I want to start with this being our first time coming and only had enough money to get our two grand daughters in to skate, they don't offer anything to help beginners. in fact they charge 5.00 to rent the homemade stabilizers they built at home. unfortunately we didn't know this isn't provided with the admission. when I asked to talk to someone about helping our 5 year old with a stabilizer, they sent Bryce (he looked older than the building) I told him our situation and I offered literally our last two dollars from the change we got from admission, he said Nope, its 5.00 and that's when I said can't u help us by lowering the fee. Bryce(old sweaty dude) rudely said it's 5.00 or u get nothing, I couldn't believe he wouldn't do anything for a 5 year old little girl. Sadly she hurt her knee trying to skate without a stabilizer, we will not be coming back, the way our granddaughter was treated was unacceptable over 3.00, times are tough but that decision to not help us was beyond rude. it's also dangerous for beginners of any age that cannot afford one of there rented stabilizers, I think the safety of our childeren should be considered and exceptions should be accommodated. Bryce (out dated owner)was just rude and we will not spend another dollar in this rundown skating stink, thanks for breaking a little girls heart and knee over 3.00 that you charge renting something that should be included with admission. what happened to the safety of the kids, money is more important if you ask Bryce (old stinky owner), this place really sucks and should accommodate the less fortunate for there safety in certain situations, wouldn't cost them nothing, heartless world we are in,SAD read more

Ok roller skating is a great and fun activity for adults, seniors like myself and children. That being said, I think they would get more business if the place were updated and safety factors taken care of. Good points- there are new skates for some of the sizes, not my women's size 11 unfortunately. The neon walls are fun, and the music system was clear. The major issue is the FLOOR it is not smooth at all, the rink is so hot. They have big fans but not aimed at the floor. Several people including myself had to stop and stand in front of a fan to cool down. There is no carpet in the area you put your skates on. That does not feel safe, the floor area is very slippery. We did not get a chance to play games so can't comment on those. We did not read any reviews before we came in order to not be biased. We did come because of the great deal of family of 4 for $30. read more

Just recently enjoyed a fantastic blast from the past 80s Night with Roller Land!! Felt so much like being a kid again. The music was the best, all the top hits and it brought back great memories. These guys have a beautiful lighting setup; fun dance lights, black lights and a few disco balls over the floor - just like the roller rinks back in the day only it all felt very bright and new. They have a cool florescent mural that glows under the black lights. The floor at this place is just a tad bit rough in one area, but keep that small spot in mind and you're good to go. Terrific, friendly customer service. Everything takes you back, and in a good way - great exercise!! I hope they'll have more 80s Nights in the future. The parking lot was PACKED, (a few cars had to line along the street). Very popular theme night. A great time travel trip. read more

Katelyn is the lady who passes out the roller skates/trainers and encouraged that we steal the skate trainers from children. When I implied that it wasnt right as an adult myself, she immediately gave me attitude and claimed it is right to take from people. She stormed off shortly after, giving me no say in her unprofessional and rude behavior towards me. As someone who loves to roller-skate, this place was not in my favor. At first I was little skeptical going here due to the poor ratings/reviews on here. However, the staff were quite friendly and welcoming, I had no issues what so ever. The staff would even skate around with everyone on the rink. The DJ was good and the place had a cool vibe. Nonetheless, the place is definitely in need of a makeover which would enhance the experience. This is why I chose to give it 4 stars out of 5. The bathrooms look a little run down, parts of the floor on the rink were a little rough and it got a little warm in there due to no AC. The fans they had in place helped a little but still tended to get a little warm as you skate. Overall, I'm thankful that there's at least a skating rink near the area for a decent price. How in the world is this place allowed to stay open??! The skates they provide are very old. I saw them hand a young girl skates without a front break, only the bolt. There are tons of holes in rink that I guess they don't want to fix with fiberglass or epoxy. Part of the rink is unskateable at all. The drop ceiling tiles are black with water damage and mold. The entire place smells of mildew. There were over 30 people skating there when I went so I know they're making $...I guess they just want to run this business into the ground rather than investing in it. read more

Nice staff, good price, good music. But for the love of god repair something, or paint something!!!The ceiling tiles were missing insulation was hanging out parts the ceiling. Some of the floor for skating was all messed up and have cones marking them off. Corners of the building were loaded with mold the whole place needs a paint job. A bit dilapidated outside and inside. The installations are definitely run down, the skating rink has patches of scuffs that make it a bit hard to skate over and it is super hot and stuffy inside. Also no AC but fans are on and running. Besides that it is an affordable family or date night activity. The entry prices comes with free skate rentals. Yes, it's dirty and rundown and trashy, but it's also AWESOME! To be honest, I can't believe it's still around, but local youngsters are probably pretty glad it is. Where else in the city can you experience the tingle of a "couples skate" to the tune of Bryan Adams? NOWHERE. Plus, they do inline hockey, roller derby, and figure skating. To this day my mother still calls Roller Land "Stinky Socks" which I'm pretty sure is a reference to the smell, but I think she's just bitter from falling on her ass during the Hokey Pokey at this place 20 years ago. Our family was so excited to find a place to roller skate. I was eager to try this place out. The price is exceptionally reasonable. It left a lot to be desired. The smell from the grease traps was overwhelming. The rink floor is badly in need of repair. The women's restroom didn't have running water to wash hands. It was very busy which tells me others were happy, it just wasn't for us. The staff and im assuming the owner were very friendly, just not a place I'd visiti again. read more

