I rarely leave reviews, but my experience with Roma was so unprofessional I feel others should know. I called to place an order and the front host left me on hold while tending to others. When I kindly repeated my number, she abruptly hung up. Thinking it was a mistake, I called back, but she did it again. That's not customer service it's childish behavior. First time getting food from Roma Pizza and looking at the extensive menu I got pretty excited so put a pretty good size order in. What we got was decent but not anything to write home about. The calamari was so odd. They looked like big onion rings. In fact they were as big as onion rings. I'm not talking those dinky little rings you get from BK. These were as big as those huge battered onion rings. Taste was pretty bland. The app asampler was blah. Frozen mozz sticks, chick wings, frozen chicken fingers and onion rings. Everything was ok. The better part of the meal were the grinders. Steak and cheese and cheeseburger were pretty decent. Not as good as our go to restaurant though. Not nearly. But still pretty decent. Everything seemed fresh and well prepared. The only thing I thought was just bad was the fried dough with cheese. Soggy, flavorless pieces of dough with parm cheese sprinkled on top. These were not good and got thrown out. Overall, not a bad experiance. I'd get food from Roma over other restaurants but probably only if my regular spot is closed. I called for delivery to an address in Bristol as 1-according to their menu they deliver to all of Bristol and 2-they have delivered to me in Bristol before, and the woman (manager) said they don't deliver to my address. When I asked why when they delivered to me before she said that the owner doesn't want to deliver to this part of Bristol anymore. On what was arguably the least healthy 3 days of my entire life, I was almost to bed on Friday night when my parents (no, i absolutely do not live with my parents) decided to order a pizza and basically force me to eat some so I knew how the pizza at Roma Pizza was. We ordered a large with sausage around 9:30 and it arrived about 45 mins later (which is pretty good as far as I'm concerned). Even though I wasn't hungry I was the first person to crack the box open and grab a couple of slices. The pizza here is the large triangular slices but have kind of a Greek look and taste to them (which is exactly how I like my pizza). I enjoyed the slices that I had. The cheese was not sliding off, the meat was pretty good, and the crust was soft enough to chew (which I like). Overall, I enjoyed the pizza I had from Roma although I don't think it's the best in the area, it is a good pizza that will fill you up at a fair price. read more

Service is very poor, Pizza is Okay. Ordered their cheese pizza lunch special. They would not give it to us, because we did not bring in the coupon although they have hundreds of coupons sitting on the counter. The woman replied we could not use those coupons, and did not provide us any coupons even upon paying full price for future orders (which there will not be). Pizza was not ready when it was supposed to be, and we could here them saying how rude we were for asking for the Coupon. The pizza itself is nothing special. Thin but soft crust. Very greasy. Cheese almost tastes gooey. A friend of ours got a sandwich, she complained the meat tasted and smelled spoiled. Either way, food is certainly not worth the attitude. I was there about 9 years ago (lived near W. Hartford) and I had my fair share of grub here. Roma deli is a place Ive been coming too since I was a small child. The original owners aren't there anymore (elderly even back when I was a kid). 1987-mid90's were the best years for this deli. True, authentic Italian deli with shelves of pasta, Nutella, nougat with almonds...all sorts of goodies. The owner used to give us a slice of Mortadella and cheese when ordering deli meat to go. They new us by name, etc. Loved loved loved this place, especially the sesame topped, chewy bread. Haven't had that in decades now. I stopped in to have a grinder recently. Not bad, not great. The "Breakfast Pizza" with bacon was actually surprisingly good and earned an extra star. (White pizza with scrambled eggs and your choice of toppings.) However, the "boneless wings" seem to be large microwaved frozen chicken tenders, cut into wing sized bites, with some honey BBQ haphazardly squirted all over the top. If I wanted that, I would have bought a bag of frozen tenders myself and saved a bunch of money. Also, apparently the "popcorn chicken" is, in fact, nuked frozen chicken nuggets. I usually don't try mom and pop shops; I go for the larger pizza food chains but after trying this place once I was HOOKED. When I say HOOKED, I mean I was placing an order there at least 3x a week. The first time I ordered was just pizza slices. They were amazing. Then I moved up to the pepperoni pizza...FABULOUS!....I have also tried the spinach and roman pizza and the meat lovers. All is very well put together. You can tell the pizza is homemade because the next day you go to eat...the crust is not hard when it's reheated. Delivery is always fast and prices and reasonable. This place is awesome! Nearly everyday someone from my office is ordering from here (and I work with some very picky people). The pizza always has plenty of toppings, the grinders are always hot and s.t.u.f.f.e.d. They have "American" portion sizes = BIG! Even during lunch hours, which seem to be busy everywhere else, they deliver promptly/timely. Very nice staff as well. East here, you wont be dissappointed. read more

