Roller World is the best place to rollerskate in the boston area the staff is very friendly the prices are great ! Also a very safe place for family there is a separate rink for children who are inexperienced only rollerworld has two rinks ! The cleanest rink I have ever been as I have been rateing all the rollerskateing rinks in massachuetts , there is freedom to skate , rollerblade, and even bowl as they have a small bowling lane in the building . Do not waste your money to have a birthday party at this place, it is absolutely the worst...... the food is nasty and expensive, The birthday package includes a cake for the birthday child but if you bring your own, the price stays the same and you can't have both. I paid for 12 kids at $8.50 each, brought 3 pizza's at $14 each,3 pitch of soda's at $5.75, the kids wasted the food, the cake given to us was gross and i couldn't cut the one i brought. As far as retro goes you can't beat Roller world. Had a birthday party there for my daughter its was nicely handled and fairly priced.The food is what you would expect for a roller rink. It's a good winter activity for some kids to keep them from going stir crazy, but i recommend going in the early afternoon to like four if you have younger kids because after like five it becomes overrun by teenagers. Ok where to start, I had my son birthday party there so disorganized and horrible and starts of cheap with a lot of hidden charges and girl serving us had a not want to be here attitude and when I asked where the cake was. I was told to wait in a harsh voice ! Also, owner was very sarcastic and rude ! Thought I would give another opportunity to prove it was a great place and rented skates for my friends son then was accused of trying to steal sneakers that we own !! Owner confused his shoes with that of a girl with sparkles and different sole. When I complained because I was on a time limit and needed to get going she said because I rolled my eyes at situations. Where do I begin? We were so happy and excited to have our son's 8th party here. We had invited friends and family with the youngest being only 3 years old. During the hour we were there we were harassed by the staff. First rule: If a child fell we were not allowed to help them up. We were supposed to keep skating no matter what. Second big mistake was when my nephew (3 years old) skate came off while skating on the big rink. It picked him up and quickly got off the rink. That's when the same guy who already yells at me 3 times came to tell me I could not pick and help the child. I guess I was supposed to leave him there (on the rink) go take off my skates, then go back and get the kid. -leaving him to get trampled on. I told him that I clearly understand the rule however, to stop harassing me every two seconds. There has to be small exception every once and awhile in certain situations. Just when I thought I could move on, another one of the staff came over to yell at me again for what had already happened. I could not understand why another staff had to come and enforce what the first person said. At the point I walked away from her because she was rolling her eyes at me when I said I couldn't leave the child alone to get trampled on. Then I the staff was pointing and laughing at me and when I approached them, another lady shouted in my face and kept putting her finger in my face. That's when I had finally had enough.The staff is so rude and UNPROFESSIONAL! Business must be real good since they treat their parties so poorly. Roller World is an awesome place to go roller skating. It only costs between $5 and $6 depending on what day you go and that includes a pair of roller skates. If you want to use roller blades, that costs extra. Overall, this is a really fun place! Just be careful on Friday nights, I think it's teen night. We have only gone once and that was for our daughter's 7th birthday party. It was horrible and we wont be back. In fact we almost left altogether but my daughter wanted to stay. Every single person who worked there was rude. The pizza plates were smaller than cake sized plates, only a quarter of the pizza was on the plate. The "party organizer" was not friendly or personable. She didnt smile and she put the birthday cake in the center of the table. My daughter was trying to squeeze between her friends to blow out the candles. The gave us pepsi even though we ordered specific drinks, she took the cake away and again, never smiled, she was a real flake! My husband had two confrontations with the ticket girl, giving him h*ll and told him to go have his party somewhere else because we were having issues with that flake,too. Im trying to keep this brief but there was one inconvenience after the other, where we sat, the whole nine yards were miserable. My friend had a party at roller palace in beverly, much better overall, nice people and overall helpful and their "paper goods" were useful. I am so dissatisfied with this business. My cousins son had his 8th birthday party at this place. He had a good amount of children younger than him that couldn't skate that well but still wanted to keep up with him. My son being 3 years old wanted to skate in the bigger rink with the birthday boy instead of the smaller rink. One of my sons skates fell off and my cousin had ran onto the skating rink to help pick him up before any of the bigger kids who were skating really fast fall over him. Once she was off of the skating rink a women came over yelling at her saying that she wasn't suppose to do that and went on and on embarrassing her in front of everyone. So my cousin then told her to stop yelling at her and get the f out of her face. Once that happened they told my cousin to take the people that attended the party and leave. Then they called the cops to have everyone escorted. The police officer said he would've done the same thing my cousin did to help any child from being hurt. But there was nothing he could have done since they wanted all of us off their property. Things were not handled properly by management. We will definitely not be returning. read more

Roll out on skates; I took my 3 yr old and 16 yr old tough they had an ok time I didn't. I got a intercom alert while I was in there they were shouting my license plate number I thought I was blocking an entrance but when I got outside there's a nice/ concern police officer asking me if that was my car, "yes it is, what happen?" your front tire is missing. Yes!!! someone stole 1nnnnnn tire of my car while it was park in the parking lot. I proceeded to contact the owner to see if they could look into the camera but because the car was park on the left side in front of their establishment but not to the right side where the camera is located he wouldn't even take the time to look at it. I grew up in Malden so visits to this Roller World were a given. I absolutely love this place and have so many memories attached to it. It's a great place to have birthday parties for kids! I always have to go to the practice area (thank goodness they have one) whenever I go with friends or my kids. I have seriously mixed feelings about Roller World. One one hand I learned how to roller skate here (and I play roller derby, so the idea of the first time I laced up fills me with happiness) but so many things are working against it. The floor is always slippery to the extent that I wonder if they wax it and even as a pretty strong skater, don't always feel 100% like they keep the safety of roller skaters / bladers in mind when using the floor for other things (I hear there's line dancing?). I've been harassed by children multiple times with no intervention by the skating guards and have found bits of cell phone on the ground when one of the little brats inevitably drops their phone while skating. Plus I've been told to go back to my car to put away a water bottle when they have no fountain in there (there's a sink with a water fountain spout but the water pressure wasn't good enough to drink from when I was there). But it's relatively cheap for some fun an exercise, on off days the rink is almost completely empty of bratty little kids attacking me and the small rink is great for new skaters or people working on new skills. Finally went to Roller World and nope ... not going back. The bad: 1. Upon entering the front door it literally smelled like Fritos (feet). 2. Going through a metal detector at a skating rink is pretty ridiculous. as well as annoying. 3. It seems there are zero rules on the floor and the floor guards are pretty useless. Why are they even there? Kids are parked on the floor, skating the wrong way to get off the floor, hanging out on the wall taking pics, sitting on the wall railing, skating with their purses, cell phones, etc. I've never seen such a cluster (bleep) mess in my life. I'm glad there was no speed limit since I'm an experienced skater and I like skating fast, but the kids skating in circles like a bunch of hamsterheads was beyond frustrating. The entire night was like a slalom course. 4. The music was pretty bad. All hard rap, and believe me, I like rap but this was the no rhythm rap .. ALL NIGHT LONG. Can't get your groove on with that. The good: 1. I liked the layout, size, decor, floor and overall ambiance. But the experience will keep me far away from that place. read more