While walking to front door was approached by what seemed like the owner or manager who was full of hostility and rudeness. They argued about the hours that they had when we mentioned that it says they are open. Overall I would not recommend anyone support a business with staff that act like that towards anyone not to mention the place looks run down. Rollerland was built in 1980, and has seen better days, but with the revival of roller derby, Rollerland is seeing a higher attendance again. Starting on March 17, 2012 the roller derby season begins again with both Junior roller derby and women's roller derby. There is also a hockey team, if you are interested. Roller Land has been around for as long as I remember, and I am more than happy about that. Yes, it does need some fixing up, but at least it still has mom & pop spirit. I learned to roller skate here and I plan to teach my daughter to skate here too. Considering this is one of the only roller rinks left in the Valley I should probably be a little more generous with my stars, but... I'm not. It's old, run down and stinky. It's not at all like the roller rinks of my day. The rink itself had a few patches that needed to be repaired and the only carpet in there was near the bathroom, ew. Speaking of bathrooms, these were the MOST disgusting things I'd ever seen. Resembled a park or camp site, grody! ...All that aside we had a blast here for a birthday party, which is why I'm giving it two stars. The music was good and the staff friendly. The best part had to be seeing my girls excited to see me rolling on the rink, geeze after all these years I still got it! ;) p.s. Seeing as it's the only skating place in Merced, and therefore the only place convenient to take my kids skating, there really isn't much in the way of options. The admission price doesn't seem too terribly bad when compared to the Calskate prices, but you get what you pay for. Pros: Cheap; convenient location. Cons: Run down, trashy appearance; can almost never use 2 for 1 coupons kids get from school; public session schedule not always convenient for those with other-than-standard work schedules; customer service could use some improvement; need better skates for the little ones...we are paying the rental fees, after all. As of now, there are more cons than pros...but if they'd upgrade the facility, open up more public sessions (perhaps during the week), invest in some better skates for the smaller kids, and work on some social skills there, the place would be four- or five-star quality hands down. read more

I don't recommend having a party at Roller Land. We had my daughter's party there and it was NOT worth the 300.00 we paid for 2 hours. It took almost 3 weeks to even get in touch with the owner. He's grumpy and unprofessional. The place is sorely run down and falling apart - rotting and moldy ceiling tiles, grimy surfaces, walls and walkways falling apart, etc. I had to repeatedly ask them to change the music to kid/family friendly songs. The owner was rude to me and my guests. It's a shame because the place has potential. The owner is his own worst enemy. Owner and staff are rude AS HELL. The snack bar has no menu and i asked what they had politely and was met with hostility, WELL WHAT DO YOU WANT?! YOU GONNA DRINK OR EAT?! Like girl whatever. Then I saw the owner or boss or whoever and he was just as nastier than hell every time he managed to catch my attention he was yelling yes YELLING at children who didn't even look older than 13 every time he was yelling at A child it was disgusting he was soo rude about it like he gets off telling kids off On to top of that the rink is all messed up your literally tripping and falling over holes in the wood there's NOBODY sanitizing anything like come on we're in a pandemic the bathrooms were atrocious they smell worse than port-a potty's but honestly I'd much rather go in one than ever use that bathroom again they look like they've never been cleaned before it sucks someone sooo disgusting can run a place with soo much potential honestly that place can be beautiful if the right people take over. We were forced to pay twice without evening knowing that there were seasons about to end (it is our first time ever) the bathrooms are HORRIBLE instead of a mirror it was a piece of foil and it seemed more like a parks bathroom. The cement was very frightening and the step to go into the rink was dangerous. It stink so BADLY in there and the bad thing is there wasn't any AC. This place has been strange since I was a child but aside from being strange, they have not cleaned rollerland since I was a child. If you are going to skate just go and skate - I would not eat there as I'm sure that their failure to vacuum in 20 years has probably spilled over into their food prep area. The worst thing about Rollerland is my kids beg to go there at least once a week. I put them off as long as I can an then I'll bite the bullet and go. If you have kids who really like to skate they will probably love the place. If you own a hazmat suit I would consider wearing it - oh and pee before you get there unless you like sitting on the floor with rollerskates on your feet in a bathroom with no doors on the stalls. read more

Old is one thing, but filth is completely another. I honestly don't know where to begin. The restrooms alone should have the place condemned. The ceiling tiles and spider webs are just the beginning of the mess of this place! Wash your hands often! Despite the filth described above, I still would've given it three stars, but on my very first (and last) visit, the owner was extremely rude to me and my family. After charging us $25 each ($125 in total) for the all-night skate entrance fee (7pm-7am), he then wouldn't allow our family to leave to go eat dinner without having to repay the $125 admission fee. When I reminded him that he had not explained this rule at the time he charged us the admission, and that it was our first visit to the rink and if we could come to some kind of compromise he began to be very rude. I offered other possible solutions including bringing in dinner to the kids or just leaving with a refund to which he refused. Then he smirked and laughed and turned his back on me. I am extremely dissatisfied with the awful customer service I received and would NEVER recommend this business to anyone. The music consisted of 95% Rap, about 4% Disco, and 1% Country. Yes Rollerland is old and needs some love but the fun is all the same. I spend lots of days here as a kid and now my kids also love every time they skate. Same family has owned since I was a kid 25 years ago! Very nice family and always polite. My kids school has skate night once a month and they always love going. We also just hosted a private birthday party for my son and it was such a blast to have to place to ourselves and guests. They let you bring in food, drinks, and cake for private parties. ALL the kids had a great time and none of them care that the ceiling tiles need attention. Kids just love to skate and don't care! Thankful for every memory at Rollerland!