First off, I used to get take-out from Roma all the time when I lived in Bristol, but hadn't in many years. My mother (god rest) had turned me on to the place in the early 1990's. Tonight I ordered 2 large pies, 1 half-peperoni, and one sausage with peppers and onions. I was told 35 minutes to delivery. 55 minutes later the pizzas arrived, I thanked the driver and left a $7 tip. However, there was a mistake. They delivered 2 half-peperoni pies. No big deal. I called Roma and they already knew about it. That's where the problem started. The woman on the phone told me : "don't touch that (the mistake) one pizza, the driver is going to come and get it and take it to the right house". I said "okay", but then explained that I was not comfortable that my pizza may have been delivered to someone else and your not supposed to remove food from a customers home and then deliver it to another customer. The woman told me "oh, (oops she realized she shouldn't have said that) we don't do that". When I asked why she told me that's exactly what they were going to do with the pizza they mistakenly delivered to me, she just kept saying over and over that "we don't do that, we can't do that". When I asked for a 4th time, she said "we have to throw it in the trash, but first I have to get it back to show the owner". That is obviously nonsense. She / they obviously have done this before (left food in control of one customer, then delivered it to another customer in order to save money). A minute later, a driver came to the door and after exchanging the pies I explained my concerns to him: that I'm not comfortable with the fact my food was perhaps delivered to someone else, then retrieved and brought to me. He dismissed my concern and said "we don't do that". So I repeated the instructions told to me by the woman who answered the phone at Roma describing that in fact they DO just that. The driver became irate, accusing me of doing "something to the pizza". I said all I did was open it and see it was wrong, but I don't know the "other person" to trust they did the same. The driver (now yelling at me) said "what makes you better than the other customer?" I told the driver that this will be our last order ever, and he stormed off my porch still yelling. The pizza? on a scale of 1-10, I'd give it a 5, however it was COLD when delivered, which tells it indeed may have been delivered to the wrong house, picked up then brought to me. Bottom line is that's NEVER supposed to happen. Even in a restaurant, if food is delivered to the wrong table (even for just a minute), it MUST be discarded, it CANNOT be then served to another table. PERIOD. Roma simply should have apologized, and told me I'd have to wait for another pie to be made because they made a mistake. Nothing wrong with that. But instead, they tried to get away with something and lied, yelled at a customer just to cover their butts. If this is the kind of pride, quality control, and customer service they display overtly, I don't dare to imagine what else goes on at Roma behind the scenes. There are many places to get an acceptable pizza Roma will not be one of them for us. read more

I love the food there but there is one lady who takes orders who gets very nasty. The beginning of this year myself and others ordered food and she got angry because we were using a few different cards and told myself that that it's an inconvenience because she had to tally up everything individually for the tips. Today I order my usual for the last 2 years and I get a creamy dressing for one of my orders and my usual which is my house dressing. I called back and told the lady that I got 2 different dressings for my order and she argues with me saying I ordered it when I always get the same thing. She then states that she's not going to send her driver way over here to Bring me dressings. Debating with me that I ordered the creamy dressings, which I would never. She is very rude. I will never order from them again. The worst part is I told all my co workers about this place and we order together as a group.
