Pizza? Look close. Almost no sauce. Thin crunchy bland stale tasting crust. Basically raw, just melted the cheese. Then it arrived ice cold.

As bad as pizza can be. Stale and crunchy crust, barely any sauce, overall just bland. The picture looks okay but it lies. Ordered delivery, took 1 3/4 hours to arrive cold. If we didn't have an oven to finish cooking it, we wouldn't be able to eat it!

    Slap the calzone.

Riverbend Pizza was a staple when I was temporarily a Plainville resident all the way back in 2009. This small little pizza place tucked away in a plaza is definitely a hidden little gem if you aren't paying attention. I was back in Connecticut visiting family over the weekend and decided it was time to revisit this place with some takeout! I ordered a calzone with sausage and meatball and since I'm never here I definitely some of my moms chicken Parmesan sub as well. The calzone was just as delicious as I remembered and although the calzones here are pretty small, they do pack a tasty punch! The half of chicken Parmesan sub I had was a banger as well. The chicken was delicious and the same goes for the cheese and sauce it was slathered in. If you live in the Plainville/Southington area you owe it to yourself to give Riverbend Pizza a try, it's a decision you won't regret!

Eh thicker crust then I like. A definite harder pizza then I like. No enjoyable flop. But for a Greek pizza it's good so would I go again for Greek pizza but only Greek pizza.

The owner called me, apologized and asked if I was able to pick up, which I wasn't at that time. No problem, it happens I know how short handed resturants are these days. Will absolutely be trying this restaurant asap.

Ordered a Penne ala Vodka pizza, which is one of my favorites to get. Now, you would think that ordering a pizza like that, the sauce in it would either be vodka sauce or at the very least a white sauce to allow the "ala vodka" to shine.... Boy would you be in for a surprise if you got it...RED SAUCE!! On a "ala vodka" pizza?! All the description says is "Aces award winning pizza" so I guess you're supposed to guess incorrectly at their pizza. Apparently, there's also a "Vodka Pizza" on the menu with vodka sauce, but that doesn't come with any pasta on it and is extra money to add to it. Make that make sense. Anyways, called to ask why it was like this and the owner, whose name is "Ace" must have gotten offended because he told me it was "award winning" and that I didn't know what I was talking about. He hung up on me! If I am going to pay $25 for a pizza there are plenty of other places in town I would go to: Domenic and Vinnie's, Riverbend, even Spartan's! If you want an excellent Penne Ala Vodka pizza, go to The Avenue in Berlin, CT and don't patronize this place!!

Apps came out before drinks and the food was super quick overall, service felt a bit slower but everyone was still very helpful, and friendly. The cacio e pepe was a little too peppery for me but maybe that's the point, the chicken cutlet was perfect...crispy and juicy and the meatballs had a great little kick. Ended with the cheesecake that was rich and creamy, wish there was a bit more crust. Overall, great vibes and I'd definitely be back to try something different

The price for takeout for these (3) things were on the high side to not include a side salad. With that said, we were aware that those weren't included as it wasnt listed on their online ordering. We just figured the portion for both Entrees were likely larger and thats why you paid a la carte for the salad. We come back home with the takeout and to our surprise for quite a high price, the portions were small. How small, each meal fit with pasta inside a plastic container, similar to those used for Asian takeout. For any other restaurant that serves Chicken Parmigana, its always been a larger round metal dish with pasta on the side. Typically with 2 pieces of chicken. Putting portion aside as one can argue that we may have been able to find that out before ordering, the (2) entrees were not great. The Chicken Parmigana had one piece of chicken and the chicken was charred, dry, minimal amount of cheese and the both the chicken and pasta itself had a scarce amount of pasta sauce. I found myself having to scrub the side of the dish for any sauce left. The lemon bay chicken was also quite dry and unfortunately the mixture of recip (chicken, pasta and sauce) was quite tasteless. I'm not typically one to leave a 1 or 2 star reviews often, as I'd rather just not go again to the place where I had said experience but between the quality of food, price and portion, this place falls into a bit of an exception for me. Look, I've eaten at many places, if your portions are going to small for the price (and without sides), then the quality needs to EXCEED the excepted regional standard for that dish to justify that reasoning. This experience did not do that, instead we are left with half of take home container of each meal that we will have to toss in trash for Fathers Day.

As I walked through the front doors, I noticed kegs alongside on the floor. This was kind of a turn off, kind of reminds me of a dive bar. So my mentality kicked in that we were going into a dive bar serving food. I kinda get the sketchy feeling. Once we were seated, and menus placed, we were served iced water A few minutes later, the server came back and took our order. My friend ordered a cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, and some string french fries. I ordered the 1/2 smoked chicken, which came with two sides. I chose the rattlesnake beans and the creamy macaroni and cheese. Also include included was cornbread I originally wanted the street corn, as a side, but it was not available. Our lunches came quick, and my friend only ate half the french fries and cheeseburger, as she wasn't really turned on by them. The smoked chicken was fairly dry, with a very interesting smoked flavor to it that I can't put my finger on. I eat about 1/3 of it. Left the rest on the plate. The creamy macaroni and cheese was out of bounds top-notch. I could've eaten this all day. The rattlesnake rice and beans were just OK. The rice was cooked pretty good, and was seasoned well. The beans had a weird taste. Now thinking of this side dish, I was hoping for raw onions to be on top, but they were nowhere to be found. It'll be nice if there was chopped raw onions to go with this. The cornbread was delicious. I ate about half of it. It was a generous slice. While the server was fairly attentive, as she only checked in to fill the water glasses and ask how lunch was. She didn't ask us if we wanted a desert or coffee. Being old folks this would've been a great up for us, but it didn't happen. I had to ask for the check. I'm not sure if I would come back. I think this might be a one and done. The vibe just didn't hit it for me. Restrooms were clean. The restaurant was clean; the silverware clean. I don't know. It just was like a funky type layout and those beer kegs kinda sent the wrong tone to me as a guest. Lunch for the two of us was $40 and change and I left a $10 tip. We didn't have any cocktails or mock tails, we didn't have coffee or dessert either. From what I understand, the owner was near the exit when we left, not even a smile or a thank you for coming in...
