Sicilian but still nothing to write home about. They have a decent seating area and reminds me of your typical hometown pizza joint. Prime location in the town of merrick and they do deliver.

Someone told my husband this was the best pizza around so I was up for the challenge cause I LOVE pizza. So how do I explain the five stars. Was it the best pizza I've ever had? No, but it was good and the service was exceptional! Whoever that young man is, he deserves a raise. He's so polite and attentive and def a great example of what customer service should be. So now onto the pizza. My sons pepperoni was covered in pepperoni. Way more than the other places we usually go to. They didn't have bruschetta pizza but they quickly made one more me. I looked at it and I'll admit it didn't look appetizing but one bite and...... yummmmm!!! I also got a broccoli wheel and sauce on the side, he gave me cold sauce :( I'll forgive him for that cause he's a sweet kid. Hubby got spinach and broccoli slices. He really liked both. Would I recommend? Yes. Will I return? If I'm in the area I def will.

I understand that not every place is child-friendly, but this is a pizza place! We are excited to introduce our kids to a variety of cuisines from a young age, and we thought pizza would be a good choice. They aren't chicken fingers and fries kinda kids . The food was decent; I wouldn't go as far as to say it was the best pizza I've ever had. However, the meal was overshadowed by the hostess's attitude. Throughout our visit, she kept glaring at us every time one of the kids made even the slightest noise. It felt incredibly unwelcoming. To make matters worse, they do not provide high chairs. When we mentioned that we'd still like to stay despite that, since our one-year-old can sit in a regular chair, it felt like a battle just to get one. It was clear that the hostess was eager for us to leave. Our meal felt rushed, as if we were being timed on how quickly we could eat. Her continual glares were uncomfortable, especially since we were seated right next to the hostess stand. It's unfortunate how much a bad hostess can negatively impact a dining experience. I genuinely hope the management realizes this and considers better training for their staff. Overall, this experience made it clear to me that I won't be returning. They really need to work on creating a welcoming environment for families. Especially because of the town they are located in.

Me and my good friend (new character) skittle decided to go to San Marzano before the rest of our friends showed up so we can get some food and chat before it became chaotic. We were greeted by a very kind staff instantly and our bartender Luke (who I definitely do not know) had us seated and comfortable right away. Lemme tell you I felt like royalty there, Luke is very knowledgable about the whole menu and the place and you can tell he is very passionate for his work, and proud that he works there. For an appetizer I got the rice balls, something small and quick before my blood sugar was in the negatives. I was saddened that there was no meat involved because I am growing boy who needs protein but they were extremely good regardless. Very flavorful, and I was really impressed off rip and excited for what was to come. Oh yeah side note skittles has an allergy to literally EVERYTHING. Peanut, treenuts, shellfish, cheese, water, etc. So he literally didn't want anything. Onto the entree! Luke and I discussed what's the most flavorful thing I can obtain with a hefty amount of protein. He looked me dead in my eye and pointed to the Short rib ragu and told me to add a chicken cutlet. He was so confident in that dish I had to get it. I received it and it was really good, it hit the spot. I thought maybe a little more garlic throughout, I thought the salt was overdone a tad, but the pasta was awesome the short rib was a good portion, and the chicken cutlet was your typical long island cutlet. Actually a great dish that I would get again. I then was in need of a sweet treat. That's how you know I was satisfied.. I don't like desserts or I'm not a fan of really any sugary delight, but I was so relaxed I felt like I had to. I got this hardened chocolate shell with three flavors of ice cream inside and it was good! Again I'm not too fond of sweets so after about five bites I was dead, but then Doctor Bs wife spawned out of literal nowhere and ate the rest. Then about 12 more people arrived and watching Luke in action was like watching Jalen brunson drop 45 on the spurs. Total confidence and was extremely efficient. He then made me a fig martini which also was cool! Had a nice color and a perfect starting drink for the knicks game. I have to give my props to the rest of the staff too, including the manager. Everyone worked very well together and it makes me very happy to see a business come together with the same goal to work collectively to run the place as efficient as possible. Great job, will be back.

Parking was more readily available in the street. There was plenty of seating in the take out/sit down portion of the restaurant where we were; very casual atmosphere, with the take-out line a bit lengthy. Once we ordered, we were served warm bread with butter for the table - excellent! The food, in general, was equally good and I would come back again. We had veal parmigiana which needed a bit more sauce on the plate and a buffalo chicken pizza, which was very tasty, with blue cheese dressing as a sauce and spicy pieces of buffalo chicken on top. The pizza crust was perfect; I'm definitely going for pizza next time I visit. Where I need to take exception was the service. From the waitress who seated us, to the waiter who took our order and served our food, it was just one of the most impersonal experiences I've ever had in a restaurant. It was sort of like a vending machine: you punch in your order, it falls out underneath, you take it and eat it. This is where this venue loses a star. It wasn't so busy that they (the woman who seated us and the waiter who served us) couldn't make eye contact, or smile, or at least say hello; because they did none of those things. Maybe even pass by during the meal and ask "how's the food tonight" or "is there anything else I can get for you." The bottom line is that the food was good, but the service was cold, impersonal, and transactional.
